Absolutely worth a detour. The viking carvings with many wonderful details are on a large flat stone, hidden in the woods. Look for the explanation sign. You can park nearby and walk in the woods.

A church which definitely scores as a grand monument. Lovely interiors. They even have a child role-play area. The family loved it!

Beautiful castle and grounds with a lot to see and do. Petting zoo, animal (pet) information center that is very interesting for kids, small houses with different displays and a nice restaurant. We decided not to do the daily lunch but when they were putting it on display we were quite disappointed we didn't as it looked amazing! So this will be our stop when we are near by again for lunch :)

Sormlandsgarden is an open-air museum on Djurgarden in Eskilstuna. Here you find buildnings that show a typical inter-Swedish farm in the 19th century. Around it is beautiful nature and nice picknick or walking areas. During the summer you can join and cut sheep, cook in an old way, play old games or say hi to the animals. Open June-August, with activities Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday.

Lagersbergs sateri (Lagersbergs manor) is one of Sweden's best-preserved karoliner manors with a history dating back to the Middle-ages. Located about 3 km southwest of Eskilstuna center in Sormland, it offers an exciting history. Summertime, you can enjoy concerts, free guided tours and a cafe.
