Private room with private bath in a separate building from the main house. Very comfortable. Catherine greeted us upon arrival and offered us a drink and some cookies. She took us to her deck at the back of the house which has a spectacular view of Lake Rotorua, which you can access from her yard down a short path. Accommodations were excellent, king bed and all bathroom amenities provided. There is a private refrigerator in the hallway behind room, along with a an electric hot water pot and plenty of teas and coffees to choose from. Also, milk in the fridge, along with an assortment of bite size chocolates. Breakfast was served in the main house, with Catherine and Roger eating with us. There is a choice of Asian, English/American or Continental breakfast, which you choose the night before. We chose the English/American. Roger made us a large, delicious breakfast consisting of scrambled eggs, sautéed mushrooms & tomatoes, bacon, ham, hash browns, fresh cut kiwi, and toast. Also juice and coffee were available. We met their 5 yr old son at breakfast, who is so cute. All in all, a good stay, if you don’t mind mingling with the owners. If you prefer your privacy, I suppose you can skip the breakfast with them. We found them to be good hosts. We enjoyed our stay.

Don't stay here

This place looks way better in pics than it does in person, and is ridiculously overpriced for what you get. I wouldn't pay $100 a night to stay here, yet they ask 2.5x that. Spend your money at a premium hotel in the city centre .. it'll probably cost you the same but at least you'll be staying in a place that's been maintained since 1980 and some level of cleanliness/comfort
