In the 13th century Livonian Order built a fortification with two watch towers on opposite corners of the square. In 15th century on the outside of the wall on its east side a residential area was built with a cellar and a gallery and the fortification became a castle. It served as a border fortification in the place where Livonian order’s and Kurland bishop’s territories met (the river Tebra served as the borderline: on the right side – bishopric, on the left – Livonian Order).

We found this museum very interesting in that it showed aspects Soviet's influence even on the the types of dolls that were available for children. This is something that had never occured to us; so glad we went there.

It's a local family that makes their own wine and presents it for tourists, small groups, etc in their winery.
We were there some time ago with my work colleagues and the owner held a great tasting of their wines for us in english.
We can sincerely recommend them!

Aizpute Local History museum is amagnificent and historic, not far fromthe museum is built watermill and I recommend others to visit the museum

This is a very beautiful place because it is located at the top of the hill. Recently next to castle ruins was placed knight's statue.

This beautiful bridge is located at the entrance of a park surrounding the former residence of the Baltic/German Manteuffel family. While the tiny village of Kazdanga is off the beaten path it is well worth visiting. The old manor house is really huge and quite impressive from the exterior and also contains a small but interesting museum area.

Sinds het jaar 1254 staat een kerk op deze heuvel in het authentieke stadje Aizpute. Tot de 16e eeuw was het een katholieke kerk. Daarna werd het een evangelisch Lutherse kerk.
Het uiterlijk van de kerk veranderde in de loop der eeuwen. De huidige kerktoren stamt uit het jaar 1730. Maar de bel is veel ouder en stamt uit het jaar 1589.
Het is een van de oudste kerken van Koerland. De kerk is nationaal monument.
Helaas was de kerk tijdens ons bezoek gesloten. Maar van buiten is het natuurlijk ook een mooi monument. En het plaatsje Aizpute heeft ook veel charme en is een bezoek waard.

Mitt i staden Aizpute står på en öppen plats en liten kyrka och den är katolsk. Oftast åker man förbi kyrkan med sitt fordon och det blir sällan möjlighet att studera kyrkans inre utseende.

De watermolen in Aizpute werd eind 18e eeuw tot begin 19e eeuw gebouwd. De molen ligt idyllisch aan het kleine meer in het stadje Aizpute. De molen ligt langs de hoofdweg van Kuldīga naar Liepāja. Achter de molen zie je op het heuveltje het statige Aizpute Museum voor lokale geschiedenis. Hopelijk krijgt de watermolen weer een mooie bestemming. Op dit moment staat de molen leeg.
