Nice one night stay

Reviewed By Lynda B

We needed to stay on the North Shore for a night during a recent road trip, and chose Anzac Court after looking through TripAdvisor reviews. We booked a deluxe studio unit. We arrived at 2.40pm and checked in. We were in unit 4, with a car park outside. $189 for a night which was a fair price given we were in Auckland. The office lady was friendly. The unit was pretty small, but it had everything we needed. It was nicely appointed and very clean. There was a four-slice toaster, which was great as normally motels have two sliced ones. We make toast for our breakfast when we’re on a road trip. There were some toiletries that we were invited to take away with us, including a toothbrush/small toothpaste set and shaving kit. A nice touch. The bed was very comfortable, and it was a king sized bed. Would definitely stay here again if we’re wanting to stay on the North Shore.

1990’s residential appartments with a few hotel rooms

Clean and tidy, great views from the dirty windows, 1990’s decor. Bed not very comfortable but the suite I stayed in was large and spacious. They didn’t do breakfast or lunch and the one meal they usually did, dinner, was cancelled as the head chef didn’t come in - do they only have cook?

Not Motel more like Emergency Housing

Booking made over phone for room for 2 staying 2 nights Dec 30 & 31st 2021, upon arrival for check in find no booking had been recorded. No COVID questions asked no Passport request!!! They did accommodate us with a ground floor unit which was filthy, windows, blinds, shower blocked so water backed up, had to wash dishes before use. GROSS Next door unit was emergency housing, felt there was no privacy, very uncomfortable. Staff came to us on second day asking us to move to a different unit as they had obviously double booked the room, How Rude. Definitely will not be staying here ever again

Extremely underwhelming stay

Reviewed By Jamesheke

This place is probably one of the worst Motels in the North shore now. No sky, No amenities, Cheap toaster and Jug from the 1990s. All the furniture is either destroyed or half broken in every single room including the desk, bed, Kitchen draws Bathroom shower and sinks. Every single room has some type of issue ranging from horrible to... oh my god... is that black mold growing on the roof in the bathroom??? Not to mention the wifi here is absolutely horrendous. I've asked many.. Many times at reception if they could speed my internet up because the only Amenity avalible to me is my own laptop and maybe using the wireless. Latency ranging from 120-475ms even though you're within 20 meters of the Wireless router the internet speed is so bad... It makes Dial up look good. At least dial was reliable... The wifi here?? Absolutely not. For 100 dollars per night this place is honestly one of the worst places to stay in the north shore for such a small price. Then again... It's also heading in the right direction being a cheap piece of crap hotel if that is their goal. Even the staff who work there say this is a crap hotel and everything about it is dogshlt. Not a good sign when even the staff admit the place sucks.... This place use to be amazing and now it's run down... left unfixed. It's like the place needs 10 grand dumped into it for revitalization but the owners simply don't give a F.

Quest Takapuna

Convenient

Reviewed By DRandMS

I selected this property as it was convenient to Milford and family in Auckland. Reception staff were very friendly, the room and amenities were excellent. Perfect location. If you are visiting people in North Shore hospital, it's right across the road. But if, like me, you just need to be close to Milford or Takapuna, it's a good central location.

Thailand in Takapuna!

This place is enchanting - a little oasis a block from downtown Takapuna! The complex is focused round the pool and lush gardens. When we visited it was hot and sultry on the shore, adding to a delightful and beguiling vibe of being in Asia. We had the spa bath room. First floor, rear of the complex over looking the pool and gardens. It was a quiet weekend -in town and at the inn-so nothing to disturb us. Room was completely fit for purpose. Spacious, clean and cleverly refurnished and finished to add that tropical location vibe! I LOVED the palm cushions and jungle quilt! Comfy bed, crisp sheets. All windows open, a very small balcony and thank heavens for the fan! The bathroom was new and the spa bath- filled with cool water- was a good size and a nice touch. There’s a basic kitchenette with fridge, microwave and adequate crockery and utensils etc. There’s no obvious recycling and all products are single use. Staff were friendly and efficient. Lovely place and experience, that I’d recommend and will stay again.

Friendly reception, but half way through a renovation - should come at a discount

We got a Grabeone deal to this hotel, which has been rebranded as The Carnmore. It was over $330 for two nights and the photos looked lovely. In fact it is all in 50/50 mid major repair with cracked and peeling shared spaces, hilarious basement 'gym' facility with 3 pieces of rusty equipment and a shared shower open to the room with no lock on the space! Our bedroom was warm, dry and comfortable though, and mostly refurbished. However it was oddly unfinished with cracked door to the bathroom, no shower door or towel rails. And it's really not a 'studio' as it doesn't have cooking facilities, just the usual hotel kettle and small fridge, microwave and a toaster. The wider space smells mouldery due to sodden hessian on the bank where they're trying to get things to grow combined with the rotten carpet throughout the main halls and old rooms that are being re-done. It is also on a main road, with mostly views of either the street or car park. So just be aware it's not a cosy hideaway. Great walking distance to Takapuna Centre though. And as said was warm, dry and friendly. I just don't think they should be charging that much for something that is in such a transitional state. We felt a bit let down as it was a 10th wedding anniversary treat for us. Not to worry - warm and dry plus Olympics on tap did us alright in the end :)

We absolutely loved this spot. The waterfront powered sites are amazing with a view of both Takapuna beach and Rangitoto Island. It’s also very close to lots of eats in Takapuna. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and kept us in mind when a waterfront spot became available. Would highly recommend this holiday park!
