We have regularly visited Kangaroo Island over the past 8 years and each time we call in at Fine Art Kangaroo Island. Fred, the owner, always gives a warm welcome and has a great variety of jewellery, sculptures and paintings, virtually all of which are produced on KI. If you visit Kingscote then I’d recommend calling in to view the latest pieces and have a chat with Fred.

We have been to Cedars before but we didn’t Have enough to see the studio we had a freind come over from Sydney so thought this was a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone. This place is amazing to see where Hans Heysen painted his pictures and the trees are mostly all still standing is just amazing and to have a fabulous artist so close to our city is also amazing. I’m so glad it is all been presented so well as he would have left it as well. Would highly recommended doing all the walk then the gallery.

It is, of course, my opinion that the ACM is the best, as we have been going there each week for 30 years. There is a wide variety of fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, small goods, great pasta, breads, fabulous cheese, vegan and vegetarian foods, herbs and spices, great coffee and snacks. Lucia's cafe serves coffee and cakes but specialises in big breakfasts and Italian food for lunches The market backs onto China Town with its specialty shops and eateries. Regular market tours are available by contacting the administration, there tours are conducted by expert guides and allow tastings of produce. Overseas visitors should put it on their agenda. A visit to the market is no cost unless you wish to buy some of the goodies.

Another great market, with a great atmosphere and a huge range of stalls selling a range of local produce from farmers and growers. The market was within a short walking distance of our self-catering accommodation. And what a good decision it was to go there! Stalls selling dairy products, meats, fresh fruit/veg/salads, wine, cheeses, and much, much more. We bought meat and salads for two evening dinners, all reasonably priced and great quality. Beautiful produce. So glad we visited the market. Very highly recommend a visit. Local people don't know how lucky they are to have such a great Farmer's Market. Or perhaps they do!!

I personally loved the jewellery made from used coffee pods, but my partner loved the wooden bespoke furniture. They also had knitwork, lots of boutique handbags, canvas paintings, metalwork, pottery and glassblown items. The people at reception were very friendly and happily gave us information about other things to do in the area. There was no pressure to buy

Mt Jagged Wines

Mt Jagged Wines is a very picturesque vineyard halfway between McLaren Vale and Victor Harbor. This vineyard enjoys a glorious view over vines, rolling hills and beyond to the Southern Ocean, Coorong and lakes system. Wine varieties include Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Semillon - most of which are bronze medal or better. The proprietors also provide a Cheese Board or Lunch Platter full of local produce of very high quality & wood fire in the winter (with house made soup planned for weekends). And of course tea & coffee with housemade treat. Children are provided with games and drawing materials with complimentary juice boxes.

Each time we go to this winery the hospitality is fantastic, there is a great range of wines with the Sparkling Pink & Sparkling Red being a distinct favourite. The cellar door itself is rustic & quaint with board games for the kids to play whilst you keep yourself busy tasting the extensive range of wines on offer. Indulge yourselves further with a great platter that is available (one of the best by far in SA) and sit either by the fire inside (if it's cold out) or sit outside and admire the amazing views all the way through to the Coorong. This is one stop on Victor Harbor road that you don't want to miss.
