Location is amazing, right across from the main tourist attractions, as well as convenience stores and restaurants. I love their cats! I would definitely stay again.

Reviewed By GraemeH187What a gem in the highlands of Korea. We left Seoul, to drive down to Busan and decided to drive through the countryside, and wanting to stay at a traditional Korean place. We arrived late at night by the owner, who spoke perfect English, to welcome us to his family’s home. The temple/homestead was built in 1588 and been in the same family, passed down, ever since. This “hotel” with only 3 rooms, all the traditional Hanok style of sleeping on the floor with a traditional breakfast, was amazing. The room was sooo clean, heated floor along with a reverse cycle air conditioner and a very modern, newly renovated and clean bathroom. It has string unlimited free Wi-Fi throughout the place. This Australian, used to 5 star places, was expecting this to be the worse night sleep out of my whole korean trip, it was actually one of the best. It was sooo quiet during the night, the bed was comfy and room temperature I changed to suit what u wanted to have s great night sleep. In the morning, I had an excellent hot shower with all the amenities, excellent water pressure and very clean. It was like new! Finally breakfast was freshly made and a combination of a traditional Korean breakfast and beautiful view out over the river. The quietness at night and during the day, made this the perfect place to relax and enjoy the culture and nature. Highly recommend. 5⭐️

Fabulous Hotel with great location
Reviewed By NorthumberlandAlfThis hotel is a real find. It is centred on the main seaside street overlooking the POSCO steel works. Make sure you get a sea view room so that you can watch the 8pm spectacular light festival that lights up the steelworks. The people who manage the hotel could not be any more helpful. Indeed the manager walked us down the street to a noodle bar and ordered food for us as we don’t speak Korean as he wanted to ensure that we had a decent evening meal. There is 24 hour, coffee, toast, water and yoghurts available in the foyer. Rooms are nicely decorated and the more expensive rooms have a massage chair.

Nice Gotaek, But Bring Earplugs
Reviewed By TiringButFunChiam Gotaek is a decent, clean, and reasonably well-run lodge. We just finished a two-night stay in the room with the adjoining tea terrace. We speak Korean, so we didn't experience the communication difficulties that others have mentioned, but we can easily imagine how that could be a problem for some visitors. In order to keep this detailed and brief, here are our thoughts. PROS -Private bath (we feel that it's worth the extra expense) -Well kept grounds -SMALL towels provided CONS -Noise. While the place is quiet during the day, the outdoor dogs (chained) have long-distance conversations during the night. We were awoken at 1, 3, and 6 AM on the second night that we stayed there. The dogs made similar noise the night before, and if you choose to stay here for the experience of traditional Korean living, then you absolutely must bring earplugs or drink heavily. Or both. -Bedding. Unless you are accustomed to sleeping on top of something bearing the thickness of a sleeping bag on the floor, you will not sleep very comfortably (nevermind the barking dogs). Bring a Thermarest pad if you want to be able to walk in the morning. -Wifi. We were told that Chiam had Wifi, but our phones only connected to it when we went into the back recesses of the lodge. In other words, we could not connect to the Internet from our room. Rent a Wifi puck at the airport or try to work with the free but slow Wifi available in public spaces downtown. -Location. You will need to deal with taxis because bus service to this area, only a few kilometers from the train station, is surprisngly infrequent. Fortunately it won't cost you much (about 4,000 won to get from across the street from Home Plus to Chiam).

Great escape
Reviewed By judith989This is a really great place to escape from all your troubles. I like the traditional setting. They have an online and offline reading section in the resort. They also have accomodations for overnight stays. This is indeed a great place to escape to. Although the transportation is a little tricky. I had to take two bus transfers from the bus terminal and a taxi to get to the location. Be prepared to wait for long intervals to access the buses. Great place indeed.

Reviewed By KHCCHEWThis cozy guesthouse is located in the residential neighbourhood. The friendly host Ms. Kim Sun Sim able to speak minimum English but she understood English quite well. We stayed for 3 nights. The rooms were very clean and cozy. The shared kitchen can be used from 8am until 11pm; there were coffees, tea, juices and bottle water to share. Bread, eggs and Korean instant noodles were provided in the shared kitchen. There were lot of different types of restaurants in the surrounding, the tourist attractions were all within walking. Perfect guesthouse to stay in Gyeongju.

Nice and simple
Reviewed By W9495VXlizsWe stayed for a couple of nights in the Pension room. Which means sleeping in the floor with traditional mats. Other than not what we are use too we had a good stay. The couple who run the motel are just lovely. Speak no English but are incredibly helpful. Breakfast is simple but enough. The eggs she cooks are amazing. We would stay again
