We opted for the hour horse trail. Nikki was super friendly and her horses so well behaved. The trail was lovely and meandered through farm land, indigenous forest and several river crossings. The surroundings were stunning and tranquil. I can certainly recommend the experience! A balm for the soul!

Horseback Safari to the majestic mountain valleys. Spa treatments: we offer various treatments including African massages. The reserve offers a special outride for experienced riders it was a lovely 3.5 hour ride. I was able to get very close to the the animals and experience nature as it's best! My guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out all sorts of animals from beetles to the white rhino and explained about animal conservation as well as the flora and fauna. The horses are well trained and look happy and healthy the saddle are endurance the reins are western. The lions are currently kept separate together with with elephants Understandably that's not somewhere were the horses want to go, so on an outride you won't see either, but there is still loads to see and who knows as Botlierskop is about to merge the 2 enclosures together so it might change and you just avoid the area where the lions are. Hope they still can offer outrides or at least horse riding safaris, I think there is no better way to see wildlife up close.

We did a 3 and a half hour rock pool outride today. The entire experience was fantastic, the ride wound through the most beautiful forests, on five of the most well looked after trail horses I have yet to see. The horses each had their own unique personality, and seemed to really enjoy being around people and each other. The guides were very experienced, they treated their horses well, and coped extremely well with our party of five, which comprised varying levels of riding experience, from fairly proficient and experienced, to one rider, who had sat on a horse for the very first time today. The guides (who are also the owners) were able to tailor the ride to accommodate all the riders levels of experience, making it a thoroughly enjoyable day for all.

I cannot praise Hans enough for his friendly welcome and going out of his way to adapt what we did to the needs of two children with very different levels of riding experience. Hans allowed me and our dog to accompany them on a walk around the property and to let my elder daughter go off on her own on the horse at her own pace. He provided a fascinating commentary on the property, its history and his plans for the future. Went for coffee with him afterwards at the nearby hotel where he will meet you. Most of his horses and donkeys are rescues and this just adds to the feeling of well being. He runs a range of different types of walks and rides for all abilities. Please note that it is best to contact him by SMS or WhatsApp as the terrain where he is based and his working hours means he has limited access to email. Can’t recommend this enough and can’t wait to be back for a proper ride out off property.
