Lovely family run Homestay!
Reviewed By jackdaniel2021We stayed here for 11nights and it was just perfect! This is a beautiful homestay run by a lovely, caring family. The facilities are great, the food is great, it is very clean and in a perfect setting. It was such a treat to eat breakfast on the river every morning to admire the breathtaking views. The rooms were so comfortable with great WiFi and air conditioning. The swimming pool is clean and perfect after a long day exploring. I highly recommend this accommodation, would definitely return if I'm ever in Phong Nha again.

Reviewed By lee7889What we could tell about Carambola Bungalow for the very first time we're stay are perfect. I mean it's quite difficult for us if we ask for more. The room is spacious and clean. Very good food with affordable price prepared by the owner: a very helpful and friendly gentleman, Mr Ha. We would very much recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a value-for-money place for your visit or trekking in Phong Nha, Quang Binh.

Song Toan Hotel is just located right on the main street of Phong Nha Ke Bang. We are offering tours and also organizing transfer. The nearest train station and airport is located 40KM away which is in the city of Dong Hoi. In Phong Nha town, they offers a wide variety of cuisine which is from western to asian and even indian food by walking distance only.

Reviewed By SwindleHWe stayed here for two nights and the rooms were nice, big beds and comfy but there were issues with the smell of rooms. My friends had to leave there room because of the smell which the staff initially blamed on the scent of their shoes! Sewage smells were the issue and the food wasn’t great but the staff were friendly and helpful despite not speaking much English. They had lovely views over the river in phong nha.

Awful experience
Reviewed By Dsus94Unfortunately me and my friend had a terrible experience here. I don’t know if things have gone downhill since COVID but we booked weeks in advance for them to reply 1 day before saying they now only had one night available and leaving most other places unavailable. We booked a family because we wanted a double bed each but then upon arrival he said that he only had a double room and we had to pay the same price. He blamed his lack of communication on that he hasn’t had many tourists book through Hostelworld which we explained wasn’t our fault. As we booked through that for 3 nights and then only could stay one it meant that he tried to get us to cancel our booking which would mean we would lose the deposit we had paid which would have been half the cost of the one night. He then got aggressive and blamed us for not saying more when we arrived. Again we said that we’d had flights delayed and a long journey and just wanted to get into our room. He then still expected us to pay the full price of the room but we refused and he then threatened to call the police and locked the gate so we couldn’t leave. We were so disappointed cos we did so much research before booking and saw lots of good reviews but our only experience was inconvenience, lack of communication, aggression and trying to sell anything possible to us. Please don’t stay here.

Also they let is use the shower when we get back from the tour. and last day I left dome money on the car and the guy who is the brother of the family brought it back to the trainstation. we felt was amazing to live eith a vietnamese family

Reviewed By RoryandoI was at this bar for food and drinks, was really good fun as the pool table is quite good. The people were already very nice but to make it even better, when i forgot my shirt in the bar and left for hanoi the next day, i was able to contact them so they could send it to hanoi by bus. Absolute legends. Saved my favourite shirt. Shoutout to Son and Huong for helping me out big time!

Very basic hotel
Reviewed By GlynnS_13I would liked to have given a better rating, but felt I couldn’t for future guests. The owner/hosts don’t speak much English and we communicated using a translation app on my wife’s mobile. The were very accommodating and tried their best. The room was spacious with 2 double beds in it and good A/C, the room was clean, but the bathroom was very basic, showering onto the floor and it draining away. Breakfast was poor coffee with a roll and omelette, with fruit to follow. The best thing about the hotel was we arrived at 4 am and our previous hotel had contacted them and arranged an very early checkin. The owners left the key to our room on the reception counter and we managed to get a few hours sleep before morning arrived. This we were very grateful of and a big “THANK YOU” for that. I don’t think I would return, but for £10 per night for 2 B & B it was very good value.

Our Villa is just more 4km from Phong Nha Centrer, 15km from Darkcave, 20km from Paradise Cave. Location is peaceful place, quiet suitable for who love natural. We offer reception 24/24, aslo all services such as tour, private car, bike rental. Beside, we have restaurant with many vietnamese foods, also western foods and beverage will valuable guest feel satisfied.

Reviewed By Jaime GAlthough the staff tried we have to say we would not book here again. There was a huge language barrier. Only 1 staff member spoke half decent English however he was rarely there. We often found ourselves desperately using google translate. We arrived at 4am by sleeper bus and although we requested pick up when we booked through their free shuttle service no one was there and no taxis were around at this hour. We had to call the hotel and wake some one up who spoke very little English beyond "hello" and "easy tiger". We luckily did eventually get picked up and checked in however our room had clearly been used and not properly cleaned with cigarette butts in the garbage, old towels, and empty water bottles. We did not make a fuss as we were grateful to be inside and were needing a few more hours of sleep. We were awakened maybe an hour later by very noisy guests. It seems there was a group of Vietnamese that took up our floor and all knew each other, shouting from the door way of their rooms across the hall to each other. It was like this the next day as well unfortunately. We eventually did get up to look for the promised pool. However when we asked the receptionist told us it was 1 km away and he could take us. We agreed only to be taken to a creek about 5 km away where some locals were drinking and letting their cows cool off in the water. We had to laugh! We ended up going to easy tiger to swim (60 000vnd good for whole stay) in an actual pool. The room itself was ok: decent size, nice view of mountains, weak air conditioning, really good toilet paper, no daily housekeeping, power cut out in the night and hard beds. We only stayed 2 nights and although the staff did their best to help us we can't say we left happy. We asked for them to confirm our open bus ticket to hue and when we were dropped off the driver refused to let us on! The language barrier was too much and if we were to book again we would likely stay somewhere in town Positives: cheap motorbike rental (100 000vnd), fresh cooked food, free shuttle service and valiant effort of staff.
