Gudahagen Nasum

This ancient monument consists of a rectangle of stones. It's built around a natural height and thus the hill is rounded up of giant Greystones. The sides of the rectangle measures up to 50 meters. From the beginning it was around 250 stones but today only 95 remains, of which 23 are still standing. Opinions differ on what the purpose was to the stone formation. Maybe the purpose has changed over time. Ideas have been put forward that the monument have been about sun worship. Another idea is that it was a pagan sacrificial site. A third theory is that it is an old Pagan burial site. Most scientists agree that the stones were erected during the Viking era to show that the land was sacred and meant for burial of unburned dead.

Lilla Kungsleden Hiking Trail

Lilla Kungsleden was inaugurated in 1999 by King Carl XVI Gustaf. The hiking trail is 4 km long and starts close to the chief town Bromölla, not far from Årup’s manor house. There is a parking area, an information board and a picnic area. From the parking area, you follow the green markings and you will soon enter the walkway which goes to the manor house next to Årup’s park. After the manor house, the hiking trail will take you through Årup’s reindeer enclosure. After that, it follows the river Skräbe quite closely all the way down to the river’s estuary which opens out into the Baltic Sea. You can either walk across the bridge and pass Garvaregården or choose the narrower path to the west of the river, down to Nymölla Mill. The path then continues between the paper mill, Stora Enso, and the River Skräbe down towards the sea. Along the trail you will enter both beech and mixed deciduous Forests. During the spring, the ground is covered in wood anemones. Common birds in the area include the chaffinch, the titmouse and the nightingale. You will also find the kingfisher, the dipper and the scarlet rose finch. Among birds of prey, buzzards and red kite are dominating species.

Smugglarrundan Bicycle Trail

The smuggler tour is a 19-km-long cycle trip. You cycle through the old mill town of Bromolla and along Edenryd’s Riviera, where you will find beautiful views and various activities, such as swimming and hiking. You will find places to eat and you can visit the pubs, or why not stay the night at one of the various B&Bs which are available along the route. The River Skrabe runs adjacent to the major industrial area in Nymolla – the river that connects Lake Ivo with the sea. The River Skrabe is one of southern Sweden’s best fi shing waters for whitefi sh. You will also find Nymolla Mill on the river. To hike along Kungsleden you do not have to travel up to Norrland! Instead, you can walk the “Little Kungsleden”, in Bromolla, which is very picturesque and runs alongside the River Skrabe, between community of Bromolla and the marine estuary. A few kilometres west and you will be in the small community of Gualov, where you can make a detour along Byavagen to the old Romanesque church from the 1100s. Once you are on the cycling track again, you will soon be able to see Lake Ivo – Skane’s largest lake. Here you will have an opportunity to stop for a snack or even a swim at the Strandangen bathing area. You can then continue on your journey and soon you will be right next to Lake Ivo, where you will meet the canal before you are back in Bromolla. On the way into the centre you will pass the town’s biggest playground – where you will certainly be able to pass an hour or so.
