The reception was friendly and parking was successful in the parking garage. The hotel was in a good and central location. Nice little town near by salzburg.

From the quality of the staff and food, to the swimming pools, gym, wellness centre, bedrooms and location of the Alpendorf gondola, less than 100 metres and Salzburg airport only a 45 minute car journey, this hotel has it all. We have stayed here numerous times and will be returning again.

Reviewed By X6690VNdavidcWe stayed here during our ski holiday over New Year 21/22. Before we arrived, Hotel reception were really helpful in sorting our last minute requests out. On arrival we were welcomed and given our room keys quickly. The bedrooms themselves were comfortable, although not as big and modern as some in the area. However, the hotel as a whole was clean and the indoor and outdoor pool were great fun for the kids after a hard day on the slopes. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We stayed half board and the evening meals were very good. The staff were polite, professional and friendly. They were very attentive, and fun. They totally made our holiday. Shout out to Robbie, Maria and Lumi in the resturant and Heidi on the front desk - thank you! As a note for skiers, this was our first time staying in St Johann rather than the foot of the slopes in Alpendorf and I would definitely recommend it. The ski bus was only a 100m away from the hotel, and only 2 stops to the Gondelbahn. From a skiing perspective, the only downside was that it was a bit of a schlapp up to the 6 man if you wanted to avoid the gondola queues, but not impossible... depends on your group. The other bonus was that you could easily walk in to town and enjoy the shops, bars and restaurants, if you wanted. I have given 5 stars because our experience was truly 5 star.

A wonderful place.
Reviewed By Tom MWe visited during the last week of the ski season. The gondola is a short stroll away. Everything at the hotel is of the highest quality and the staff members are unfailingly polite,kind and cheerful. Food of the best local ingredients cooked to perfection and served with smooth efficiency. Our little 4 year old grandson was looked after throughout as were we all. Highly recommend this special hotel.

Annoying noise from renovations
Reviewed By thebutchStaff and food have always been really good. The location is fantastic. However this time we left early owing to a number of rooms being renovated. And I don’t mean wallpaper and paint. Full on power tools shortly after 8am and in the afternoon. So if you like lie-ins and afternoon naps, then maybe avoid for now which is disappointing. When you’re paying that sort of money for a room, then renovation noise shouldn’t be allowed at all, but the owner doesn’t seem to care and it’s out of the hands of the staff. We got moved to another room, but could still hear the noise like it was next door. As said, we departed early and went to a lovely hotel in Bad Hofhastein.More Cheers, Neill

Reviewed By ren_k787It’s all great! The location, the staff, the food, the wellness. The heated skiroom is located at the terras, the ski-lift on a 50m distance (skiing). You book half-board but receive full board, because of the “Jause”, which is a tasty and complete lunch. We just came back from our 20st visit and we promise you, if you come here once you are as addicted to this hotel as we are.

Reviewed By dakkersWe stayed 2 nights in September and was more than surprised at the quality of the place. The staff were attentive, the food was excellent and the facilities perfect. Attention to detail, they obviously recognise people are there to enjoy the mountains and hike, so they provide a rucksack (and umbrella) in each room. The wellness area is clean and there are lots of sauna options (I particularly liked the outside hut) One last thing to note: the evening dinners were EXCELLENT. 4 - 5 courses, all very tasty. 4 choices of main, including a vegetarian. And the Wine Book (not menu) is extensive.

The convenience of the hotel to the train station, the ski slope and the town make the hotel a great place to stay. The food is exceptional and the family are friendly, welcoming and made our stay comfortable. We really recommend this beautiful hotel and we’ll definitely be back. Thank you Christina and Moritz. :)

Reviewed By rolofromaustriaI can only say the very best about this hotel! Unbeatably beautiful view from the terrace and most rooms. The location is truly special, much better than all the hotels in the center of Alpendorf nearby. The owners an all the staff are super nice and friendly, service is excellent and constantly exceeded our high expectations! The melas are good, just what you would expect in such a property (although nothing to write home about). Spa area and indoor pool are very nice and the view from the lawn where you can enjoy your sunbath is spectacular – really as nice as on the webpage! The wine list is well composed and reasonably priced. The rooms are nice only (some of the) bathrooms are quite small and could do with some renewal. But all in all, Gut Berg is a dream of a mountain hotel and good value for money. We will definitely be back – next time in Winter.

Fantastic jewel in Austria

The hotel and rooms are spotless, the food is plentiful and of very high quality. The only thing we missed was the soup and little cakes for afternoon tea, but the chips and pasta were OK.
