The Avatar Railay Resort is something unique - a brand new boutique resort with a selection of different accommodations to suit every need. Materials, appliances, fittings and fixtures are not only top-specification but are also featured to be highly energy efficient. Furniture, furnishings, fabrics and décor are modern, stylish and pleasing to the eye, with imported hardwoods from America and Canada, colour schemes keyed to harmonious earth-tones, luxury spring mattresses and top quality Egyptian cotton bed linen, plus with a 40-inch flatscreen Samsung TV with USB input connected to international satellite channels in every room and suite. The location, on Railay Beach East is accessible only by boat. It's secluded and peaceful - no cars or motorbikes anywhere. And yet it's not totally isolated, having a short beachside strip of colourful bars and restaurants, with several 'mini-marts' plus a pharmacy and medical centre. Access to the mainland is quick and easy by means of water taxis which run continually throughout the day. However, our resort has its own boat deck, and hotel boats are available for guests at all times.

Reviewed By nstnl7I loved Avatar, and had the perfect stay. The room had a porch with a daybed that you could step straight into the pool from. The room was perfectly clean, good air-con and comfortable space. There's often monkeys around the area so be careful with food... But the staff were friendly and helpful, and most nights there was a singer out in the bar area. The Restaurant was pretty poor, so i wouldn't recommend eating here. But there's lots of great restaurants a short walk away. All in all it was a great stay, and if i'm ever in Railay again i'd 100% stay here!

Reviewed By coco2006arielThis resort offers the best view I’ve probably seen in my entire travel in Thailand. The sea view from their restaurant is truly breathtaking in a sunny morning. The resort itself is peaceful and surrounded by tropical plants. The wooden hut is basic but surprisingly has good air conditioning, powerful hot shower and stable WiFi. We also enjoyed waking up by birds’ song everyday. Staff were friendly and willing to help. A couple of things to keep in mind though: 1) there is a three-minutes steep climb to get to the hotel. Can be tiring for the elderly. 2) the hotel only has breakfast, but it’s possible to get lunch and dinner from a nearby hotel.

We got what we wanted but unfortunately the whole experience was very disappointing. Pros: 1.Beautiful view. Situated in the midst of greenery looking out onto East side of Railay. 2. They provide a transport to go down to the beachfront and back up.(a tractor type vehicle) The resort is up in the hill, you need to be fit to stay here to walk up and down. We didn't mind. 3. Most staff are nice and polite (with an exception of a maintenance guy.) 4. Breakfast was average (except the flies on the tables and bees in jam jars) Cons: 1.We were unfortunate to be there the same time as 2 big groups consisted of 40 plus something people. We had one guy shouting below us onto his friends at the pool. He kept making crazy noise with no consideration of other people's privacy. I know this is hard for the resort to control so this is NOT a complaint but a suggestion. For example, instead of telling us that the vehicle cannot take us back up to the lobby because the driver was waiting for the group of guests, he should have at least provided another vehicle for us. That way we would not have felt that the group guests had priority over individuals like us even though we paid more money. I think the staff are not well-trained to have service mind. If things cannot be done within that moment, they should promptly take action to find creative solution! A little thing like that does count! For the rest of our stay we walked up and down from hotel to beachfront, couldn't be bothered anymore. 2.We hadn't realised that this place is a TWO STAR HOTEL according to Google. So there is NO SAFE in the room. And there are no pool towels provided. 3.It took ages for us to get into the room.Check in time is 2 PM. But we had to wait and to keep asking them if our room was ready as they sent us to wait at the pool bar. And there was no one bother notifying us. Another couple encountered the same issue but had to wait longer than us. 4. Leaks in the roof. Never before did we encounter leaking ceiling when staying in a seemingly well looked after resort. We had to try to sleep with the sound of rain drops onto ceiling. Water was flowing down onto the bathroom door and down onto the floor. We laughed even though it wasn't funny in the end! They were notified and we were told that they were going to recompense us in some way. Rooms were all booked out. So in the morning after some guests had checked out, they asked if we wanted to move, but that would mean losing a room with the view we had originally booked for. So we decided not to move to save trouble packing and unpacking. 5. The shower had no hot water for the 1st day and more half, we in the end couldn't cope with cold shower anymore, so we called for maintenance guy to come and fix. Waited 30 minutes and this guy smelled of alcohol came with another lady who might be an owner not sure. He in the end fixed it but he was rude, no apology from both persons. 6. They maid did not understand the "Do not disturb" sign. Because of no safe in the room, we wanted to go for breakfast quickly and come back up without having to lock our valuables in the case. So you would have thought hanging the sign "do not disturb" on the door would stop anyone from entering in. But nope! We came back only to find that the room was done. Thanks for their enthusiasm to clean but that's not what the guests wanted! Hotel staff apologised for the mistake. But it's that many "small little things" that count towards how well the guests are treated and cared for. The administrator of FB page sent apologies for all the troubles we had. That's about it. For the money we paid (almost 3000 b a night!) and the service we got, we felt ripped off. We aren't coming back here.

Honestly, one of the best guesthouses we have stayed in the past 4yrs of traveling full time. The owner couple are amazing, friendly, honest, loyal, respectful and they just simply make you feel better by being themselves. Such a warm hearted people! Next, the room.. Perfect!! Bed is incredibly comfy (yeah, doesn't happen so often in Thailand), ac works really well, soundproof is great (sure if you stay by the road, it can get noisy sometimes), shower got good pressure and all in all the room is spacious and super clean. The main area in Ao Nang is very hectic and busy so if you like too listen that 24/7, you better find another place to stay. But if you are looking for a peaceful, lovely accommodation, you will not get disappointed. Nopparat Thara beach is only 1km away and on the way you will have plenty of restaurants and 7/11. And the busier main beach ain't too far either, around 1,7km. It will be good exercise for sure but don't worry, you can also rent a scooter.. Going to another direction gets cheaper and vibe turns into local so you better explore that side too, not only the beach area. Will definitely come back again! Big thumps up!

We booked a trip to Krabi,a daily tour by speed boat to Ko Rok & Ko Ha and the transfer to Krabi airport. Prices are really really convenient! But I want to talk about the 2 girls employees! They’ve been REALLY professional and helpful by giving us both details and suggestions about our trips. They have been REALLY nice,gentle and well prepared but above all they have been VERY patient!!! Hope they’ll know we’ve appreciated their efforts,job and kindness very much!!! Thanks a million!!!!

Rounded the corner, and this one stood out like a beacon, a pre-revolutionary Cuba hotel feel, like the Capri. Great and professional owner. Great balcony on second floor rooms. The owner helped me much in renewing my covid extension visa. Very congenial and accomodating.

Staff is efficient and helpful. Although we couldn’t use it, the swimming pool looked very good. Surprisingly breakfast was not offered as an option, perhaps because of low occupancy after Covid crisis

Reviewed By L8277IZpeterjFinally got a chance to stay for a couple of days, prices have been slashed and two nights including breakfast was less than a single night in low season before Covid. We had the first day all to ourselves, no other guests, drawback is that no restaurant open for anything other than breakfast. Room was beachside and showing its age a little but clean and everything working. Be prepared to exercise if you have beachside room, the walk to anywhere is uphill and I do mean uphill, gives you exercise before you get to the pool. Overall very good, not five star but excellent value.
