We use this area weekly to walk our young dog. There are various entrances where you are able to park and access the the area. The condition of the road is poor with many deep potholes but if you take it slow it is well worth the effort. There are several trails of varying length. Well worth a visit.

The Heron on the Lake

Reviewed By Soosgreen - Chichester, United Kingdom

We visited with baby G- 8 and great uncle and auntie G-80 so a range of ages. There was easy access for the older family members although when we went outside for a cuppa after our meal there were stairs to contend with.
The service was fantastic - I believe it was one of the owners who served us, we were offered complimentary bread balsamic and olive oil while we were waiting for our meal which was a pleasant touch.
The g&t was delicious and served in a huge fishbowl glass with plenty of fresh lime. There were several gins on offer for the gin lovers out there.
The heron on the lake beer was good. Tea was served in an enamel pot from teapigs - three cups worth!
The prawn salad was large and very generous with the prawns. The veggie lasagna was good - not the best I've had but tasty. The burger was exceptionally good, lovely thick chips, burger sauce, pickles well cooked. The gammon was good and generously sized.
There was a children's menu with all the crowd pleasers. Baby G had the fishfingers followed by ice cream with smarties.
We took our desserts and pots of tea outside as it was such a lovely day. I scraped my leg quite badly on the breeze block bench. The tables were screwed down so you couldn't move things out of your way to pass.
Still apart from the great service, food and drink options what made it for me was the setting. It is beautiful. So much attention to detail has been put in to the decor. And to look out on the lake on a sunny day was delightful.
There was plenty of shade and Seating in the restaurant side the drinking only Seating area had no shade apart from a hollowed out boat chair.
There were a mix of families, couples and large groups and it seemed quite a trendy place to meet.
We wanted to walk around the lake and were told we would have to go to Fleet Lake past the train station if we wanted a wander. A little too far to walk with the older members.
Good size car park with disabled parking.
I would definitely go back again and recommend a visit if you are nearby.
It probably really helped that it was such a beautiful day when we visited as I think it would be quite different on a rainy day.

Wyvern Pub

Reviewed By TimParry - Fleet, United Kingdom

I have always been put off this pub due to its "big screen" sports. However, braving it on a non-sports mid-week night turned out to be okay. Very quiet. Friendly staff. Nice decor. Food standard pub fare and reasonably priced. Food service seemed incredibly slow for uncomplicated meals with a near-empty pub: a 35 minute wait from ordering to getting food. Would return for a quiet meal if the sports can be avoided. I really wanted to rate it 3.5 stars and "good" but seems unfair to rate it average so it can get the 4 stars due to the friendliness of the staff.

First visit to this pub - friendly ambience/staff. Food was excellent value and good quality/quantity - my omelette (which included bacon, cheese, onion, mushrooms) was fantastic (£5.95). Far too many pubs these days serve 'restaurant-priced-food' not what we want! Bring back more pubs like the Falkner Arms.

Fun wine bar which also sells limited (craft type) lagers and beers. Bar is rotatated visually 90 degrees, with tables and chairs screwed to walls, doors and windows on ceiling, sofa on floor tipped over so you sit on the back. No food as such, but interesting snacks with occasional "sausage plate and wine" evenings. Friendly owners. Opens out onto high street in good weather.

What an incredible privelege and honour to be a part of something that will go down in history, the stories I can tell my children and will bbe carried on through after Ive died..this, so humbling, the opening ceremony of the most incredible bridge i have ever had the pleasure to cross over,...one side of the motorway...to the other!! I went all out for you and I am disabled. After 2 hours of step by step climbing with my helpers we continued by crossing over this incredible motorway bridge - the scott mills bridge with views in both of the two directions of traffic, with so many lanes, oh wow!!! And you know I felt on top of the world, just like in the titanic....but with roads beneath me, not the sea....Lorries were driving underneath and everything! Red lorries, yellow lorries... I was floored!!.Once my aides helped me back on my feet I was overwhelmed by a vision of beauty and I thought I was at the pearly gates poof heaven but it was a balloon arch and...I promise you, I have never in all my days seen a balloon arch of such exquisite perfection...and the sheer awesomeness of this whole experience will stay with me for ever. If I never cross a bridge again at least I crossed this one ...and there were windows!! Windows!!!?! This will make up for the rest of my lifes worth of bridge experiences .which havent been many...i like the lift but many Bridges to cross and I have seen them, just not been on any.. I thank you Chris Stark, genius speech and Scott Mills at Radio One, ...LEGEND!

Active Monkeys Play Centre

Reviewed By msjhaffey - Hook, United Kingdom

I went with my niece and her toddler. The venue was smaller than I had imagined but still plenty big enough for the children there. Lots of safe climbing space, with plenty of softness and safety nets built in everywhere. We also had some good coffee there, which was a pleasant surprise.
My niece's daughter really enjoyed herself for about 90 minutes when she got tired just as it was getting pretty busy at midday on a Sunday.
Tips:
- park at the nearby council parking in Church Road. It's only a short walk away.
- If coming on Sunday, get there as soon as possible after opening time (currently 9.30am) to avoid the crowds.

I went with my hubby last night since there was a 90's dance event organised. Unfortunately the ridiculous delays in both 2 bars ruined most of our night due to the frustration of having to cue and wait a minimum of 45 minutes to order a drink. Sort your venue out when you hold these kind of events and want to charge for them!AWFULL
