The Palace of Justice

The palace is a pice of Art, newly restored it changes the view around the other buildings

Reviewed By florentinadriang - Arad, Romania

The entire area of Trajan Park is worth a visit. The park itself is beautiful and the buildings around it have a special charm. The Palace of Justice is imposing in the landscape through the imposing main facade, the one from Traian Park. The columns with ionic capitel, the rich animal and vegetable ornamentation in stucco from the windows and the statuary group from the level of the cornice are harmoniously combined, so the building will enchant you with its architecture.

Oradea City Hall

The City Hall Palace and Tower THE BUILDING IS THE WORK OF ARCHITECT RIMANÓCZY KÁLMÁN JR., WHO IN 1896 WON THE PROJECT CONTEST FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND DESIGN OF THE CITY HALL. THE SOLEMN INAUGURATION MEETING OF THE LOCAL COUNCIL WAS HELD IN THE NEWLY-BUILT PALACE ON THE 10th OF JANUARY 1904. THE CITY HALL TOWER With a height of about 50 m and 4 main levels, three of which have observation decks, the City Hall Palace Tower is also hosts the clock announcing the exact time in Oradea. The mechanism of the clock, called the "mother clock", strikes every hour and plays Iancu's March. The local watchmaker Mezey Dezső built the mechanism in the early twentieth century, in 1904. The clock survived two world wars, while the roof and wall of the tower survived the two great fires of 1917 and 1944. The watch dial retains even today bullet holes from gunfires shot during the Second World War. The second level was also the observation point of the city firefighter on duty. Fires were announced by ringing a bell, depending on the area where the fire started. In the daytime, a red flag was unfurled in the direction of the fire, while at night an electric projector was used.

The Clock Tower of Oradea's historic City Hall allows visitors - for a modest fee - an incredible view of Old Town and surrounding hills. There are no elevators and geting to the last level may require some effort, however, if you can, this would be a most rewarding stairs-climbing trip one can take. The clock tower used to serve as a watch point for the city’s firefighters. However ironic, history says that in 1944, the tower along with its top floor and roof took fire. The City Hall Palace and its Clock Tower have been renovated and rebuilt, currently hosting quite a number of visitors every year. On the ground floor, the tower has a pretty gifts shop , were the entrance tickets are sold as well.

Palace of Parliament

The world's second largest building was built as a palace for Nicolae Ceauşescu, who was overthrown and executed before it was completed.

Reviewed By KatrinaMolini - Corciano, Italy

We took a tour of the palace in February. You have to call to make a reservation. We did so one day before, when we arrived to Bucharest. Make sure you give them your name accurately. When we approached the desk the next day they couldn’t find our names but the desk person included us in the tour anyways. They give you a ticket and you go pay it at the gift shop next to the desk. The tour was completely booked and even though they have it every hour or so, the one before and after were full for sure. So do book it in advance. When the tour starts you need to pass the security. They were not very nice, and at the end the whole thing took about 15 minutes for the whole group. The tour itself was quite informative and we were truly impressed with all the architectural and decorative details. The halls and rooms are simply stunning. You can take photos and you will have the feeling that you walked a lot and seen a lot but in fact the tour includes only 5% of the building. Here are some more well known fun facts about it: The Palace of the Parliament is the heaviest building in the world; it’s also the most expensive one in the world (costed 3 billion euros) and it’s the second largest administrative building in the world (after Pentagon). I personally really love these kind of tours and I enjoyed it very much so I recommend it to everyone who is visiting Bucharest as the main attraction of the city.
