I had the opportunity to tour Jones Distilling and was more than impressed with the premises, the distillery, and the smoothest vodka I've ever tasted. The head distiller (Megan) is clearly well-versed in her craft and the pride in her award-winning product shows. I look forward to the restaurant opening across the hall from the distillery. I'm encouraging family and friends to make Jones Distilling a priority when in Revelstoke.

Fernie Distillers

Reviewed By hfk16 - Calgary, Canada

We came in to try the cocktails on a rainy Saturday evening between Christmas and New Years and stumbled into a wonderful local experience. As soon as we sat down (at the bar, always sit at the bar), we were offered a complimentary tasting of the three bottles they have developed so far - a wheat-based vodka sourced from nearby Creston, BC, an "Earl Grey tea-infused" liqueur called Fernie Fog, and an America-style gin that just launched in early December. My sister, who is not a gin drinker, happily reported that the gin did not "taste like eating a Christmas tree". However, the real highlight of the tasting room is the cocktails menu. I had to take a solid 15 minutes just to read through the whole selection, and another 5 to narrow down a choice. I ended up with a Definitely, Maybe, which I would recommend to those who enjoy an Old Fashioned. They do a number of different vodka infusions, create in-house bitters (which will hopefully be on sale soon) and all the drinks are garnished with dried fruit. If you are feeling adventurous, try ordering Two Fires and a Flood. It is a treat for the whole room. As it is a tasting room, you can bring in (or order in) your own food. They have a few snacks available (dried fruit and nuts, not bar food), but given that each drink is 2-3 oz, you will probably want to have eaten first. I believe the space is open to children as well, and they have a good selection of mocktails. The distilling room is visible through a window, but no in-depth tours as of yet. We will definitely be stopping in next time we are in Fernie, and I am looking forward to seeing how they grow over the coming year.

On a four day road trip of breweries in the East Kootenays this place wasn't even on our list. It was just by chance we saw the sign on the side of the road when passing through Salmo and we said - let's try it. We were pleasantly surprised by the beer. We chatted with Colin (aka brewmaster) about his new business (opened April 2020), beer making and the growler fill. We tried two different beers - Kolsch and an IPA which were both very good. This place is clean and it shows in the beer. We had growlers with us which we were saving to fill at Nelson breweries , but filled here instead. Three weeks later we opened the growlers and enjoyed the beer . It was as good as we remembered it being in the brewery. We wish we could have brought more home. No cans were available at this time, but we look forward to hearing when they are. Keep up the great work Colin.

Good BC wine, incredible tapas lunch and service staff that were exceptional. On a beautiful fall day a spur of the moment visit from Cranbrook took us to the visitor's center in downtown Creston where because it had a bistro, we were directed to the winery. We were greeted by April and given a table with a Tuscan like view overlooking the valley. April assisted with the tapas menu, we sampled some of Skimmerhorn's red wines and thoroughly enjoyed a memorable experience.
