Very helpful staff

Reviewed By John H

We asked for a room with a bath (rather than a shower) and we were given one. We also asked for a garden view, but we were not in the main building and had a small patch of grass and high hedge outside. Did go for a walk in the garden after breakfast and it took all of two of three minutes (so not large). Breakfast and staff were good and attentive.

4 day Jubilee Weekend Stay

Reviewed By sarah- F

Wonderful stay, lovely hotel, great accommodation and facilities. Fabulous place to relax, lovely vegetarian food especially breakfast. A few experiences showed a lack of respect/thought/effort/empathy for guests' comfort. Some of the younger staff should take greater initiative eg in the Spa we arrived early as requested to complete our health questionnaire before a massage but were studiously ignored for 20 minutes. The pool area senior staff whose name I'll withhold was very quick to insist rather charmlessly that we had breached a rule by failing to wear the Spa towelling robe while checking out the outside sunbathing area- fair enough rules are rules, thanks for telling us. But when many other opportunities to interact with us in her role as host in a non-challenging fashion presented themselves over our 4-day stay, she never availed herself of a polite greeting, smile or nod to restore the sense of a diplomatic welcome, despite us having been a bit heedlessly naughty. Similar observation regarding the gym. A member of staff was very quick to tell off my husband for resting his towel on some equipment near his treadmill - at the time the gym was deserted but fair enough someone else might want to use it. But when I had put my towel and water on purpose on the rowing machine as I was just about to use it, another guest chucked them off to have a go herself, ostentatiously spraying the machine with disinfectant though oblivious to the germs my property would be acquiring from her peremptory invasion, yet no staff came to my aid. One of the waiters whose name I'll also withhold understandably couldn't give us a coffee pot due to a temporary shortage during a busy period but later failed to supply it proactively even though I had asked him to once they became available. Special thanks to the following superlative staff for ensuring our August return is already keenly anticipated. Tara- diligent, hardworking, polite, waitress Albino- very welcoming Maitre d', great personality, gift for remembering details about our preferences and names, very hard-working managing the high stress environment with grace and efficiency. Karen - lovely waitress, helpful, knowledgeable, friendly and efficient. Amy - fabulous masseuse with intuitive healing hands

Poor wifi, unpleasant personnel, claims to provide services which they cannot deliever, poor food.

Reviewed By Sindre B

My first impression was quite poor, the reception is understaffed with long waiting lines on phone and in person. The personnel working there were quite unpleasant both being unhelpful and straight up rude. Then theres the issue of their webpage stating they provide services such as adapters, laundry, parking and even doctor appointments, but when requested, none of the aforementioned services can be provided. They also claim to have great wifi which is a huge overstatement. The food was also pretty underwhelming, both in selection and quality.

Stayed in garden room for 2 nights from 20/05/22 at cost of £550. Grossly overpriced for what is on offer. At half the price and as a 3 star establishment it would have been reasonable Room nice but mattress clearly needs replacing and totally uncomfortable. The place clearly concentrates on its functions and not its hotel. Totally understaffed with clearly incompetent management with much totally untrained junior staff who have absolutely no idea what they are doing. Breakfast on first day reasonable but on the second day when there were functions taking place, a total shambles. Quality of food in the restaurant at best mediocre. And no point in trying to get service from Reception as the 1 person generally there does not even time to answer they phone WOUL DEFINITELY NOT GO AGAIN AND CERTAINLY NOT RECOMMEND

Several issues

Reviewed By Helen M

Parking is a problem, get instruction. Poor reception greeting and incorrect room information given. Problem with the shower delivering only scolding hot water, which we reported, the hotel staff knew of the issue! Breakfast, quality ingredients, however the cooked breakfast poorly delivered, obviously held warm, the chef deliveries eggs only one way - poached! regardless of the menu description.

Nice Hotel Let Down By Collesgues

Reviewed By ItsMins

I travel frequently for work and always stay in Holiday Inns where possible as I always find them great value. This one in Watford I was not a fan. My room was clean, I had an OK nights sleep. Bathroom was clean and well stocked. Breakfast was decent too. Staff however were appallingly terrible. On checking in, I approached the counter. The colleague did not say hi to me so I said "hello I'm here to check in". He replied with "surname?". I gave him it and he said "1st name?". I gave him it and he put a piece of paper on the desk and said, "put email here, phone no. here and sign here". He then took the paper, gave me my key and simply said "room on 4th floor". So I walked off to find my room. Every other time I've stayed at a Holiday Inn, I'm welcomed at the desk, asked if I'm a member, given an explanation of bar times and food times, informed about breakfast times and where it is, directed to the lift etc etc. The colleagues at breakfast didn't fare much better. Absolutely the most unwelcoming colleagues I have ever come across. Definitely would not stay again.

Maria - an absolute star ⭐️!

Reviewed By AdyM875

We always stay North London for ease of access to both big London and for escaping easily after our stay but this was a first for us at this particular hotel. Can’t fault our two night stay at all but I would offer the biggest pat on the back to a certain Maria , who was present in the dining room both mornings. An effortless, engaging and seemingly genuine smile was offered to all guests despite the rudeness I witnessed being directed to her. This lady, compared to 98% of those who choose to work in the hospitality industry, is a godsend and Premier Inn should realise the talent they have on their hands and either reward her financially or promote her. Top tip for future guests: free parking available adjacent to the hotel, just off the main road in front of the industrial units.

Worst hotel I’ve been in

Reviewed By daveb230567

Don’t know where to begin the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in by far. The rooms were filthy dirty (see the photos) beds were uncomfortable. We stayed here as a overnight due to an early morning flight. I’ve come away absolutely fuming how they can charge for a room so dirty. To me it looks like a contractors hotel which there were several. I shall be getting in touch with Ramada soon as I’m home. Really shocked I large worldwide hotel chain has a hotel to this standard. Nothing good at all here and the noise at night as it’s in a motorway service
