Sustainable Hotel with super friendly and motivated staff
Reviewed By V8903ODfranknI am writing this review as a German traveler, traveling in beginning of June 2022, after the borders were opened recently. Therefore, it is understandable, that not everything works perfectly yet. Zoe's Paradise is really a paradise. It is run by a Swiss/Indonesian couple. I was very warm welcomed and was offered a free upgrade to a room with balcony. I had a very good time there, with all staff being extremely friendly and helpful, e.g., when checking possible ways to get to Medan from Parapat (Spoiler: it's not very easy at the Moment). The hotel is clean, the rooms good. However, my bathroom was comparably small. But okay. The pool and its facilities are also nice and clean, with two slides. The hotel aims for sustainability, which I can fully support. You see this e.g. by the absence of AC and the shampoo dispenser instead of little one-time bottles. Very nice. When I left, I was given an impressive local present. That was really cool and again underlines the familiarity in this hotel. In general the hotel is very good equipped with things I often miss in a 4* hotel, e.g. slippers, a socket extension, pool towels ready, extra pillows.... Once again, thank you very much for this great stay with you. Hope to see you soon again. In summary: + Very friendly and helpful staff + It's a very nice feeling, that all staff know your name + Spacious room, but small bathroom + Very nice pool area with two slides and stuff for kids to play. + Western standard in several areas (e.g. socket extension cord... Jap, the small things make the stay there more comfortable) + Good breakfast, with lots of variety in fruits. But providing more butter and jam/honey would be good. + Stable WiFi, good water pressure and overall well organized - there was quite a lot of rubbish (water bottle etc.) and plants in the water in front of the hotel. This surely not comes from the hotel, but cleaning it would be better and makes a better feeling when starting to swim. - lunch/dinner food, as there is no chef currently. So there is only nasi goreng and mie goreng available. However, I was told that they are currently hiring a chef. - laundry service, it returned half of my clothes still being dirty. The management excused a lot for this issue and will talk to their laundry providers to improve. >>>>> In summary summary: I can highly recommend staying there and hope that with more tourist coming, some shortcomings are removed automatically. If I travel to Lake Toba again, I will definitely stay at Zoe's again, as it was a very open and friendly stay.

Reviewed By iisechew?Lake Toba, Indonesia For ONLY Rm 100 one-way ( KL - Lake Toba) and Rm 50/night in Romlan Guesthouse, Lake Toba was perhaps one of the most memorable and AFFORDABLE holidays I've shared with Michelle. ?Picture swimming in an enchanting volcanic blue lake that spans the horizon, with mountainous backdrops and blue skies, feasting on produce from rich volcanic soil and an abundance of the freshest fish, sleeping without the need of air-conditioning due to the cool temperatures.. That's Lake Toba in a nutshell.. The perfect holiday, with the best of culinary delights and fruit juices all from this incredibly rich and fertile land.. ?We spent our days just frolicking in the cool waters, gliding on the lake with our kayaks (it was FREE), having a gastronomic adventure that spanned from authentic German pastries to incredible Indonesian flavours. Apparently, the owner of Romlan's Guesthouse is a German, thus explaining the amazing German cuisine whipped up by the local chefs. The Fish 'Tombur' with their signature Spicy Batak Sauce was a KILLER. I have not found a better tasting spicy sauce than that (this dish takes 3 hours to prepare). ?Arriving to our destination was relatively easy. On our flight, we were already able to view the entirety of Lake Toba from above; it was breath-taking. A three hour drive from the airport would bring you the jetties, in which a ferry will take you DIRECTLY to your appointed hotel, all in the middle of the lake at an island called Samosir Island. It is for certain that I will return to this magical retreat. It's the ideal picture of the perfect retreat.

Wonderful place
Reviewed By LINDAJERSYStayed 4 nights but didn’t want to leave. Perfect spot right on the shore on the quiet end of town yet less than 10 minutes walk to Bagus bay across the peninsula. Huge room, comfy bed, western toilet hot water shower and a balcony to watch the world go by. good value and nice host to deal with. The ferry from parapet will drop you there and collect you from the steps below. There are 3 good places to eat within a 5 minutes walk. Good music and view in the bamboo bar but the sweet and sour fish in the warung next door was amazing and they do have a sea view.

Our hotel is located at the most scenic place in Tuktuk. Most of our guests said they have the best sleep at our place because of our prime location, far from the busy city life, and more like a family get-away and get-together place.. Our tuktuk location is famous for Fishing, Sunbathing, BBQ, Gathering, Picnic on a mat activities under the trees and gazebo. Ideal for holiday and relaxation. Lake Toba will make any stay comfortable and memorable. Our location is also within 1 minute walking distance to bike/motorbike rental if you would love to enjoy biking around the Tuktuk peninsula or even around the Samosir Island. There are local restaurants (Pizza, etc) and cafe around our place so you can have the most enjoyable vacation. Meeting room for 50 people is also available.
Extremely disappointing stay
Reviewed By British-Male12I visited beautiful Lake Toba and decided to stay at this hotel as it is right by the lake, however there were numerous issues with my visit as follows: - No WiFi in my room for the first two days of my visit - No hot water from the bathroom tap - Very limited hot water from the shower - Frosted glass above the toilet which didn't provide adequate privacy - Curtains that didn't cover the width of the window - Room not cleaned by staff once during my entire stay - Extremely loud karaoke with full sound system in the hotel grounds set up by other guests that finished at 4am and started again at 8am!!! Totally ruined my last night there. Based on the above, I will not be staying again unfortunately.

We are friendly , has comfortable bed, nice view to the lake, mountain and villagers garden. When you stay a month or a year we give you different price half of this rate on the web . We are close to restaurants , pub, grocery , health center , ATM , beauty salon , public boat port , beach , mountain, traditional villages with Batak housing, tourism places , ancient weaver , and traditonal markets .

Selling point in hot tub but then the water is freezing cold in 80% of the time . They dont have any hotwater . Everything here is self service (which involves climbing big stairs ) I know samosir is pleasant weather at night , but on day you sweat a lot . They have no fans in room / no AC / Not a breeze if windows are closed They definitely have a lot of mosquitos in room when you open the window Best part were the host , 1. Host tried to trick us with taxi from medan , and with a driver who couldnt speak english , who kept on making stops for locals even when we had booked the whole cab , and at end host started saying the amount fixed is for driver and we even need to pay for Taxi Manager , Basically kept on increasing the price and cheat us . 2. Tried charging us for breakfast even though it was included in the booking 3. Gave us wrong directions to catch the ferry to parapat . 4. Didnt keep a bike ready for us even when it was promised 1 week in advance 5. When we tried renting bike from Local (nice guy) host tried intefering and told the nice guys to increase the price We survived the trip somehow , all other people we had interactions in samosir and parapat were great , every resturant , shopkeeper that we talked or ate in , had great hosipality

Reggae Guest House has 7 rooms right down on the Lake. You can practically jump from the front door into the lake. The restaurant has the best views of sunset over Lake Toba. They have a combination of standard rooms and 2 traditional Batak houses. Every night, musician are playing Reggae and Batak music. Come and enjoy some Bintang with us.
Location, location, location!
Reviewed By 4travel4everLocated in the western corner of Tuktuk Island right next to its upmarket neighbour Toledo Inn, reggae GH has the best views over Lake Toba. The rooms down at the Lake are basic and a bit scruffy, but have hot water showers. Stay here if you want to clean your stressed mindful head and breathe in clean Lake air. Staff here was helpful and food tasty. Wifi only Works upstairs at the reception though. The boat back to Parapat departs right next to your room.
