We enjoyed an early dinner at the restaurant prior to the short walk to the town center for the night watchman's tour. The updated rooms were clean and comfortable in the quiet center of town. We awoke refreshed, had a nice breakfast, and continued exploring the city and views prior to departing. They have a luggage room you can use to help with further exploring - we checked out early then picked up our stuff when it was time to collect our car. The people and service were great and we'd highly recommend this place for an easy and enjoyable stay in the city center.

Great to be able to borrow hotel bikes for a lovely ride in the beautiful countryside. Helpful and efficient staff. Shame the swimming pool is so tiny.

We had to come a day later and leave a day earlier and they were really accommodating and didn’t charge us for cancelling at the last moment. We really appreciated that! Breakfast was the best we had in Europe at SNT if our hotels.

Reviewed By FranziskaS289My daughter had to be admitted to a hospital in Ulm on short notice so I tried to move my reservation by a few days. I have the highest elite status at Best Western but the hotel was nevertheless unwilling to support my request. I only received the heartless comments that I should have had a travel insurance and that the car ride to Ulm is less than two hours each way on the Autobahn. Other than this problem the hotel was pretty clean and the buffet sumptuous.

At the foot of the Marienberg fortress (1.2 Miles/2 km), you will find the fully air-conditioned 3-star Hotel Mercure Wurzburg am Mainufer. The hotel is just 5 minutes' walk from the historic old town, is situated close to the Wurzburg Congress Centrum (approx. 547 Yards/0.5 Km) and has direct access to the River Main hiking trail. All 116 rooms were completely renovated in September 2012 and feature high-speed Internet and free WIFI. The hotel also has a bar and an indoor car park (subject to charge).

Reviewed By Richard BThis is a typical Mercure, nice clean functional room, very comfortable bed. All the staff spoke perfect English and were very helpful. Breakfast was really excellent with hot food, pastries, cold meats, and fruit. The location is absolutely perfect. You are within an easy 5 minute walk of the famous Marienbruck (lovely bridge over the river). The bridge leads on to the whole of central Wurzburg, and the Residenz Palace is only 15-20 minutes from the hotel. The Marienburg fortress is also worth a visit for the views over the city, and again is only 20 minutes walk from the hotel. The only real issue with this hotel is the parking. It is quite limited, although I guess that is not unusual in the centre of a big city. Half the spaces in the underground car park are located on steep metal ramps. We were in a small SUV and managed to get on to the ramp fairly easily, but while we were parking we witnessed two other estate cars both struggling to get on to the ramps - their low ground-clearance meant they grounded at both ends. Conversely, I think a large SUV would not have fitted the spaces. We would definitely go back to this Mercure. The location is so good, and Wurzburg is a great place to visit.

Reviewed By Misty YWow, is the first thing that comes to mind! We were greeted with a warm welcome from the owners and provided us with a ton a valuable information about the town. Then we went to our room which was a suite on the top floor! WOW, very spacious, wonderfully decorated with beautiful original beams running across the ceiling. The beds were very extremely comfortable, breakfast was amazing. It’s just truly a GEM. The only negative thing: Is we will have to leave.

The food was delicious but I’ve never felt so uncomfortable or unwanted traveling outside of the USA. Dirty looks from waitress, taking orders from three other groups seated after us, repeatedly having to ask for water, waiting until the room was almost empty to receive the check (busy clearing table for no one waiting), greeting was forced and insincere at best while others were greeted in a warm and friendly manner. My husband who is very good at ignoring these sorts of things said he would have walked out if it wasn’t raining so hard. The food was very good once it finally arrived but the hostility couldn’t be overlooked. We’ve traveled to Japan, Italy, Netherlands, France, Spain and other parts of Germany and we’ve never been treated like this. It was sad and disappointing. We went through a travel agency to book this multi country vacation and we will let them know to steer other Americans away from places where we aren’t wanted.

Good Value for Wurzburg
Reviewed By gaa0805The GHotel and Living in Wurzburg proved to be a good choice. We booked one of the executive rooms that was large and located on the higher floor. Our view was of the city and the Marienberg Fortress. Its location is relatively near the railroad station, and it proved to be ana advantage as we did do a train trip to Rothenburg au Tauber on one of days there. However, it is away from the old center, and can be walked in about 20 minutes. This is a typical European hotel as the bathroom was basic, and the room was very modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent, and the choices were plentiful.

Our room was on the 1st floor (2nd for those of us from the U.S.), quite roomy and tastefully decorated. The bathroom had the most beautiful tile work and the bedroom had plenty of lighting and lots of storage. Bedding was very plush and comfortable. Breakfast was great with plenty of options including eggs made to order and everyone that we came in contact with was so friendly and accommodating. We wish we had been able to stay for a third night, it was so good. Excellent all around!

Business hotel with great kitchen

The restaurant currently has limited lunch hours due to covid restrictions but meals can be pre-ordered for events and they were absolutely delicious and served in more than substantial quantity. They have a changing menu for dinner every night but their all la carte menu is also available with but not exclusively a really good flammkuchen. The rooms are simple but comfortable so overall the Luitpoldpark is a great base in Füssen, just across the street from the train station and a five minute walk away from the historic old town.
