The 10 best Hostels hotel in Lombardy, Italy

April 27, 2023 Yuk Petri

Milan is the prime draw in Italy's most prosperous province. The Cathedral, La Scala opera house and Santa Maria delle Grazie, home of da Vinci's "Last Supper," are just some of the sights. Equally fascinating is the belle Epoque splendor of 19th-century Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. When not on one of its frequent strikes, Milan's Metro is an excellent way to explore. Renting a car opens up the region, with its towns full of Romanesque architecture and the peninsula of Sirmione and "Gardesana" coast.

Nohing really bad to say, if you need something, they will usually help. The rooms were clean, I had no issues with anyone in my room. Don't expect the food to be fantastic, but I don't really are for it. I was still able to get full and I prefer paying what I pay for a hostel than some hotel that charges triple for a room.

Babila Hostel

The new Babila Hostel & Bistrot Milano was inaugurated on the 15th of September 2017. The elegant and sophisticated building is located in the heart of the Milan fashion quarter, just a short walk from Piazza San Babila. Babila Hostel is a result of a deep restructuring of the west wing of the Victory Column Institute, founded in 1896 by the then Cardinal of Milan, Andrea Carlo Ferrari, who has decided to open a Catholic school in the city. It fits in the tradition of the most modern European Hostel: smart solution for backpackers and dynamic travellers, measured on the needs of both young travellers and families (solutions with 4 beds) or traditional travellers (with private rooms). Beside the accomodation, the Babila Hostel welcomes everybody to concerts, programs and cultural happenings in the Bistrot area and offers a delicious variety of food wines and cocktails! Good budget option

Reviewed By SwissSin-Travellers

I stayed for 2 nights in a private room (nr. 34) on the top floor. + nice view + breezy, easy to sleep with open windows + spacious, comes with towels and breakfast - WiFi is terrible!!! Best connection is right next to the entrance door or in the bathroom. - Room could have been cleaner. Floor was not properly swiped, very dusty. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was a disgrace. I would stay there again. Good option of you travel on a budget.

Fantastic Place to Stay in Milan

I was in Milan for a few days before a business trip and had the pleasure of staying at Madama. Féro and Alessandro were incredibly helpful with all of my questions and gave me great recommendations of things that I should see around the city. The breakfast every morning was simple but just what I needed and the dinner was always tasty. I met a lot of interesting people at the bistro while I was there as well. The shared room was very comfortable and it had plenty of storage and outlets. I was able to use the luggage storage on my last day so I still got to wander around the city for a few hours even after check out. Great neighborhood. Great people. I can't wait to come back to Italy and stay again.

Ostello del Castello

An old farmhouse in the historical center of Tirano restored to become the first "charming hostel" of Italy. Pleasant location for a relaxing or active holiday in the Alps, in the town where the famous Bernina Express , UNESCO heritage, starts its tour to St. Moritz. Tirano is also strategic to reach many ski areas (Bormio , Livigno, Tonale, Engadine / St. Moritz, Aprica...). In summer you can hike (Via Alpina, Via Valtellina, Sentiero Italia...) or ride the most famous climbs of the "Giro d'Italia" (Gavia, Stelvio, Mortirolo, Bernina and others). Bike park and the trails of the Transalp race are really close. Culture and flavors of Valtellina with the amazing terraced vineyards are other elements of great charm. The hostel has got 8 rooms, all with private bathroom and wifi-free access. We wait for you! Alessia, Andrea and Samuele

I booked to stay here long before my arrival and the totally brilliant host Andrea kept me informed throughout about any info needed re covid etc. Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed and made to feel at ease with a little tour of the property and provided with all info needed for my 8 night stay. My room was very large , had a lovely balcony and bathroom. The bed was extremely comfortable and the whole place spotlessly clean. The breakfast was of good quality in a very relaxed atmosphere. There is a garden patio area with magnificent views. I can't praise Andrea enough as he was always at hand and we enjoyed many conversations. I would not hesitate to return and highly recommend a stay here.

Had a great stay at this hostel! A little way from central station but easy to access with metro and a 5 minute walk. Walking distance to the main attractions in about 20 minutes, right by a tram line aswell. Hostel itself was super clean, we arrived at midnight and check in was quick and smooth. Beds were comfortable with sockets for each bed and lockers in room. The corridors are quite loud at night with people coming and going. Good atmosphere all around, bar staff all very friendly, games provided at the bar aswell! Breakfast provided in the morning was fresh orange juice and toasties. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Lake Como Beach Hostel

The Domaso Lake Como Beach Hostel is located right on the beach and enjoys a stunning view of Lake Como, surrounded by snowcapped mountains. The Hostel and the location is a heaven for sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and kayaking but also for sunbathers and beach lovers and outdoors and nature enthusiasts, thanks to the great Road Cycling opportunities, Hiking and Mountain Biking trails, and the Nature Reserve nearby. The Hostel has free WiFi, an excellent cuisine and pizzeria with inexpensive prices right on the beach, to enjoy a great relaxing atmosphere with great Italian food!

This is heaven on Earth!!

We had no plans to stay in Domaso, but because we wanted to do paragliding in Gera Lario and our pick up could not have been arranaged for farther places, we chose to stay at Domaso. We looked for this property and booked it instantly for its affordable pricing and beautiful views. PROS: - The view- its literally the best of all things. the property has it own private beach area an so overlooks the beautiful Lake Como. It is the perfect combination of Hills, Lake and lush greens. -The area is very quiet and non touristy and that makes it beautiful -The staff at the hostel is super helpful and nice. -They have a restaurant of their own with a bar and the menu is varied and affordable -The breakfast spread is nice -They have lounge chairs that you can use without any cost on the lake front -There are lots of activities around the area like kayaking, cycling, surfing etc. - The hostel dorms are decent but with that view you will hardly stay in the room CONS: The area around gets secluded at night and shops close early so its better to stock up on essentials. You can reach this hostel by taking a train from Milan to Colico and then from Colico take a bus to Domaso ( a bful 20 min ride). We went to Bellagio from Domaso by taking a bus to Mennagio and then ferry to Bellagio.

Flight Stay only

Reviewed By MarkOk9750

Last minute booking in Bergamo. Don’t have too much to say on this place apart from, only stay here if you are getting an early / late flight from Bergamo airport… if even that ! The location of this hostel is extremely far out of everything. It is doable to walk to the main attractions but with bags etc no a hope. Despite the location, the hostel is well equipped. The staff here are extremely nice and welcoming and the main floor / common area that holds few comfy seats and the breakfast area. I was on the second floor, in a 6 bed mixed dorm. A very basic dorm indeed yet it did have an en suite. I did get a single bed to myself but overall it was more a place to lay your head and head off early / late. The lockers are very tight and most are broken ( for locking purposes ) The breakfast is surprisingly very good for Italy lots of selections! There is also a rooftop terrace which is pretty nice on a sunny morning. Kitchen is equipped fairly basically but would do well for cooking up some good grub. However do note a lot of people staying here are just there for the night so expect an early awaking for people leaving to catch flights etc. There isn’t much social if any here. A DJ plays some nights but unless a crowd is here it is very sad.. Would only recommend for those catching a flight / arriving in late. Or if you do not mind a hostel 40mins out of the city then definitely check it.
