Pleasant 2 night stay to visit family
Reviewed By SudriveraineMy husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in late August while visiting family in the area. L'Ambassadeur is a well established hotel in Amqui. While not recent, it's clean and well maintained. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing towards the back of the property, away from busy highway 132. It had a queen bed and a separate sitting area with TV and desk on the other side of a low wall - like a junior suite. The bed was unfortunately a bit hard for my taste but my husband didn't mind it so your mileage may vary. The bathroom had the toilet and shower together behind a door with the sink in a separate area within the room, which can be a time-saver as it allows 1 person to use the sink while someone else showers. There was a safe, a coffee maker and a luggage stand in the room. The hotel has free parking (like most Québec hotels outside major cities) and offers a 240 V electric vehicle charging station that's complimentary for guest use. The town's fast charging electric vehicle charging station is 2 minutes away across the street. There is a restaurant on site that normally offers breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. We had breakfast there on the Sunday morning but it was closed due to lack of staff on the Monday morning - a frequent occurrence in Québec these days. Finally, no housekeeping service was offered during our stay due to Covid 19, something that seems to be standard in Québec these days.

Reviewed By francines155The room was a bit small but clean and comfortable. The staff is helpful and polite. The indoor pool and spa are great, although located in a separate building. ( We asked for a nearby room which they accomodated.) The outside seating area is well equipped with a great view. A good value!

The room was clean and a good size , and it was the perfect location, it was walking distance from many little shops and playgrounds. There was a restaurant on the first floor, it was modern and the food was top notch! No problems at all, we spent the rainy day swimming in the pool witch was also very clean and you had to shower before you got in (I think that is a great rule!). The bottom floor walked out to a beach that has amazing sunsets, and they have provided a small playground over looking the water.

Reviewed By 544rachelleWe had a very small room with one of the chairs practically under the sink. Though small, it had a great view, and a keurig coffee maker and was quite clean. We were in the off season, so the restaurant (expensive with a frozen fish being the catch of the day, served cold for $40) was closed on Sunday except for breakfast. The best deal in town is to go to the Epicerie and order a pizza, take it across to the pub and enjoy it with a local Caribou brewed beer. The pub does not serve food, but they encourage you to buy at the Epicerie and bring it over. The Epicerie had a great prepared foods section, which is great when most of the restaurants in town are not open yet.

Be aware that most rooms have one queen bed and you'll be sharing a bathroom with several other rooms. Common area very nice with the wood fireplace....food was quite good and completely homemade. Beautiful older building that has been maintained with care and has that historic feel to it. Well stocked bar with local craft beer. More suited to a couples retreat than a boys club, but it worked for our plans.

Reviewed By cattlerepairmanThis is a classic, seaside motel reminiscent of the 1970'. Hey, it even has a telephone booth outside the main office! Rooms are small but functional and clean. Keurig machine, microwave and fridge are provided. There are zero restaurants or shops within walking distance; the closest restaurant is the very good Cafe de l'Anse about 11 km West on hwy 132. Breakfast from 8am and great seafood. What is hard to beat is stepping outside to the gorgeous views of the St. Lawrence, coffee in hand. The owners are friendly and helpful.

Reviewed By Rick WWe took a weeks holiday, traveling around the Gaspe region of quebec. This is the 3rd Quality Inn and Suites we have stayed in this week. The room has the feel of a warehouse. There is no proper sitting chair. The TV isn't working correctly. The floor is cold and concrete. This is definetly a hotel to avoid

Reviewed By Karen MThe hotel is dated…and with that comes all its charms. The service is old fashioned and—frankly—world class. These people know how to make a good cocktail. If you want modern, go to Quality Inn and get your coffee from a vending machine. This hotel is not that.
