While we have been proudly named after beautiful Lake Matheson, we are definitely a town based motel; while we are not on the edge of the Lake, we are only a ten minute drive away and the same for the Glacier. Our motto is 'simply nice'. This means we provide simple, clean and comfortable accommodation and focus on giving you good quality basics such as quality Sleepyhead beds with cotton linen and great showers. AND we haven't been sitting around doing nothing during the Covid Lockdown! We have been busy renovating our front studio units with new carpets, beds, wallpaper and paint! We would love to host you in our variety of studio and 2 bedroom units, with mountain views, in a peaceful location. We provide unlimited WIFI,undercover parking for all units, some spa units, King and Queen bed units, continental breakfasts, a portable BBQ and a Guest Laundry for your convenience. Convenient overnight stop
Reviewed By Mary366We stayed one night at the Lake Matheson Motel as part of a road trip down the coast. The unit was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was well appointed. The kitchenette area was a little small as it was a bit cramped to do any cooking but it was sufficient. The beds were comfortable. There is a handy carport right outside the door which was great for the day we left when it poured down. This meant you didn't get too wet packing the car.

Very knowledgable and informative. The room was spotless and well equipped and the motel is in a great location. Walking distance to everything we needed. Highly recommend!! :)

Great place to stay
Reviewed By topb163We stayed two nights and it was perfect for us. It was spotless and comfy. Even though it rained and was fffrrreezing we stayed nice and snug indoors. The bed was super nice to sleep in and the decor was extremely upmarket. We chose the larger room for space and were very much pleased we had. The owner was exceptionally nice man with an English accent and a cat and dog that made us feel very welcome. We loved loved Fox and dined at Lake Matheson Restaurant which was spectacular and well worth the meals we had there. If you want a quiet town in mid winter with plenty of room to move and space to think this is it! I highly recommend.

Very comfortable brief stopover

It was a brief stay: late afternoon arrival and 0630 departure the next morning for a very wet journey home. It was a very good choice. The staff were helpful and obliging and the room very comfortable. The guest lounge was comfortable and well equipped. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the village centre. We will certainly be back.

Comfortable and warm
Reviewed By VickiBrooklynWe arrived to a warm and friendly welcome. We had a choice of rooms and we chose the King studio. It was very comfortable. We cooked in the unit and there were just enough sufficient items to use for our cooking. A great location overlooking farmland. It would have been a nice walk to town, except it was raining. (we went for a short walk anyway along the footpath).

The Westhaven in Fox Glacier is located right in the heart of the Fox Glacier township. We are a modern stylish complex with 23 large studio units. Each room is self contained with private en suite bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. All rooms have a kitchenette which includes a fridge, microwave and kitchen appliances. Our beds are really comfortable, queen, king and super king beds are all available and all rooms have good heating, beds have electric blankets. We offer FREE internet access and have a guest laundry facility.
Nice and Modern
Reviewed By jessiev25First time staying at The Westhaven Motel. We usually stay down at one of the motels on Cook Flat Road but this time chose to stay in 'town'. Sadly not too many people around Fox Glacier township and a number of businesses have closed. Stayed 2 nights. Room was large. Self catered one night and ate out at the White Pub the next. Did both the classic Lake Matheson walk, and the longer and steeper Lake Gault walk on seperate days (starts off the main Lake Matheson walking track). We would stay again at The Westhaven Motel. Price had reduced than earlier advertised, was very reasonable being $100 pn

Reviewed By KarenJDalyLovely quiet, clean room with all kitchen facilities we needed. A great shower room, shower did tend to blast the whole wet room though. Even with a curtain. A separate bedroom with twin beds, and a really comfy bed in the main lounge. The lodge is off the main road, so it's very quiet and no traffic noise at all.

Misty Peaks is a small Bed and Breakfast/Hotel with only 5 guestrooms.We have beautiful views of Mt Cook and Tasman that cant be seen from the village. A complimentary glass of wine and a New Zealand cheese board is offered at 6.30 PM. Continental and cooked breakfast served in the Dining Room. Reviewed By PatrickW3895The hotel was closed however the old hotel over the road is being used as a Heartland. It was great with really good service and awesome room for price paid. Just a word of causation that the entire town is on bottled water, at no fault of businesses
