The property is nestled in the countryside just outside Yogyakarta, surrounded by padi fields. The rooms are comfortable, with A/C, a TV, private bathroom and an enclosed courtyard shared by only only 4 bedrooms, which has shaded seating space to eat, chat, rest and work. Uhki and his family provide breakfast for guests and other meals on request. I have enjoyed fresh local fruits each day as well as a hot, typical meal for my breakfast. The homestay caters to requests too, so you can get what you would like each day. There are local shops and food sellers open from dawn until late evening in walking distance and there is also a wonderful traditional market selling fresh fruits, vegetables and fresh ready prepared meals about a 2 miles // 30 minute walk away, down the quiet country roads alongside the padi fields. I have enjoyed doing this most days to experience daily life and try as many local foods as I can. The welcome I have received from locals I encounter on the way to market and whilst there has been friendly and supportive. Many want to stop and chat, asking me where I am from and if I am enjoying my stay. Travelling as a single female I have felt safe throughout my time at this location. The family even provided a cookery lesson for me at my request, including a trip to the market together so we could buy the items we needed for the dishes I was keen to learn to prepare. This was a fantastic experience and one I thoroughly enjoyed. Iskandar, the eldest son of the family, took time to answer my questions at the market about items I was not familiar with. As the mum of the family does not speak English, Iskandar also gave up his time to be our translator. Once the food was ready we all sat around the table and ate the meal together, which we great fun. A truly unique experience, which has given me a memory that I will treasure. I was able to rent a comfortable and reliable scooter from the family, as well as a bicycle to use in the local area. The scooter was a very helpful form of transport to visit tourist attractions in the area. Both Ukhi and Iskandar gave up their time to chat with me about where I should visit and how I should spend my time while here. However, while they were available whenever I needed them and nothing was too much trouble they also gave me lots of space to relax around the property. Practical info - good strong wifi except is extreme weather when it can drop out. Internet credit can be purchased locally though to provide hotspots if required, which is what I did. Tea and coffee are available throughout the day. The water pressure varies but is fine. The rooms are spacious and clean. Towels and toilet paper are provided. The water is not heated, but due to the outside temperature it is not cold - I have actually found it very refreshing. A laundry service is available on request. The bed is the most comfortable I have stayed in throughout my time travelling through Asia. BUT be warned the property is very close to a mosque (there are lots of mosques in the area so wherever you are you will be close to one!) so you will hear call to prayer several times a day, including at around 4:45am. I was able to fall back to sleep once I was used to this. If not, I got up and took and early walk to watch the sunrise around the surrounding volcanoes, which was a spectacular sight - so I never minded the noise. If you are looking for a good value, relaxing location outside the city then this is the place. Ukhi and his family are wonderful hosts. Ukhi is also a driver and so will pick you up on arrival drop you off places and organise day trips for you on request. It's a great place - come and visit! I stayed once for 4 nights and was back again within the week, this time for 8 nights. There is lots to see and do, and it is also a relaxing environment to just enjoy.

The bathroom was smelly when we arrived, had to turn on the exhaust fan and place a soap we brought to put the odor away. We book the triple bedroom, I expected a small room from the photos, I didn't expect it was smaller that I imagined. No wardrobe to store our clothes, no table to place our suitcase, the room we just messy during our stay, not much space to place anything. The room has a window with no view, literally, needs to be closed at all times. Pool was dirty the first day we arrived, I think they cleaned it as it was usable on the second day. The small courtyard was quite nice with free afternoon snack, tea & coffee. Breakfast has few choices but tastes delicious, small variety from day to day. The place has unique murals which I believe why people came to this place. Lots of spot to take photos each day. Location wise it's very strategic especially when you're planning to explore Kaliurang. Also a good spot to go around Jogja as it is close to the Ring road. Overall I would recommend this hotel for a one night stay to experience it's unique ambience. For longer stay, there are more options in Jogja with similar rate.

Reviewed By GNW325There’re 10 of us staying at the villa for 3 nights, including an elderly of 76 years old and some kids. The villa is located in the middle of a small village many paddy fields. When we visited it’s very cooling. About 20 degree celcius at night. To go to the villa, I just used Google Map. We got the big house with 4 bed rooms. The lighting of the house was poor. I used my flashlight at certain points. You cannot use their lights for reading. It’s so dim. They need to improve it. Somehow. The kitchen, living and dining areas are open space, Cat can have easy access and it has caused our food ruined and eaten. You must keep your food carefully inside your room perhaps. Their breakfast was great on the first & second mornings. They served fried chicken & cap cay (veggie) and the second morning was soto kuning. Delicious. But the third morning, they only served bubur kacang hijau (green bean porridge). It’s delicious still. Their room service is not reliable. When we arrived for check-in about 7.30pm, they were no longer accepted any order for dinner because they had many guests and they did not have capacity to0 cook for us. So we had to order by GoFood, it cost us extra about Rp 40-50 thousand per order from the city. The Cook was a nice lady. She could cook deliciously (for our breakfast meals). The hot water and water pressure on each bathroom is different and not reliable. I got Room #2, the water pressure was low, you could not have shower. We reported this, but they could not fix it. So, I have to use the bathroom in Room #3, it has good water pressure, but no hot water. Each room has air-con. They put clean bed sheet. Change the towels every morning. Clean up the room every day. Their toiletries is just toothpaste. My advise, please bring your own toiletries. So... Do we want to return to the villa...? We might when we cannot find somewhere else better... We like the surrounding, but we do not want to have cold water and cat eaten our food.

Tapi yang beda dari Omah Ucok, penginapan ini terletak di tengah hiruk pikuk masyarakat desa, bener bener ditengah kampung. Atmosfirnya beda, asik banget! Buat berdua yg cari suasana tenang, cocok. Buat rame rame, juga cocok banget. Ada pendopo dengan khas joglo untuk ruang interaksi, buat santai, sarapan, ngobrol dan diskusi disitu pas banget. Kalau mau jalan jalan, kawasan kaliurang misalnya, merapi volcano tour, kopi klotok bener bener ngga jauh dari Omah Ucok. Ke Candi Prambanan juga ngga sampe 1 jam. Buat orang kota yang sehari harinya sibuk dan bener bener cari penginapan untuk istirahat dan butuh suasana yang beda, Omah Ucok tempatnya!

Reviewed By Aa_RyoKami menginap disini saat libur lebaran 2017 sehingga tarifnya sedikit naik dari biasanya. Kondisi kamar cukup baik namun butuh banyak renovasi / perbaikan agar tamu betah. Lokasinya cukup jauh dari Malioboro dan sepertinya anda butuh kendaraan pribadi untuk menjangkau penginapan ini.
