If you've been to the War Museum in Bastogne this will pale in comparison. If you cannot see the war museum, this will be a very good way to get information about WWII with nice exhibits.

It boasts an impressive underground cliff on the river.
But for people who would already have visited caves in Slovenia, it is nothing really spectacular, and most of the rooms and formations are just average.
Still: congratulations to the enthusiastic workers who have set up the catwalks, it must have been a major work.
You cannot walk by yourself, so must be part of a group. The guide is impressive tri-lingual and friendly, so he repeats 3 times the same story (in 3 different languages). I see that many people like this, but we find it too long waiting. You could easily visit this cave in 30 minutes, it is not worth one and half hour. Very sorry to say so, I guess it comes from our experience visiting more impressive caves in other countries.

This was a feudal castle dating back to the 9th century. The towers, murder-holes and give you a real feeling of an age-old mediaeval atmosphere.

The visit requires a good pair of shoes, as it is a bit of a climb to get there, nothing major but still. Once in the Deister's ruins, the view over the village and the river is great, it is true delight to see the green Ardennes and the lazy Ourthe below.

We had a nice walk through the castle and enjoyed the descriptions in the brochure. We were a bit disappointed in the story of the Phantome. The story didn't seem to make too much sense. Translation problems?

I'll say from the start that we didn't use any of the 'official' facilities (e.g. cafe) because we turned up late afternoon and they weren't open. However, we have our own kayak and took it out for a spin on the lake behind the dam to find an absolutely beautiful and almost deserted lake that winds around the wooded hills of the area. Serene and picturesque. It looked as of you might be able to rent boats from the complex by the dam itself but probably best to check before heading over. There also seemed to be extensive walking paths along the shores so that's another option if you prefer dry feet.

During a short trip in the Ardennen, we visited Cyrille's chocolate shop. Hence, I can only refer to my experience with the shop. The little shop is very nice. Also, the chocolate quality is good and there is a quite broad variety. Always nice to buy home made products from the area. You can also buy nice chocolate gifts in the shop. The chocolate however is quite expensive, compared to supermarket bars (quite logical to me).

A church located right in the heart of town that stands out amidst the shops, cafes and restaurants. If you take the mean pedestrian cobblestone walk, you'll run right into it. Has steps going both ways of the church and is lovely but very dark inside with columns, a large crucifix hanging from the ceiling by the alter, plain style stained glass windows. The stained glass windows were really cool with a modern look. Do visit if you're in La Roche.

Calling a piece of grass on the banks of the Ourthe river a beach may be a bit overrated. It is nice, there is a toilet and running water and a place to sit, but that's all. Take youf own gear to have an enjoyable afternoon at the idyllic (stone) bank.
