Kieler Woche

The Kiel Regatta takes place in the northern German city of Kiel during the last week of June. It attracts 5,000 sailors on 2,000 ships and yachts with more than 3.5 million visitors per year, making it the world's largest sailing event - it even claims to be the largest summer festival in Europe! There is a large open air music festival, lots of street performers and comedians, an international market and plenty of children's activities, including a children's culture festival.
