Great place to stay!!

Very clean hotel, with all of the needed amenities. We really enjoyed our stay, and would stay again. Only downside was that our room had the option to open to the adjacent rooms and the doors weren't very soundproof. Also be aware the robes aren't free haha there is a hidden sign indicating their cost :)

Staff are well trained - a credit to this hotel

Stayed for two nights while in Banff. Welcoming hotel with very friendly efficient polite staff. We could not fault our stay here. We used room service facility for breakfast, the laundry service and the hotel lobby /bar area for a meal one night and all experiences were first class service. The hotel was very clean and situated across from the hot springs and next door to the gondolas. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

Excellent but a bit on the pricy side

Reviewed By Brent M

We stayed here at a VRBO for 4 nights in May 2022. The rooms are really nice and very large. The price was a bit more than I expected but we had stayed here before and liked the hot tub and pool area and knew that the rooms were great. Our room had a few minor items that needed fixing but none were that important and didn't affect our enjoyment. I would stay here again

Great accommodation with own kitchen / cooking facilities

Reviewed By KatherineF439

I stayed here for 18 nights and was really pleased with everything about the accommodation. The location is a 5 minute bus ride or 20 min walk into the centre of Banff. You are given a free bus pass to use on the roam bus service which takes you into the centre of Banff . I stayed in a one bedroom ground floor studio apartment . Open plan bedroom / kitchen / dining lounge area . Exceptionally clean with great little kitchen for those wanting to cook their own meals. Unusual to have a full sized fridge/ freezer and cooker oven but great when cooking for 4 . Enjoyed the real fire and free wood was a bonus . Laundry room and gym a plus . Pool looked good but didn’t use as was skiing everyday , The staff were so helpful and nothing was ever too much bother . I asked for extra hangers , baking tray , corkscrew and everything was delivered to my door within minutes . A special shout out to Harri (apologies for spelling ? ) who was on reception . Always smiling , professional and extremely helpful with everything from recommendations to making sure I had everything I needed . A real asset to the company . You could have the room made up , cleaned , fresh linen , towels whenever you requested which was great . Had an issue with noise from other rooms in the evening but this was dealt with very quickly and the issue resolved . Lovely balcony looking over the mountains and perfect spot for seeing wild deer .

Outstanding Location & Staff, But Could Really Use Some TLC

Reviewed By Paula B

We did a timeshare-exchange into this venue for a week. Our 2-bedroom unit was upstairs and away from resort/road noise, so quiet. We agree with other recent reviews about the resort's condition showing its age and feel sorry for its owners. We used the 3rd floor tub/shower as the 2nd flr shower's grout was nasty, some furniture pieces could use replacing, the laundromat appliances need a good scrubbing and the parking area cries for repaving. That being said, the resort's proximity to the towns of Banff & Canmore, along with all the must-see sights in Banff Park, would incent us to stay here again. Considering the issues (and the complaints it must generate) the staff were amazingly pleasant, engaging and helpful. Although we detest the now-typical extra "resort fee", this place would benefit from adding a slight amount per stay, to help with touch-ups. It has potential to be so much better.

Big Disappointment

Reviewed By Ashley M

Understanding that COVID has taken a toll on the hospitality industry, a resort such as Solara should recognize that it means that much more for travellers to once again get out and spend time with family. This trip was planned for our entire family which included 6 adults and 2 kids and we received a unit that was unacceptable. The patio off the living room could fit 2 people and yet we’ve stayed in a premium suite before that should have been the same with a much larger patio for all of us to sit and eat. This is not noted on the website when you book a three bedroom premium suite, pictures show something different. Floors were dirty, garbage was still left behind in the desk, oven was dirty, dishes still in dishwasher for us to put away. Pool is a dump. Theatre was closed. We borrowed bikes and luckily enough we found 2 that had air in the tires, unlike the rest that were flat and all dusty in the back area that guests shouldn’t have to walk through. For what they still charge and what you get, is not appropriate. I’m also shocked that check in was 5, although we got in later than that because of the disorganization and rudeness of the front staff. And then they want you to check out at 10am. $450 well spent? Don't think so. As an Alberta local, I want to support these tourist areas after the last two years, but when you have other choices, they will lose out on repeat stays and won’t be returning again.

Sunset Mountain Inn & Spa

A good winter retreat

Reviewed By Bonnie P

Solo woman traveller stayed a week in mid December on a time share exchange with Interval Int. Good location with in walking distance of many amenities. Enjoyed the Canmore museum and drove up for x-c sking at the Nordic Center ( one needs an provincial pass for parking there ) Had a two bedroom, second floor with jacuzzi which was relaxing and the fireplace made the ambience perfect. Well supplied kitchen. Appreciated second bedroom for family visiting on the weekend. Sounds carry between units and some late night revellers next door could be heard. An advance email sent about check in and would recommend calling to confirm. The resort is at times short staffed. During my stay however were very responsive to requests and have daily housekeeping knocks for emptying garbage. At one point a repair to leaky toilet needed and done promptly. Underground parking included and one elevator not working but other one Ok with access to your floor. As several resorts together make sure you have the correct parking entrance. Access to all areas needing a code and personally getting into my room at first was a challenge. Would cancel after 3 digit pressed. Staff came and helpful. A daily resort fee for use of the nearby pool. The pool itself was good including and outdoor hot tub and good for families as had a water slide. No change rooms just washrooms. One had to cross outdoors and use a code for entry, The one time I used at night had to go to main check-in and front door frozen shut. Thankfully staff at desk.
