The 10 best Lodges in Queenstown, New Zealand

May 1, 2023 Tonie Szymanski

Staggering beauty and heart-pumping thrills await in the resort town of Queenstown, which is also known for its Hobbits—much of the Lord of the Rings trilogy was filmed in the area. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to Queenstown for the kayaking, bungee jumping, jetboating, white-water rafting, hiking and skiing. More mild-mannered adventurers can take a quiet cruise through nearby Milford Sound, part of the Fjordland National Park World Heritage area, or sample South Island pinot noir from one of the region's 75 wineries.

Great view

The place seems a little run down and the walls were very thin. Bed was comfortable and the view from the balcony was amazing. There were only 3-4 off-street parks and this was awkward for our tour van with its luggage trailer. The road is very busy but rooms were at the back so noise wasn't too bad. It was great to be able to choose our own breakfast items from the buffet instead of having preselected items delivered to the room.

Basic doesn't have to mean yuck.

We have been pretty lucky in the past with accommodations but this time, our luck ran out. The room had clear indications of disrepair, the second day we put the sign out for our room to ve cleaned, came back and nothing was done. The next day we put the sign out, the bed was made amd rubbish gone - and we finally had dry towels again! - but the dishes were still dirty in the sink. Not what I wanted to deal with on holiday, guys! I rang the office to complain, got an answerphone and no call back. Really disappointed.

We absolutely loved this little gem of a BnB. The host is so welcoming and the place is clean, comfortable and very well presented. The spa was fantastic on a cold afternoon. Breakfast the next day was divine. Overall just a perfect stay and we can definitely recommend to anyone looking for lovely accommodation out of Queenstown.

Booked here for 3 nights suppose to of got a room with a balcony and a king bed. Was put on ground floor, the "king" bed was 2 singles pushed together so there was a crack separating the 2 beds. Also a bug came out of the shower to greet me. Not nice. Also communal kitchen was disgusting, months worth of grime on the stove tops and most dishes were dirty

Remarkables Queenstown

Expensive, not clean and no facilities

Reviewed By carolineovenstone

Definitely not perfect accommodation and badly advertised. Not serviced, not clean and no facilities. Left over food left in sink, which we had to clean before using the kitchen, floors not clean or vacuumed. Stove and kitchen in pictures but does not work. Beds and rooms okay but definitely not what we expected and will not stay again. Ran out of basics like toilet paper and owner not contactable when we needed assistance.

Location, Location, Location

We have just spent five nights in Queenstown staying at the Brunswick Lodge, which was everything we hoped for from the open fire (yep even in December) to the living area and bedrooms, it was fantastic. The location is perfect, you could leave the Lodge and walk to the centre of Queenstown in under ten minutes so no hassles with traffic and parking, which can be a challenge during the holiday season. The view from the living area and upstairs bedrooms is sublime with uninterrupted views of the Remarkables and the waterways around Queenstown with the vista changes constantly. As promised, we were met by the lovely Laura who showed us around the Lodge and gave us hints on shopping and suggestions on things to do and places to eat, a real added bonus. If you are heading for Queenstown and looking for somewhere special to stay with the family you cannot go past Brunswick Lodge, it is a special property.

Trelawn Place

Trelawn Place is a country home 5 minutes (4km) drive from central Queenstown. We offer a unique rural riverside location for weddings. Often we are told this venue is the best for outside weddings in the country. Nery and Michael are well traveled hosts.

Fabulous, private, pet friendly accommodation

Reviewed By DavidG704

Our family had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Trelawn over Xmas. It is not your usual hotel and motel accommodation, and more of an exclusive lodge setting. The Stone Cottage and apartment are very cute, tidy, well appointed and comfortable. The location above Skippers Canyon, immaculate grounds, gardens and sunny aspect are very relaxing. We were able to both eat at home and enjoy the property, and also venture into Queenstown, Arthurs Point and Arrowntown at our convenience. It is only 5 minutes into Queenstown. We will return to Trelawn.
