I have been a client at VJW for many years and am so excited to have my first post lockdown appointment booked in. I go fortnightly for gel nails as well as for occasional other treats such as the odd massage or spa day (highly recommended for an indulgent day with a loved one). As well as my nails being very much in need of some TLC I am looking forward to feeling relaxed and pampered there as I always do. The treatments are always luxurious and professional and delivered in such a lovely, relaxing environment. My nails have always been weak and have improved immensely since my regular visits to VJW. All the therapists are professional and friendly making every visit a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Thanks all, have missed you and can’t wait to see you soon.

My partner bought me a pamper package many years ago to this beautiful hidden gem of a spa and I've been a regular ever since gaining VIP status which includes lots of extra treats. I try to make a day of it or at least half a day with treatments in the morning a lovely sandwich lunch and more pampering in the afternoon. The thermal rooms are heavenly and every treatment I have had has been wonderfully relaxing and done extremely professionally by very friendly and knowledgeable therapists. One of the reasons this spa stand out is the personal one to one service and the fact they only allow a limited number of clients at any one time so you are always made to feel extra special. I am also now a convert to the amazing Eve Taylor range, especially the No 6 serum. Unfortunately due to covid-19 the spa is currently closed, so really missing my pamper sessions, can't wait for the spa to reopen and have a well-earned day in the spa, but for now I'm enjoying the weekly distant Reiki sessions on a Sunday between 11.00-11.30am, what a fab idea. I would highly recommend this spa to anyone and everyone, have a look at their website for details of the many treatments, packages and also pictures of the spa, and give yourself an indulgent treat or two, you won't be disappointed. Thank you Maxine and your lovely team for all your 'perfect pampering'.

Live escape room game based in the centre of Huddersfield! You are locked in a room and have an hour to solve a series of puzzles to escape in time!

A brilliant escape room. The games leader was very funny and witty and set the scene perfectly. He explained to us how things would go. The escape room itself was brilliantly decorated and fully immersive. The tasks were difficult but fun and involved the whole team helping out. The clue system was great as there were screens which he typed clues up on to. Can’t wait to come back and try the other room!

Kwas Wine Shop and Bar

Kwas is a small wine shop and bar in the centre of Huddersfield. Just hiding behind Tesco’s. A mere 300 metres walk from the train station. We’ve opened the doors in December 2018 to a world of natural wine, sourcing from independent wine makers, with a variety of surprising tastes. The atmosphere is fun and at Kwas we aim to give you a great experience. We offer a space to drink out, take in, share a bottle with friends or sample by the glass. Join the conversation or relax by yourself. This is our journey into the world of real wines and we’re learning along the way. Come share our passion about simplicity, joy and the fun in life. The shop offers an adaptable art space, with regular gigs, tasting events and more. The Uk’s first 100% vegan wine bar and shop, we are proud of our little establishment. We receive fresh organic sourdough delivered every Wednesday and Friday via our very good friends Triangle Bakehouse. We hope you enjoy the shop. Dunk and Ola x

Standedge Tunnel & Visitor Centre

A unique spot in the heart of the Pennine countryside, Standedge Tunnel is the longest canal tunnel in Britain and makes a perfect family day out. As one of the Seven Wonders of the Waterways visitors can explore deep into the tunnel on one of the family friendly guided boat trips, stop for a bite to eat in the cafe and let the kids jump, climb and explore around our playground and wildlife garden.

As a Yorkshire girl I hate to confess that, until last week, I had never heard of Standedge Tunnel. We had an interesting time in the visitor centre at the Marsden end learning more about the genius, Thomas Telford. After a short ride by boat into the tunnel we took the car over to the western end of the tunnel where we had a lovely walk along the canal, past many locks, to look at the other entrance.

Lawrence Batley Theatre

Reviewed By Elizabeth032

Last Saturday my sister and I had a brilliant night at Lawrence Batley's 'Halloween Spooktacular' event. First thing to say is it was super COVID safe - lots of thought about social distancing and keeping everyone safe. We loved how welcoming this event was - with live music in the courtyard greeting us. And we were super impressed with how LBT had adapted - moving some of the front few rows and installing cabaret type seating gave a whole different feel and a relaxed dynamic to the theatre, whilst recognising social distancing. And the live show was ace - something for everyone & so electic given the 7 member cast. A truly creative responsive & engaging night! We recognised and applauded the planning and thought that had clearly informed this event. We've been to lots of LBT events and are so proud to have such an ace local theatre and would strongly recommnend events here, in particular the Halloween events, which are the cream of the whole year in our opinion! We just wished we had arrived earlier to soak up the ace atmosphere - such a tonic whilst we are expriencing a cultural famine in COVID-19. If LBT is reading this - more of this kind of immersive event would be brilliant!!
