Reviewed By Jode111Very welcoming host who gave loads of recommendations, and he even moved his own car, so we could park on his spot instead of in the street. The room was clean and well equipped, and although the bathroom was a little small is was very functional and had a nice shower.

Reviewed By RueskovFor the price this was a very good place to stay in charming Rothenburg and I was happy that we had chosen a place inside the city gates instead of a hotel at the train station. The breakfast service at Pension Elke was great and the host went out of his way to make sure that we got all what we wanted and at the same time made sure to avoid the spread of virus by serving everything from the extensive buffet himself instead of letting guests get close and help themselves.

Reviewed By Mino65A lovely small hotel, well equipped and very clean: me and my wife stayed there at the beginning of December for one night and the room was perfect. It is located in a charming area close to Rothenburg: the ancient city can be reached in 15 min walking. Very warm welcome from the owner and excellent breakfast. A place I would definitely recommend.

Reviewed By Penny MHotel was great for our one night stay and the breakfast was very good with the table set for us specifically. We were met at the door and helped with luggage. Parking is very handy for Rothenburg, just two blocks away.

Comfortable and convenient
Reviewed By 929KevinPThe Bayrischer Hof is a pleasant small hotel, adequately equipped and very close to the centre of this lovely old town. Our room was comfortable, clean, and big enough for a couple of days. Free wifi is provided, but access to some sites (i.e. Netflix) is restricted due to the wifi set -up. There is secure off road parking for drivers at the rear of the property, which locked at night so safe for motorcycles or pedal cycles. The hotel is also quite close to the train station. The historic town centre is a short walk away, and there's is also a large supermarket and shopping centre about 5 minutes from the hotel. Whilst the hotel is on a road through to the town, it's not particularly busy and is quiet at nights The hotel owner spoke good English, and was most hospitable and helpful. Due to family illness (Sept 2019), there was no bar or evening meals in the restaurant, though there's plenty of choice close by in the town. Breakfast was simple but more than adequate. I would happily stay here again.

DO NOT PAY FOR THE BREAKFAST
Reviewed By MIttens1105While this was convenient for the Christmas Market (just a short 10-minute walk) and they had a nice parking lot in front of the hotel, do not pay the 8,50 euro per person for breakfast. It is vastly overpriced for what you get. Some sandwich meat, cheese, cucumber slices, tomato wedges, some cereals and some assortment of bread plus the usual tea, juice, water, and coffee. They wanted to charge extra for eggs. We booked this place on booking. com and the receptionist said it did not include breakfast and would we like to include breakfast. Do not let our folly become your loss as well. We should have asked what was included and what was the cost. Lesson learned. The people were friendly enough, but 17 euro for a nothing breakfast was a bit much. It is a no frills room so if you just want a place to crash, then it is OK. There were two of us and the room was a decent size. The bathroom was super tiny, but hey, it's Europe. It was also just the one flat pillow. I had to improvise and wad an extra blanket underneath the pillow for some lift. The TV was tiny, but we didn't watch it. The staircase is windy and a little steep, not too bad, but just a heads up. Just don't pay for breakfast! We would not stay here again, though.

Great value - must stay at least one night in Rothenburg
Reviewed By Richard MWe had a comfortable 2-room pension - one with a double bed and one with a single bed (room #2). This is a beautiful 700 year old house, with ongoing updates and restorations. If you're expecting a 4-star hotel quality, go elsewhere, but this was perfect for us and real value for the money. The hosts were super nice and responsive. Contactless access was simple. A bit of a tight space, but that was to be expected. Be flexible when you take a shower - hot water was a bit limited sometimes. Location is actually perfect - for any accomodation in the Spitalgasse - you can park right in front of the house and pay at a machine, but there is cheaper parking just outside the walls in P1, and through a little opening in the wall to the right of the parking lot, it was only about 200m to the pension, compared with some of the challenges there must be to get to the more inner lodgings. Rothenburg is a must-see walled town, and an overnight stay gives the real medieval feeling without the crowds (and some opportunities to try the night setting on your camera/phone for some awesome photos!). A (free) walk around the 4km walls gives an excellent overview and peek into gardens of houses. Even in shoulder season though, the restaurants were busy and after 6pm, most were fully booked, either not accepting anyone, or involving waiting for someone to leave. So scope something out in the afternoon and make a reservation or sit down for dinner at 5:30.

Reviewed By superkrageA very nice place and a lovely host. Our room was small but quiet, clean and functional. Breakfast buffet was made into ‘serve-to-table’ due to COVID restrictions. This worked very well and our host was attentive and helpful and would refill everything on request.
