Reviewed By PatchareepichaiThe hotel is located on the river bank,it's quite good scenery of river Kwai.There is small restaurant name Daveport that serve you variety food and the price isn't too high but not so tasty . We think the room need more maintenance,the quality of wifi and the area around the corridor. We appreciate staff's services. But the most disappointing is the cleanliness of the swimming pool and the pool side bathroom as well.

The staff were amazing (great English and very accommodating), the room spotlessly clean and well appointed (with fast reliable wifi). The bed was very comfortable. The location is 2.6km from the main bus depot and 1.3km to the Bridge. This was quite walkable, given the humidity was much lower than Bangkok. Highly recommended...

VN Guesthouse is a relaxing and comfortable riverfront guesthouse with panoramic views of the River Kwai. The family that runs the guesthouse is welcoming all guests to enjoy the wonderful aspects of Kanchanaburi and making sure everyone is having a wonderful stay. We are just a 2 KM away from the bus terminal (city centre) and 1 KM from the Kanchanaburi train station. In a short walk you will find the area with restaurants and bars. A great way to discover the city is on a motorbike (for rent at the front desk) and we are able to arrange tours in cooperation with local travel agencies. We offer clean rooms and basic rooms for a good price. Our wide choice of rooms fits to all needs; from rooms on the raft with fan to deluxe rooms with air-condition & hot water shower. All our rooms have private shower and toilet. Our restaurant captures beautiful views of the river and serves delicious traditional Thai, Burmese and European dishes from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
Great value for money in modest, rustic, guesthouse on a river
Reviewed By jomtienbeachI have been to this area many times, and wanted to stay in a room on the river. I couldn't believe the price, but booked it nevertheless. It turned out to be one of the great values, excellent locations, and completely quiet, so that one could hear the river monitors that sunbath on the bamboo barrier outside the bank of rooms on the river. Although the review I read was in error about the conditions of the facilities, that the toilet was the old style, in fact the room was clean, well laid out, and perfect for our needs for the price, 300 baht a night ($10.00 U. S.) There is a charming, airy, restaurant upstairs, from which one can view the complete length of the river, from bridge to bridge, and across to the other side. I took my morning tea and evening wine, as well as most daily meals from this restaurant. The staff are very hospitable and knowledgeable, and directed us to transportation, exhibits, and every worthwhile activity for which the Death Railroad on the Bridge is known. I learned that the guest house has already earned highest ratings. They are most often used by Thais. I was the only foreignor around!

There were 6 of us and we had booked 3 rooms.My husband (Thai) got upset, because she was very unfriendly almost hostile by Thai standards. But we decided to give the place a chance. The next day they were a bit better, but cannot compare to the other small family run guesthouse nearby where we stayed last time. After the day out we wanted to use the pool. Apparently the relatives of the owner were using the pool.The boys were very rowdy and noisy, and were catcalling one of our daughters,who was just walking by the poolside, which was rude. The rooms and the poolbeds were a bit dated. We could see this place has seen better days.We had poolside rooms. Rooms were a bit small and stuffy.but at least clean.Some sheets had stains,The Hot water in our bathroom was not working . ( the other rooms ok) Pros: It has a pool, which is nice after a long day out and great for a morning dip. We liked it that the rooms were right by the pool. Room had a small fridge which was practical for us. A decent breakfast at a very reasonable price. Nice cheap restaurant featuring both Western and Thai dishes. A beautiful view at the river. Nice outside area where you can relax.Good location and good parking space. It was a pity, as the initial unwelcome " welcome" sorta spoiled the experience, had the staff been more welcoming ,friendly and better trained in this area, it would have been nice. It was good value for the price.

Reviewed By ameliar842I stayed in one of the first rooms you see at the resort so a bit of a walk from there to the restaurant but pleasant. overall the room was nice but after showering the entire bathroom would smell of sewage and around the back of the rooms outside also smelt. very confusingly quirky and if it weren't for the smell of sewage and the unnecessarily long walks between buildings it would be nice

Great mid sized property in fantastic location
Reviewed By barrile_skjThis was a walk in booking and therefore I secured a fairly reasonable rate. This is a stunning property that has been beautifully designed and laid out with fantastic attention to detail. As with Covid times, all you could do was walk around and admire it all, as nothing was open and operating (except for the pool). I didn’t use this but it was a lovely infinity pool overlooking the river. This property is also in a great location in town and right on the river. I did struggle with communication. No staff spoke any speck of English and didn’t understand my translator, so the boss lady had to be called to intervene each time. The room was spacious and the bathroom was large with a great shower, however the lighting was a bit grim and the only bedroom window that offered privacy faced a brick wall. Another odd thing was there were no amenities in the bathroom and housekeeping replenished your water, tea, coffee & towels only. I was a little surprised they didn’t make the bed, but no big deal. Cable TV was useless but other than all that I believe this properly would have been busy and super popular pre Covid times!

Very very basic. And not very clean
Reviewed By theartisansAccommodations looked cool. Host very nice but rooms not up to what I thought they would be. Stayed in a room on the water and it was dirty. Curtains did not look like they ad been washed for years and were all falling apart. Bed sheet appeared clean but stained. Smell of must in the room left me rather sleepless. The bathroom in the room was clean but everytime water went down the sink, it leaked on to the floor. Some plumbing connection at floor lever was not working as it should. No bathroom amenities except a minute bar of soap. For one night, I made do. If I had been in town longer I would have looked for other accommodation. No breakfast, tea or coffee provided. Only upside was location - on the water and in downtown main area of Kanchanaburi.

Reviewed By Stay57551402839We been in north Thailand over two weeks and order this hotel because we sew recommend on Tripadvisor. Positive: view from the hotel was great- next to the river, and the restaurant is ok and it seems the room was clean. however the negative: the breakfast wasn’t good at all- there’s not selection and it seems that the food is not clean enough. The hotel is not close to the centre (20 minutes walk) and there’s not any taxis around so you have to order taxi from the hotel and this is much more expensive than any taxi that we ever order in Thailand.
