The Pop Up Farm

Reviewed By therichastill - Stevenage, United Kingdom

I visited in October 2020 when it was possible to go places but remain socially distanced. We went to get pumpkins and had a booking to turn up. I was very impressed at how well the whole operation was managed in terms of keeping apart from other visitors and paking. As well as picking out pumpkins we were able to get a hot drink and a snack and payment by card was easily done. Obviously this is a field so it is VERY MUDDY but we knew this was going to be the case so went prepared. Its a great way to get your pumpkins with lots of information about the right type of pumpkin and what you are planning to do with it (eg carving or in food).

Went today with our 4 1/2 year old to the maize maze, strawberry picking, and food / play areas. All worked a treat and were well organised, reflecting all measures you'd expect currently but still retaining their family run feel. Having been before though that is what we'd expected. The only one unhappy was son, when we had to go... Don't worry though little fellow, we'll be back soon!

My wife joined Willows Farm on a family membership, our 3 year old loves it and we have visited most weeks for the last few years. Providing the weather is good it is a fabulous day out. If you go regularly, I would suggest that you take your own food, as it can be a bit expensive if you take a number of children. Highlights are 'Tuck' the New Zealand shepherd with his wonderful sheep dogs, who round up ducks, yes it's true, the Peter rabbit show, Tristran the tractor and Mr McGregor's garden. The cheapest way to go, by far, is on an annual ticket.

Such a lovely farm perfect for younger children. The brand new play equipment looks great and the farm shop has a range of drinks, snacks & toys. Nice range of animals including donkeys, goats, sheep, tortoises and more! A volunteer run farm with animals that have come from rescue backgrounds such as the owls which are so beautiful. All of the animals are in paddocks that also have inside living for when they want to take themselves away or seek shelter. Will definitely be coming back!

Standalone Farm

We held our sons birthday party at Standalone Farm last weekend for 20 four year olds and we were really impressed with how well organised the whole experience was. From first booking the day until the end of the party nothing was too much trouble for anyone we dealt with. It was great value for money and the kids loved the animals ,food and party bags. One of the team (sorry I’ve forgotten her name) walked round with us and talked to the kids about the animals. Highly recommended!

What a lovely little place! Took my children today, in the rain, and had a blast! Kids loved the Halloween decorations and treasure hunt , feeding the animals and playing on the super muddy tyres/tubes etc! Kids were filthy with the most wonderful smiles :) ended with picking their pumpkins and then a lovely lunch x little gem of a place x not a full day out, but certainly worth going for a couple of hours x will be back in the warmer weather to enjoy a picnic
