Comfortable family stay

We stayed with two children in June 2022. Reception was unattended when we arrived, and one of the cleaners had to help us. A little disorganised but we were sorted quickly enough. One oddity was being charged a credit card surcharge. Very unusual in a motel. Our room was large and well appointed. The room had a separate bedroom with two single beds, a bathroom, and a large room with a small kitchenette, spa bath, king sized bed, couch and table. The kitchen was functional, with plenty of cooking equipment. There was a microwave, a cooktop and a small fridge. Despite being on the ground floor, and facing the road, we had no issues with road noise. Our room would have benefited from some general maintenance... there was some damaged plaster, a dripping tap, and a broken curtain hook (which made it hard to pull the curtain) . Housekeeping was 'OK' but a bit inconsistent. For example. toiletries weren't replaced on our first morning, but were on the second. The king sized bed is closer to the end of its life than the start, but was still comfortable. The location is pretty good. This is one of the more distant motels from central Napier... but it is a short walk along the waterfront and we didn't find the distance to be an issue. It is really on e few minutes further than other motels. Provided we secured a good price, we'd happily stay again.

Had a couple of nights in a studio on the second floor. A nice view from the balcony and the room was pretty good but would benefit from a refresh. Spa pool was a surprise but needed a clean. The small kitchen area was useful and the bed was a decent size. Enjoy…….

Not quite what we were expecting

Reviewed By Angela F

We booked this hotel due to its location with access to Marine Parade and local shops and restaurants/cafes. It also sells itself as a 4+* so was expecting great things. Unfortunately it did not live up to that expectation. The room was pretty small and the positioning of the bathroom mirror was bizarre making it impossible to look into it without squishing yourself against the door and benchtop. One of the wall lamps was loose with the bulb hanging from the wires and there was what looked like a blood stain on one of our bath towels. Not what we would expect from a hotel with such a high star rating. The one redeeming feature was the french door opening onto the rooftop balcony with views across to the Pacific Ocean. There are other hotels we would choose above this one in future.

Disappointed

Reviewed By AngieBonholibobs

Me and my partner stayed in the one bedroom suite, room 13. We thought that by paying more we receive more, however, we have honestly stayed in places half the price that are twice as good. After 2 days we found a pair of mens underwear in the corner of the room, hidden behind a curtain, so much for the 'covid' clean, bathroom fan made a rattling noise for 3 minutes everytime it was used, carpet looked stained, frayed and grubby, wall paper peeling off walls at skirting boards, toilet flush was dodgy. We complained to staff at checkout who apologised insincerely and explained a renovation was planned. This is not a 4 star establishment and definitely not worth the price we paid, would not recommend.
