The 10 Best Day Trips from in Belgrade, Serbia

January 1, 2022 Florencio Paulino

Belgrade's long and storied history is suggested by its architecture, which varies from Byzantine and Ottoman to neoclassic and romantic buildings in the older neighborhoods, and from Art Nouveau to brutalism and neo-Byzantine design in New Belgrade. The city's many theaters, museums, monuments and opera houses boast a deep and fissured cultural life while the beaches and rivers attract sunbathers, sports enthusiasts and partygoers on the popular floating river barges that serve as nightclubs.

We had a great time on our wine tour with beautiful wineries and beautiful wine. The tour is exactly as described and because we were traveling during this pandemic, we pretty much had most of these wineries to ourselves. The first stop was Despotika and a perfect start our day. The winery overlooks beautiful vineyards and scenery and we got 4 different types of wines. From here we went to a family house and had a wonderful lunch and also 4 glasses of wine to go with our meal. This is a true Serbian experience as you are in someone's actual house. From there we then went to a museum-like winery that gave us a sampling of wine. This use to be the King's old cellar and still has archives of old wine. A good stop and interesting to learn about. Our last stop was Aleksandrovic Winery which feels like a high-end winery that also overlooks beautiful vineyards. Here we sat until about sunset with delicious wine! We had a great time, and our guide Andrija was great. Also got some photos of our trip which was a nice surprise!! Overall highly recommend.

We've signed up for a tour along Danube that included Golubac Fortress and Lepenski Vir. We've spent most of the time driving and guide Mihajlo was pointing out interesting landmarks and local curiosities and sharing stories about them on the way. We were lucky to get an extra: a tour of local winery - I guess because we were a small group with quicker turnaround. We topped it off with a dinner in a local eatery. All in all, despite the long drive, it was very worth it. The trip was very pleasant and the fortress was a sight to behold. One tip: go in the summer. During the winter the best parts of the fortress are closed off to visitors.

Our tour starts from your accommodation, and we head toward Western Serbia. Two and a half hours ride, we will reach “The House on the Drina,” an isolated house made of logs on a river stone. We will leave the house behind us, and continue our trip just in time to make it for the departure of the famous Sargan Eight scenic train. (The train operate only from April to November) Unique narrow-gauge railway nowadays serves only for the amusement . During our ride, we will pass and stop on several viewpoints from which one can see fabulous views over Mokra Gora. After almost two and a half hour ride we are returning to the departing station from where we continue our journey to the nearby Mećavnik, or Drvengrad (Wooden City). The famous director Emir Kusturica (two times Palme D'Or in Cannes winner) decided to build it during the shooting of his film “Life is a miracle.” After the meal, we will head back for Belgrade where we will arrive late in the afternoon.

Uvac is simply breathtaking place ,it is considered the most beautiful nature attraction that can be seen in Serbia. It is not frequently visited by tourists, which makes it very peaceful place to find inner pease. During summer season it is available to take a boat tour, along reserve so you can see Ledena-Ice cave, which is the part of the longest cave system in Serbia.
