Good food but expensive and medium size portions
Reviewed By gifty62Stopped for dinner while visiting the area. Food was good but portions were a bit small size. Service a bit slow but waitresses were very kind. Recommend, as it seems good class restaurant but not for big meals.

Very expensive for what it is.
Reviewed By Rina GIt took us forever to find this hotel driving from Zurich airport as it is not on the Satnav even on the local one in the car. Checking in was very easy. The room on the 2nd floor was a nice size but the beds were extremely hard and the bathroom was a real let down. The shower cubicle is so small that a slight movement and you would hit the shower handle and switch it off. Turning it back on would mean cold shower for a bit. They have no air conditioning or fans. It was extremely hot that week. If you opened the windows or patio door than there were all the mozzies to tackle. They did not change the bedding all the time we were there. Really stingy with the shower gel and shampoo and no conditioner. Breakfast is good but the same every day. Very good bread. There is a charge for parking which they don’t tell you when you check in. The bar shuts at 10 so you can’t get a late drink. They even lock the front door at 10pm.

Lovely stay, peaceful, good location
Reviewed By Griso_manWe opted for the half board deal. Out of the three evening meals, one was very good, the rest were nothing special. Service on the whole very good. Nancy was the standout from a service perspective. Breakfast was excellent, only downside was being told there were limited tables on the terrace. We asked at reception if we could book a breakfast table on the terrace and were told there was no need the terrace was open. Next morning we were told again only limited tables. We needed to set up our own table with cutlery cups etc as the staff were not very accommodating..felt like we were an inconvenience. Rooms very nice, only negative was light coming in through the thin curtains, and a rather hard bed. Beautiful location, close to the ferry dock. Views lovely. Free use of bicycles. Will go again, but choose bed and breakfast as the a la carte option for dinner is far superior.

This family-run hotel is beautifully situated on the island of Reichenau, just 500 metres from Lake Constance. Hotel Insel-Hof offers a large garden with a sun terrace. The hotel Insel-Hof is a historic 200-year-old building on the site of a Medieval monastery. Rooms are individually furnished with stucco ceilings and marble-style bathrooms. All rooms include a flat-screen TV, safe and a minibar, and some also have a lake view. A breakfast buffet is prepared each morning in the stylish restaurant. Apartment stay not main hotel..would advise caution..
Reviewed By Griso_manIf you book the apartment, be careful, we had the impression the owners were careful with the up front information they provided. The main hotel was fully booked, but we were pleased to be offered the apartment which is located 900 m away from the main hotel. The price was communicated and we provided the rather extensive list of information including credit card details to guarantee the room. Upon arrival, we were taken to the apartment and informed WiFi password was located in the opposite building. When looking for WiFi there was none in the apartment, calling the hotel we were told no WiFi..surprise number 1. We travelled each day for breakfast to the main hotel, the selection was good and option to sit out if weather permits. Annoyingly, WiFi in the restaurant is touch and go, and combined with a lack of 4g on the island is frustrating especially if you need to upload medical data regularly. What was really disappointing was when we were having breakfast on the last day and were asked to pay cash for the full amount (surprise number 2 according to the owner - to avoid the owners booking the revenue through the hotel) the nearest cash point was pointed out. There was no way we were going to pay the bank charge to withdraw cash at a rival bank, there was no up front request for cash, we even had to guarantee the room with a credit card. When paying the owner even said “ I hear you cannot pay cash, I will now have to cross book the charge” and grudgingly accepted the card payment. If we were told upfront only cash, we could have withdrawn the money prior to leaving for the hotel, we could have decided to stay somewhere else, we would not have to have had that experience. Overall the apartment is nice, good location, good facilities (exception is no WiFi in the room). The experience can be spoilt by the service and lack of transparency of the owners. Be careful.

Just the place for families with children
Reviewed By Pat RThis place was chosen by my wife for our summer holiday 2018.A great choice.The place is run by the Catholic Diocese of Frieburg and is superb for those with children under 18 wanting to enjoy a relaxing holiday.The place has its own beach and you can get three cooked meals per day.For hard working mums and house husbands that alone is a treat!The meals are terrific and filling and they even have a vegetarian menu and can cater for those with other dietary problems.The accomodation is acceptable,not luxary and there is no TV.However the free WLAN for those who really need it will make up for it!They have their own private beach with stunning views to Switzerland and the Untersee.Trips around the Island are easy,my wife and I walked the whole Island whilst the children entertained themselves playing with the other children.To see the whole Island and its gems properly,we found one week was not enough!The hotel will give you a packed lunch if you are going out for the day.Forgot to mention that they also have special groups for children with both morning and afternoon sessions and a disco on the friday evening before the weekly change over.We tokk 3 of our children aged 11,14 & 16 and they decided not to join in the activities arranged but still all had a great time and made frinds.The 11 year old spent most of her time in the water and was adapt at cannoeing by the end of the week!Prices are resonable and large families can claim help with staying here if they live in Bayern.

Reviewed By 247danielbJ'ai aimé : Chambre assez spacieuse et au calme Bonne literie Parking Je n'ai pas trop aimé : Petit-déjeuner avec très peu de choix.....On doit cocher sur une liste ce que l'on souhaite et il n'y a pas beaucoup de choix.....pas de légumes, pas de poissons, pas de fruits secs, pas de lait de soja, un seul fruit frais possible...la pomme, pas de pâtisseries, pas de viennoiseries, pas de crêpes..... vu le prix très élevé de la chambre, ce n'est absolument pas satisfaisant Paiement uniquement en cash...alors que sur le bureau à la réception il y a un appareil pour payer par CB....bizarre... Pas de rideaux ou de volets....

Das Essen kann unmöglich von einem professionellen Koch zubereitet worden sein, denn der würde sich schämen, so etwas einem Gast zuzumuten. Das Schnitzel war bestimmt im Schnellverfahren aus dem Winterschlaf im Tieffrierer geholt worden, denn beim Draufdrücken mit der Gabel fühlte es sich eher wie eine Hüpfburg an. Rs war ungeniessbar! Zugedeckt war es mit 2 Briefchen. Einmal Ketchup einmal Majo oder war es Senf, man legt doch diese Sachen, die bereits durch zig Hände gewandert sind, nicht mitten auf den Teller… die Bratkartoffel schmeckten nach nix.. das Steak war warm aber mehr auch nicht. Uns tat der Kellner sehr leid, er hat versucht aus der Situation das Beste zu machen. Die Lage dieses Hotels, der Garten direkt am Wasser, wäre wirklich toll und verdient wahrlich Besseres…

New Owners - an Asset to go
Reviewed By Falk FThe Hotel and Restaurant got a complete revamp up, turning this romantic, beautiful location into a proper standard accommodation, plus a vividly frequented Italian Style Restaurant in Summer Times. The Hotel reopened this year, 2019. Winter Times, Reichenau in general is grey and scarcely frequented. Yet, then its utter peace and good to settle down and be for yourself. Summers, the island is packed full of travellers and tourists. The hotel is a good place, medium-upper price range. Good price value location.
