The Sabaragamuwa Province, (Sinhalese: සබරගමුව පළාත Sabaragamuwa Palata, Tamil: சபரகமுவ மாகாணம் Sabaragamuwa Maakaanam) is one of the nine provinces of Sri Lanka, the first level administrative division of the country. The provinces have existed since the 19th century but did not have any legal status until 1987 when the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of Sri Lanka established provincial councils. The Sabaragamuwa Province contains two districts: Ratnapura and Kegalle. It is named after its former indigenous inhabitants, namely the Sabara, an indic term for hunter-gatherer tribes, a term seldom used in ancient Sri Lanka. Sabaragamuwa University is in Belihuloya.

Kuragala is a pre-historic archaeological site with ruins of ancient Buddhist Cave temple complex, dating back to the 2nd century BC, in Balangoda, Sri Lanka.

The 2nd century BC temple complex is located on the Balangoda - Kaltota road approximately 24 km away from the Balangoda town. There is bit of hiking and climbing to reach the top. But once you reach the top the view is amazing and also the cave entrance and the remaning stucture of the stupa is there at the top.

This is a small rural monastery. You will get to see people coming and going, taking advantage of all the spiritual aspects of Buddhist daily life. Monks are available to speak with in English about Buddhism and Meditation. This is a popular stop for people visiting the nearby Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.

This is the bungalow of the local leader of this area around British ruling era. He acted against English and had good praise from the local people. This used to be a huge bungalow with over 100 rooms, but now a small portion of it remains. It’s informative and certainly worth a visit if you happen to be in the neighborhood. No entry tickets. A parking area is available but drive carefully from entrance to parking lot since the gravel road is in pretty bad state. Some officials from the archeological department are available there. Ask them for information, they’ll guide you. No point of just visiting without proper information on each section of the property. It take around 40 mins to complete the tour.
