The 10 Best Things to Do in Parksville, Canada

August 3, 2017 Brandee Mangan

Established in 1910, Parksville is one of Canada's most popular summer destinations for families. Everyone loves Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park, with its beaches, tidal flats and pools, wildlife, and campgrounds; and several other provincial parks are within half an hour's drive. Follow Vancouver Island's Highway 19 (Island Highway) to reach nearby Qualicum Beach and the Comox Valley.

Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park

I live in Parksville, where Rathtrevor is. Parksville is known as Canada's Caribbean and Beaches like Rathtrevor, and its neighbouring beach, Parksville, are main attractions. In the summer the tide is often a half mile out during the day, allowing for great spaces to play or hang out all day long. In the evening, as the tide comes in, the water is warmed by the sand that has baked all day in the sun. There is a beautiful RV park here as well. TIP: Go to Parksville Beach on Canada Day (July 1st weekend) for a great all day and night celebration ending in fireworks at dark

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park

Little Qualicum Falls Provincial Park straddles the scenic Little Qualicum River, west of Parksville, where impressive Waterfalls cascade and plummet down a rocky gorge in a beautiful forest setting. Perhaps the most magnificent park on Vancouver Island, Little Qualicum Falls incorporates the entire southern shore of Cameron Lake, adjacent to MacMillan Provincial Park and the awesome Cathedral Grove Rainforest. Cameron Lake is bordered by steep mountains: Mt. Wesley to the north and Mt. Arrowsmith to the south.

Despite a little bit of rain we decided to check out the park. The paths were well maintained and the views of the falls were spectacular. Would highly recommend.

I enjoyed the Cheese Works and the samples that were available, cheese and wine. The cheese was delicious as was the wine. There are unique items to buy here as well. Our visit was in December 2017 before Christmas. The timing was good. We enjoyed the Cheese Factory very much.

Visited here a couple of times now, over the last few years of living in Parksville with family and grandchildren.
If you’ve never golfed before, then this is the place to try it, my wife, and my sister, never having held a club, got holes in one. My brother, on the other hand, golfs every other day and failed to shine. Putting family rivalry aside, kids enjoy it too!
Very well maintained and landscaped, the young staff are friendly and helpful.
Oh, and don’t forget the bumper boats!

Englishman River

There are many access points to the Englishman River but if you're touring, the best access points are at the Provincial Park by Errington and Top Bridge park at Parksville. There's many good hiking trails, short or long, you can choose. There are large parking lots, picnic tables with shelters, and toilets. For swimming, Top Bridge would be the place to go - it offers some good diving and warmer water.

Top Bridge Park Trail is an easy terrain trail, with a total length of around 5km (10 km return). It starts at Rathtrevor Provincial Park and runs to the suspension bridge at Englishman's River Park. At the moment the trail is closed south of the railway bridge, for logging work. It is still worth a visit.

Mooberry Winery

Reviewed By ASASG_7 - Vancouver, Canada

They have really done a good job of combining a number of attractions here. First there is the working dairy where you can see cows self-milk (yeah!), piglets, and other animals in their pens - all he barns are nicely laid out both for the comfort of the animals and the fun of watching them. Then, there is the little shop where you can pick up treats for a picnic on the grounds or to take home. We did a complimentary fruit wine tasting, sampled some cheese and left with an armful of goodies. Finally, the Gardens and grounds are a pleasant way to spend some time. Great attraction no matter your age or interests!
