Captain Dennis Adventure Tours

Reviewed By Katrina G - Ely, Iowa

If we could give 6 stars instead of 5, we would. Captain Dennis gave us the most amazing day of our stay in Jamaica. We booked this trip based on the great TripAdvisor reviews, and it exceeded our expectations. From the initial warm greeting to our heartfelt thanks and assurance that we would return, the day was special. Captain Dennis and his crew met us promptly at our designated spot at Calabash Bay, and we were off to our picnic spot, where the supplies were deposited so the guys could start preparing lunch. His pilot then took us to the famous Pelican Bar, a mile off the coast, before the crowds arrived. We enjoyed a couple of Red Stripe beers, which somehow tasted better out in the ocean:-). Then we were taken back to our secluded and private beach, where a sumptuous lunch was waiting: crab appetizer, grilled lobster (plain and with jerk sauce), turbot in Jamaican brown sauce, rice/beans cooked the tradition way with fresh coconut milk, simply sautéed vegetables (cabbage, carrots, callaloo), and the most delicious fried bread (similar to cornbread). Captain Dennis made us drinks with ginger beer, dark rum and lime — (Dark and Stormy) —delicious! Of course there was Red Stripe and water. After lunch we went for a long walk (2 miles at least) on the beach and saw no one on the stunningly beautiful beach. There was no hurrying us......we left at 10:30 and got back to our hotel at 4, but we could have stayed longer had the weather cooperated. We were expertly piloted back to our starting point in Calabash Bay just ahead of a storm, through choppy, exhilarating waves. In our opinion, none of the reviews have yet fully captured the extent of Captain Dennis’s hospitality and the friendliness of his crew. We will take this tour every time we come back to Jamaica. It is the essence of Jamaican hospitality.

We were recommended Captain Joseph’s Cookout by friends and i couldn’t thank them enough. This is all you could want and more. A deserted strip of beach in the most idilic setting followed by fresh seafood caught and cooked by the charismatic always smiling Captain Joseph. I’m already planning my next trip as you simply can not go to Jamaica and not do this!!

Two lovers, separated by slavery, leaped to their deaths over these cliffs.

This is a little hidden gem on the coast. The views are spectacular and the story of the lovers who leapt is both heartbreaking and romantic.
There is not a whole lot to do here so don't plan for a whole day here but it's definitely worth a visit for an hour or so.

We have been using Treasure Tours for all of our vacation needs during our annual Jamaican vacation for years. Rebecca and her team are simply fantastic and cover every little detail with brilliant organizational skill and great good humour. The villas they offer represent a wide range of options and yet each is excellent in what it delivers. The airport transits are perfectly timed and the drivers superb (see the roads they drive!). This last trip I took a bunch of "newbies" with me and so we did a number of 'tours' organized by Treasure Tours and ALL of them were fantastic. So much so that several of my friends claimed that this experience was the "best vacation we ever had".
Use Treasure Tours for all your 'on island' arrangements and relax - your vacation just started early!

We can only regret not to have more time and visited the Sharon's temple only for few minutes before leaving to the airport. Would love to have more time there...

Shirley's Steam Bath & Massage

Reviewed By DanniBinDC - Washington, District of Columbia, United States

My boyfriend and I took a spur of the moment trip to JA, and coencidentally ended up staying at a lovely Villa (RockSide Villa in Great Bay.. check it out!!!) not too far from Shirley's. The plan was to rest, relax, and rejuvinate ourselves so much lazing around and sipping Red Stripes on the beach was the most I had planned. While looking at information on the Treasure Beach area I stumbled upon Shirley's steambath. As a certified lover of all things heat and massage related I knew we had to take advantage of our time in JA to make a trip for a steambath/massage.
Shirley's driver, Doreen who picked us up from our villa was awesome making our short trip to the facility a fun one, and the property was beautiful! As a note, the ride was included in the total price for the massages which was a bonus! We were greeted by her sweet dogs upon our arrival, given cold bottled water to hydrate ourselves and then it was time to get to business.
My boyfriend, who was suffering from a horribly timed vacation cold, was first to go under the treatment of Shirley's healing hands. He said that after his steam all of the congestion from his head drained and he felt pretty darn great. He also made mention that Shirley really focused on two of his trouble areas during the massage. Which was pretty intersting given he hadn't told her anything about his ongoing shoulder or achilles issues...hmmmm....
While he was getting his steam/massage I hung out on the hill and chatted with Doreen and Nicholas (the gentleman that was helping get the water for the steam baths ready to go). I also played with one of the dogs, who was a total sweetheart. Wandering through the Gardens I had the pleasure of seeing a beautiful Doctor Bird (national bird of the island) land on a branch, but dart away before i had time to get my camera out to capture the moment. I also went to the street to take pictures of the front of Shirley's property, which was beautiful all on it's own, but was quickly ushered back into the garden by her dog who was clearly more concerned with my well-being on the narrow streets than i had the good sense to be.
Now it was time for me to steam! The steam bath itself was awesome (but i do have an odd fondness for sitting in steam)!!!!! And the massage that followed was equally as awesome! Both my boyfriend and I left feeling totally relaxed, yet oddly energized. We actually wanted to go back just partake in the steambath again, but didn't have the time before we had to leave. We will be back.
Please take the time to visit Shirley! She's really an amazing woman, with an amazing gift (some may even say she's a healer, which I would agree with!). Our afternoon with her was a very special treat and I would actually be willing to take the 2.5 (or longer.. depending on your driver) trip from MoBay just to come spend an hour with Shirley and her healing hands.
