The Loople (hop-on, hop-off) one-day pass is a great way to see the attractions of Sendai. We made the mistake of doing it on a Monday, when most of the museums and other attractions are closed.

Regional JR Pass is a new form of travel available for foreigners in Japan. The Pass can be purchased abroad with 1000 yen discount but can be purchased also in Japan at the JR Ticket Offices. JR East offers a great innovation: a 5 days flexible Pass for the two weeks period. You do not need to travel during the straight 5-days period, but can select any of days (totally five in my case) during the next two weeks. This was inexpensive way of travel around the East Japan (Aomori, Sendai, Nikko, Tokyo, and even the Narita Airport) and I used all 5 days during my last visit in Japan.

Japanese are very proud of their Shinkansen (fast train) system. I support that entirely. It is fast, comfortable, and very reliable. The journey from Morioka to Tokyo took only slightly over two hours. After years of expansion, the system is now very extensive. Japanese behave very well in train. There is no need to worry about noise or rowdies. You can be rest assured of a comfortable ride. The train provides free WiFi and there are sockets for charging. The fare is not cheap though. As foreigners, we can purchase a JR pass. For about US $190, we can enjoy unlimited ride for five days (any five), and that is a bargain.

a one-day pass is definitely worth it. Stops at major tourist attractions and having buses going to both directions gives options to jump on and off without waiting at the bus stop between sights
