The 10 Best Food Tours in Cape Town Central, Western Cape

August 14, 2021 Joeann Galban

Cape Town glistens at the southern toe of the African continent. Tourist brochure-views at Blaauwberg Beach and Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens are within easy driving distance of "The Mother City." The Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve provides sweeping sea vistas, hiking trails and wildlife encounters. On a more somber note, travelers can visit Robben Island, the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.

We did 2 excursions with Mike and both were superb. First, we did a sunset e-bike ride along the coast through Chapman Pass. During this ride we stopped at a local vineyard for a fantastic tasting. Then we stopped at a local craft brewery for some of their samples. It was great having someone local guiding to so many amazing locations. Because we had such a great time our first time with Mike we decided to go with him on a Cape Peninsula tour. First stop was Boulders Beach to see the penguin colony. He knew all of the places to hit. After that we entered the Cape of Good Hope Reserve for the e-bike part of the day. This was a lot of fun and a great way to hit more stops and see more sights than a bus tour. A late lunch at a fantastic restaurant with ocean views ended our day. We all had an amazing day. You can’t go wrong with Mike and Venture South. He and his staff are incredibly personable and gave us some of our best experiences and memories of our visit to Cape Town. Thanks Mike!

Me and my partner did the India Venster hike with Lynette guiding us and we had the most fantastic day! Lynette was very friendly as well as very knowledgeable of the area and guided us up the mountain as well as through the history of the area and it’s surroundings. We were able to go at our own pace and the hike was very enjoyable and rewarding with a huge sense of achievement when we had finished! You will not look at table mountain the same after doing the walk knowing you have conquered it and I would recommend this hike to absolutely everybody as my partner and I had the best day and loved every second of it! Experiencing the mountain and the nature from the route was surreal and it was a once in a lifetime hike where you will make some incredible memories and see some amazing views. Fabulous driver Yo-yo with so much knowledge of his country. He looked after us so well. The boat trip to seal island colony was astounding, so many seals, sunbathing or frolicking in the sea. The drives round Capetown involved stunning scenery with many photo stops. Lunch at Simon’s town restaurant by the harbor was delicious and the penguins we’re the highlight of the trip. We went to Cape of Good Hope and the point. Would thoroughly recommend this trip. Ask for Yo-yo.

I cannot express enough how much my partner and I enjoyed this tour. We had a bit of a communication problem in the beginning and were afraid of being scammed, however, Samuel came to the rescue and ensured we were treated like royalty. Samuel has started She Voyage and a few kinks are still being worked out, as with any new startup, but his hospitality and the quality of his service are utterly outstanding. We cannot wait to go back next year and experience Franschhoek with Samuel as our guide
