Our family-run hotel in Techendorf is set in a quiet location and Europe's largest natural ice sheet is only a few metres away. Groomed cross-country ski and skating tracks, ice-skating rink and many winter rambling trails are right at the front door. Winter rates include half board. The Weissensee region offers you a varied program of activities for the most beautiful season of the year. Activities like snowshoe rambling, ice-skating, cross-country skiing, skiing, curling, tobogganing and much more guarantee a unique adventure for the entire family all day long. The pistes of the family friendly skiing area Weissensee can be reached by using the ski shuttle bus, which also takes you easily to the skiing arena Nassfeld-Lake Pressegg. The cross-country ski track and the ice rink are directly in front of the hotel. The view of unspoiled nature, the surrounding snowy mountains and the frozen Lake Weissensee will enchant you. .. we look forward to your visit!
Friendly, well-situated on lakeside
Reviewed By Over100countriesThis is our second visit to the Lipeter. We came in July 2020 and found the traditional, clean room with a lakeside view and a balcony simply perfect. This year our room is slightly smaller with a bigger balcony - also excellent. The breakfast, on a terrace overlooking the lake, is classic tasty Austrian fare. The staff are friendly and professional. Best of all, the hotel has its own lakeside bathing area with decks to sit on and swim off. They also have rowing boats you can borrow (for free). There’s nothing not to like. A perfect, peaceful spot for a week’s holiday.

The definition of serenity
Reviewed By JohnKate LMy wife and I spent the last two weeks of May staying in the Margarite apartment of Kamenhof, complete with wonderful lake views from our balcony. Overall the weather was really good and we alternated a lake day, mostly using the great ferry service to either take us somewhere to walk back or to return us after a walk, and an away day [always within one hour] into the Dolomites or other lakes. Car hire wasn't that easy to find and we picked one up in Villach on the way out. The meadows are in full display and the colours stunning. The lake colours are the most beautiful greeny blues and the lake itself is dotted with fishermen in their small boats. As one poster said ...'listen to the silence'. If insects concern you ... no problem here at all. So what of Kamenhof itself. Petra and Stefan are great hosts, helpful, unassuming and expert. Stefan actually works in the tourist office. We chose not to have the breakfasts and be completely self catering but it was clear that other guests were having a great one, usually on the lawn overlooking the lake. The apartment was comfortable, spotless and fully provisioned. Everything is provided and bedding/towels regularly changes. We wondered whether we should have booked one week but two is right. When [not if] we return, if we have to book one week we'll forgo the car as there is so much walking using the ferry and [free] chairlift. There is a small private beach and access to bicycles and rowing boats. The pictures of it in winter with the lake frozen is something else! An absolutely wonderful place to stay, both Kamenhof and Weissensee. We love the meadows and relative quiet so May was perfect. A real discovery.

Reviewed By AtlantichopperPension Stampfer was a good choice for us on a number of fronts: 1. The facilities were very nice, clean, and modern. They have a wonderful outdoor sitting area that is sheltered for all sorts of weather yet has a view over the lake. The TV, which I don't think we had on for 5 minutes, is a large flat screen with a good picture. There was adequate closet space for luggage and clothing. The beds were quite comfortable. The bathhouse was large and private. There was a place to grill. There was a dock with steps down into the crystal clear, but cool, water. There was a ping pong table and plenty of lawn chairs. 2. The location was also good. There was very little street noise, and things seemed to shut down pretty early anyway. There was a little bit of a walk down to the lake, which was easier than the walk back up to the house, about 5 minutes, but the walk looked like it would be similar for most any chosen location, with the exception of some of the larger motels further west down the lake. There were good restaurant locations that we could walk to. 3. Mr. Stampfer was very helpful, carrying one of our bags for us on the way in, and orienting us to the area. He had tips for us daily, and always seemed to know the weather that would be coming in. 4. The price was reasonable for the service and facilities. 5. The breakfast was very good. We were always offered eggs cooked multiple ways including with bacon. They also had the normal items for the area such as Broetchen, cheese, meats, jams. Also, they made tea and coffee and had orange juice. We will confidently recommend this place to friends, and would not hesitate to stay there again, if we are in the area!

A loevly stay with a lot of amenities for good value
Reviewed By Elisabeth HThis is definetly one of the most relaxing palces i have ever stayed for this money. We had a double room and stayed in February for 5 nights. We enjoyed the outdoor sport activities and the sunny days (I think Weissensee has more sun hours than other regions in Austria) and in the evening we almost always had the sauna and spa rooms for us alone. The owners are incredibly friendly people, who truly made us feel welcome and helped with a lot of information. Our room had wooden cabinetts and smelled so good. The balcony with its view was very convenient too. The breakfast is hearty and as an evening snack we totally recommend the Brettljause with Schnaps! This sounds to enthousiastic? It really was great there.

Spacious rooms , excellent food , with dear and nice family Lilg we felt more than welcomed and where we will certainly come back !

Welcome to the house Lackner! Our house is centrally located, close to the forest in a sunny, quiet location away from traffic. On the top floor of our house we offer you a newly built apartment with a fantastic lake view over the Weissensee. The apartment for 2-6 persons has a spacious balcony, 1 kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 1 sofa bed, bathroom with shower, separate toilet, flat screen TV with satellite, wireless internet, underfloor heating and separate entrance. Reviewed By LucijaSlovenijaWe have just came back from Weissensee, where we have spent 3 nights at Pension & Ferienhaus Winkler-Tuschnig. The pension and family appartments are run by familiy Winkler, all 3 familiy members do everything possible to make guests happy. Our welcome was very warm, we got twin bed room at the 3rd floor (there is no elevator) with fascinate view on the lake Weissensee and beautiful mountain landscape. The house offers in summer only breakfast, which is very rich/abundant, private beach which is very close to the pension (aprox.50 meters), some bikes (free) and rowing boats (2,00 EUR/hour). If you have kids, this is the right place for you, because they will be very busy on the pension's playground near the house and on the beach. The only deficit is language, everything is written in german (signs, brochures & maps, menus in the pub, general information for tourists), so make sure and learn some german expressions!! Between the houses and beach there is walking promenade, also good for jogging, nordic walk and cycling and encircle the west lake bank. Village's name, where pension and appartmens are is Gatschach, other small villages on the lake shore are Techendorg, Oberdorf, Naggl and Neusach. You don't need car, beacause villages are small and close to each other, there are lots of cafes, good restaurants, pizzeria's,shops, tourist information center,... We recommend to each traveler to have a ship cruise along the lake and take the chair lift to Nagel Alm where you will be astonished by wonderful panorama view over the entire lake vally. Have a nice time on the Weissensee (in english white lake) in pension Winkler....Sandra & Norman
