Perfect for Lago Agrio
Reviewed By Bostonx26This is a remote city in Ecuador. We wanted a hotel spend the night before returning to Quito from the jungle. This was the perfect place. Clean room, hot showers, cold air-conditioning, nice cable TV, good breakfast, nice friendly staff.... We would for sure stay here....if ever we found ourselves in Lago Agrio RNELSON (Austin, TX)

The hotel with shower window
Reviewed By Lejames1965We stayed there one night May 18th 2022 on our way to Puente Cuyabeno, we arrived around 4 Pm, right away the desk staff came out to open the parking lot gate so the car was parked safely inside,we were given a spacious room on the third floor (no elevator). The room was very clean and facing the street. Comfy bed, and AC in functioning order (not needed for us but we tested it). The bathroom clean as well but weird layout. The door opens to the sink on the right and in front 2 saloon doors too close to the toilet bowl, the shower (suicide) is on the left and inside the shower stall a 110V outlet and a quarter moon ? shaped window facing the bedroom. Other than that I give that hotel a 7.5 outta 10.

Excellent place to stay in Lago Agrio
Reviewed By AnaAP72We stayed in Gran Hotel de Lago - Lago Agrio one night before traveling to Cuyabeno. We were pleased with the staff, rooms and amazing gardens. The pool is super large and the food delicious. They are following all COVID protocols, but one member of the staff told me everyone is already vaccinated which made us feel even more comfortable. Will definitely come back!

El precio es sumamente económico en comparación a otros establecimientos, y sus servicios muy buenos. Recomendado!

the hardest beds in Ecuador
Reviewed By catbconveniently located on the main street but set back so it wasn't at all noisy. we overpaid using booking.com since i know someone who got half the rate by just turning up. However, Lago Agrio is not the sort of town you just turn up to.... we had 2 rooms but didn't feel comfortable leaving our 2 kids in the room across the open passage (no security at night) we all slept in one room but 'slept' is an exaggeration since the beds were boards - literally. Avoid here and go to Hotel Araza where we stayed on our night before our trip to the Cuyabeno reserve. Same price - better security and softer beds!

Environnement très calme, alternative à Lago Agrio
Reviewed By sandyfabL'hôtel se situe dans un environnement très calme et isolé. Les chambres sont très propres dont la literie est confortable. Elles sont équipées d'un ventilateur, cependant elles n'ont pas toutes une salle de bain attenante. Nous avons pu bénéficier d'une cuisine commune et il est aussi possible de commander un repas. Concernant la piscine, elle est très jolie et agréable, mais visiblement pas inclus dans le prix de la chambre (réservé via une plate-forme en ligne), nous avons dû ajouter un supplément.

Reviewed By pabloisaacbEstuve de paso por Nueva Loja junto a mi novia, llegamos a este hotel después de que en otros dos nos hayan dicho que no había habitaciones. Muy buena la atención del chico que estaba en recepción, habitación muy limpia y cómoda, a/c, tv cable, wifi, parqueadero 24hs! Excelente! Volveremos! Un poco molesto la cercanía de las habitaciones con el parqueadero.

Layover for Cuyabeno
Reviewed By capricornus12We booked it on Booking.com where it is declared as a five star hotel - its really not close to it and I think its a mistake. The hotel is ok, rooms are huge, bathroom was clean but it does not have any atmosphere. Its a bit away from the town centre but was good as a layover before our journey to Cuyabeno Nature Reserve.

Hostel Planeta Azul -Quiet place to stay in chaotic Lago Agrio
Reviewed By Dave BWe stayed at Hostel Planeta Azul for 3 nights en route to Cuyabeno. It is on the edge of Lago Agrio, about 3 km from the centre, on the banks of the Rio Aguarico. It is relatively quiet, with birds and monkeys in the trees at the back of the hostel. Lago Agrio is a chaotic, dusty, hot "frontier" town, which is not ideal for travellers and tourists. Unfortunately the hostel is next to a large bridge and a busy road so it is never completely quiet, but it's by far the best budget place to stay. Betty, the owner, is very kind and helpful, although speaks limited English. She helped set us up for a tour to Cuyabeno. There are no nearby restaurants. Betty provides evening meals - you eat whatever the family are eating (served by her lovely kids). Breakfast is included. But it is easy to take a taxi into town. A large clean swimming pool is a welcome respite from the heat, although can be a bit crowded at weekends (Betty allows the public in, for a price). The rooms are small and basic overlooking the pool to the front and riverine vegetation to the rear. We even had small tamarin monkeys visit (don't leave food around). Our bed was comfortable.
