Dona Josefa de Elqui - Pisco Artesanal

Traditional cellars used for the elaboration of pisco

Small distillery that seems to be new to giving tours. Sadly the owner only speaks Spanish though he was more than happy to show us around through their very hands-on process through a bit of sign language and interpretation.
Lovely guy!
'Tour and a taste' is free - takes about 15 mins. Just shows you what they do without all the history that you'll hear at all the other tours anyway.
Pisco was really good too.

Visited Cavas Del Valle on a conference trip earlier this year in April. Had a tour of the winery. Very informative and friendly host. Manged to sample many of the grapes from various varieties and also dried products from the grapes. Beautiful place overlooking the valley. Will visit there sometime if I am back to Chile again.

It was a good tour, It was pretty interesting and you could see stars, planets, and the moon.
They give a pisco sour to drink, in my opinion it's too expensive for only one drink, they should have something to eat, and in order to see through the telescope they should give preference to children.

This is a truly amazing place. One of the oldest existing Distilleries.
During the guided tour, they tell you everything about the origin, the process, quality etc. you will experience the whole process and visit special places in the 'house'.
Before this visit pisco was just pisco, without any difference. Now I know the value of a good artisan pisco.
This place is easy to visit by bicycle from the Pisco Elqui town. In the afternoon they have guided tours every hour.

The mistral distillery and restaurant was a wonderful surprise in this quaint little town . We had a lovely lunch outdoors overlooking the snow covered Mountains , a delicious goat dish , tender and full of wonderful spices and flavors , worthy of the best 4 star restaurant anywhere , very creative dishes and drinks ! Highly recommend it.

Valle del Elqui

The entire Elqui valley is popular with Chileans. Most international tours include only Santiago and the extremes of Chile (the Atacama desert, glacier country, and Tierra del Fuego). Elqui is special, and within manageable driving distance of Santiago. The star viewing can be just as good as Atacama -- and there is still something green (and wet) in the scenery!

Nice little church in a very pleasant town. You'll see it when driving in. Plaza area in front of the church is also very nice and neat. Did not have time to enjoy but I hear it can get rowdy at night.

If you are staying in Pisco Elqui this makes an enjoyable trip out of the village and up further into the narrowing valley. The market is down below the road shortly after it becomes unmetalled. It is nicely laid out. The crafts, while of high quality, are somewhat lacking in variety - mostly jewellery. Our negative point was the juice drink in the cafe - largely water, over-priced and exceptionally long to arrive and then be pay for, even with service added to the bill. The positive aspect was the babbling stream running alongside - delightful, a good place to relax with a book or to visit the masseur.

My friends and I took this tour with a lovely softly spoken man, it was such a special, quiet location under the stars. Great telescope and the guide was very passionate and knowledgeable, always answered our questions, and we had nice pisco to finish. The tour had a very nice emphasis on science however we suggested it would be great to learn more about the stories behind the stars - to have more balance. Overall we learnt a lot! Very informative and enjoyable.

Absolutely stunning experience. I have never seen so many stars in my life. It was a bit chilly in October but they provided blankets, hot tea, and cookies. The talk was very informative in both English and Spanish (I don't speak Spanish but the translation was great). Highly reccommend if you are an astrology buff or want a romantic outing.
