Best place to stay in Shangri-la
Reviewed By Happiness03703445825It’s difficult to express just how helpful, cheery, and generally wonderful Mary is. The atmosphere of Kevin’s is very inviting and homey, with nice accommodations and an excellent view of Shangri-la from the 3rd floor terrace. I was certainly thankful for Mary’s advice as our time in Shangri-la was somewhat open ended. She happily directed us to amazing spots in the area and has a wealth of knowledge regarding the best ways to get there. Meili Snow Mountain, for instance, shouldn’t be missed. Even on our way to the next location, Mary assisted in setting up transportation and booking for a hostel in Tiger Leaping Gorge. If you’re going to Sharngri-la, absolutely stay at Kevin’s. Laundry service, motorbike rental, excellent breakfast, helpful advice, and very clean rooms. Oh and “Jun Mao” may announce your arrival, but don’t worry, he’s a very good boy.

A place like home
Reviewed By sunyinan01I brought my parents and son at Lijiang trip, by traveling with aged people and a kid, I am so glad that I picked here to stay. The host reminded us to bring the right clothes before we got there, and picked us up from the train station. It's such a nice hotel, the room was cozy and clean, and the yard bloomed with flowers. Even my son, who grew up in the US, loved this place right away. We ate with the host just like their family members. Not only that, any questions we had, any help we needed, the host did his best to help, you name it: car rental, local specialty shopping, best price for view point, best place to eat... he even went with us if he had time, to make sure we saw all the beautiful views but wouldn't be charged too much...wherever we went, we checked with him first, his advice was always very useful. We stayed at different hotels on this China trip, only this one made us feel like home, thanks to the host! We became friends when we left, and I really miss them. We already recommended it to all of our family members and friends.

Best guest house on the hiking trail
Reviewed By ColonelBantryWe stayed there for two nights at the start of our hike. The family were very welcoming and spoke good English. The food was delicious, and we enjoyed the home made white spirit drink. The room was comfortable with the electric blankets. There were great views of the snow capped mountains. It's definitely worth an overnight stop rather than just having lunch especially as the 28 bends section to the next guest houses was our favourite and not worth rushing.

She is so friendly, speaks English pretty well, and even when words fail she is happy to use gestures and smiles to communicate! She basically does everything herself here, cleans rooms, cooks, organised transport, shows people hiking routes , checks you in, all of it! Super woman! Her steamed buns are the best steamed buns I ever had. So good we got them three times, even convincing her to make them for lunch (they are usually only served at breakfast!) She organised us a free ride with her husband to and from the bus stop (which is Tina’s guesthouse- don’t be tempted to get food here after a hike- wait till you get back to Tibet Guest House because it’s a million times better) There are many hikes around the area making this a conveniently located guesthouse too. Even if you need to go up the road, she will arrange a lift for you! About 300m down the road there is also a tiny shop. The rooms are clean and there is hot water in the showers. I would definitely recommend that you stay here! (We managed a hike the day we arrived up the 28bends, a hike down to middle gorge the next day, and a hike up to the waterfall and bamboo forest the day we were leaving) The bus back to Lijiang goes from Tina’s at 3/3.30.

The yard is wide and rare for the Old Town. It's the best choice for meditation and rest. You can find the private club,tea room ,cheese room,observatory and others comfortable zones. Fantastic hotel with friendly staff on a hill overlooking the old town
Reviewed By JochenHertweckLijiang Lize Graceland Merry Inn consists of several traditional buildings scattered around a beautiful courtyard on top of a hill providing guests with a fantastic view over the old town of Lijiang and the surrounding mountains. However, the location is also the only negative aspect of this hotel in some regards. Due to the fact that there is no road nearby getting there always requires going up or down 150 stairs, which is a decent workout even without luggage. With luggage it is really quite strenuous. On the other hand this also means that the place is quiet – truly a pleasant change compared to the tourist frenzy going on in the old town below. The hotel and the rooms are spotlessly clean and well equipped, the staff is very friendly, helpful and immediately makes you feel welcome. The Wifi connection was also fast and realiable and the Chinese breakfast quite tasty. So, if you are looking for a charming, quiet and friendly place to stay in Lijiang and don’t mind a few stairs I can highly recommend the Lize Graceland Merry Inn.

The room was such a perfect oasis within the hustle and bustle of the town. Fabulous hospitality, location, surroundings and food. There really are no words to express how great everything is at Lize Graceland Artistic Suite Inn. We've never felt so spoiled by such wonderful, warm, friendly people, they attend to your every need. A huge thank you to Ms. Li and her team, for making our holidayn just perfect!

The room are typical and nicely decorated. The staff make you feel confortable and that's exactly what you need when you were arriving at Shangri La after long days of travel!

Reviewed By Lawrence_LaoStaying at Rock Boutique Hotel is the highlight of our Yunan trip. The hotel has great views of mountains and nearby village. Our room is hygienic and bright. Sometimes I could see horses transpassing. Food is fresh and delicious, prepared by friendly staff from the nearby villages. Our room comes with outdoor hot pool. When sky is clear, it is perfect to watch stars from the pool. Being incrediably close to the indigenous people from the Rock town, the Hotel offers guided hiking tour towards Yulong Snow Mountain. You will need a good pair of boots to hike, or like a few of us who just bought a pair locally from a boots brand called "Yu Long Shan" with amazing quality at an affordable price. The tour was quite tiring but we got to see nice views. After intense exercise, you can order in-room spa service. Just remember to book your spa session early.

Reviewed By מוטי לpros: -location is great, very close to the heart of the ancient city and also close to an entrance to the city. -impressive traditional design -helpful staff cons: -only chinese breakfast -due to oncoming closure on the city because of coronavirus, we had to escape after 2 nights (we booked 4 nights). the owner refused to refund us 2 nights. he said that we should do it by the web site we used to book. but he already got the money.
