Lovely place
Reviewed By jobh134I felt home from the very first moment I stepped inside. Thank you so much for the amazing time I had in this hostel in beautiful Tomsk. The room was spacious, the other guests kind and the staff amazing. I'm making plans to go back to Siberia and if possible, will stay there again.

Da Vinci - hostel European level in the center of Tomsk. 4 Comfortable and spacious rooms, a large communal kitchen with a full set of utensils for cooking and table setting. The hostel is located in a luxury house, modern interior, 2 bathrooms, set of appliances, free high-speed Wi-Fi. It hour reception. Our advantage - comfort and friendly atmosphere for all guests Tomsk at affordable prices.
A very nice hostel in a good location
Reviewed By ruby98103This is quite a nice hotel. We paid R2400 for two days for two. We had the double bed room. It had plenty of room and even too much storage space in old fashioned furniture. I took a look into the dorm rooms and they seemed to have plenty of space for the number of beds. There are two toilets, which never proved to be too few. One was actually, really a bath room. It had the only tub designed as a two-person bath tub I’ve ever seen in a hostel; but bring your own bubble bath. The shower was also big enough for two. There is also a clothes washer in the bath room, which you can use for R100. There is drying balcony where you can hang out your laundry on their racks. They turned on a small electric heater to help the drying along. Even heavy weight stuff was dry in 24 hours. The kitchen table would only seat six, so that is the choke point and there does not appear to be a habit here of rinsing dishes with boiling water; so perhaps you should do that before you use them. Staff are helpful but have only a limited supply of English vocabulary. The biggest problem for DaVinci is with their booking agents. Ours (Agoda) provided insufficient information about how to get in to the hostel. It is located in a Soviet-style apartment block, behind a keyed gate and a keyed door. If you have a Russian SIM card in your phone you could call the hostel for directions but China Mobile saw to it that we could not make one work in ours. Agoda needed to include that the hostel is in Unit 42. That is the code you enter at the gate and the door to get the on duty staff to buzz it open. A friendly Russian student saw we were having trouble and rustled up someone with a local phone to get that information from the staff. All the information you need is on a card DaVinci hands out - it is not on their Russian-language only website. I have uploaded a picture of the card for you so you can see detailed directions on how to get to their building and the unit number for the code boxes. Actually the card is a little misleading too. The trolley (#2) from the train station goes right down Sovietskaya, which is the street on the bottom of the picture. Get off just before ul Gertsena. I’m not sure why they show you getting off from a bus on Prospect Lenina. That is the third time I’ve had problems with Agoda giving wrong or inadequate information. I won’t be using them again. There is a problem with the whole idea of a key box door. The staff seem to be AWOL each morning till after 10 or 11 am. If you go out shopping, for a walk, or forget something and need to come back in, I don’t think there will be anyone there to buzz you in. It is possible it rings a cell phone at home and they can do it remotely; I didn’t have the courage to try that. I’ve down rated them one-star because of this possible problem.

Reviewed By 673martaThe place is cool, very nice and well equipped, but when you reach it is very hard to find where it is. There is no sign and the phone nr they gave me was not connected to the phone line. I managed to get in just by asking the neighbour's (who obviously only spoke Russian). But my real problem was to be not lucky at all with the person in the room with me.. When I arrived (at noon) she was in bed.. And so she was all day.. We had little conversation when she woke up to eat and I found that in practice she was now living in the hostel, sleeping all day because at night she couldn't. The problem was at night when at 4 she came over to my bed to "open the window"and touching all of my belongings.. Then she went back to her bed and begun to speak by herself (not loud but really creepy, believe me!). I think that people in the hostel should not allow long staying of mad guests in the rooms. Obviously I could not sleep anymore for all the rest of the night and wishing the sun to rise soon....

A good place to stay
Reviewed By fufaitaI chose the Hostel Hunter House because I really wanted to stay in a historic wooden house. And it wasn't a mistake. The building has been fully restored and everything is new. It's quite central, too. The hostel is clean and quiet. The staff speaks only Russian and are friendly and helpful. They made my registration for free, although according to the dates it was only for the second night. I had requested an early check-in because my train was arriving at 6am. That was not a problem. Upon arrival, I could use a double room for free to relax until my room was ready. I had booked a 3-bed dorm but I was alone. I got the room key but no hostel key, although there is always someone at reception. The room was really big and included a couple of tables and chairs, mirror and hangers. No trashcan, though. It was in the basement but it was quite bright. There were two extra bunk beds, so I guess the room will be for 5 some day. In the basement there is also a very big kitchen with big TV, a toilet, a washbasin and two showers. I'd have installed an extra door to further separate the dining-room from the restrooms because you could hear people showering while you were eating. On the first floor you find a living-room with several sofas and two complete bathrooms. The Wifi signal was overall rather bad. However, I really recommend to stay here.

Spacious hostel in great location
Reviewed By GebaileyWe stayed in a double room in this hostel for two nights. The room was huge and the bed very comfortable. The shared toilet and shower were clean and only shared between three rooms (two double rooms and a four-bed dorm) so we never had to wait. The kitchen was large and very clean and the free use of washing machine was great. As others have mentioned it is hard to find at first but a great location for exploring Tomsk. The receptionist isn't there all the time and our room was on a separate floor anyway - it feels more like staying in someone's rental property than a hostel. I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Valuable hostel
Reviewed By SoominOwenIt was really hard to find this hostel. Fortunately I have a girlfriend who born and lives in Tomsk, So she and her family help me to find this hostel. It would be really hard to find if I was alone. I stayed in 4 beds dorm room around 10 nights and I was the only guest in my room(in this hostel somedays). They have very friendly and helpful staffs(I've met 4-5 staffs and I think there's more or some of them were not staff), Nice kitchen, little bit small toilet but it was enough to take a shower, fast wi-fi. I've never seen the guest who is came from other country, But I think this is not peak season for Siberia. Few markets around here which takes less than 10 mins by walk, 15mins by bus to main town. I had sooooooooo good time at this 8 floor hostel. You should visit here if you have any chance to travel Tomsk.
