Nice hotel, strategic location
Reviewed By Dick ONice hotel, large rooms with kitchenette, microwave and nespresso machine. Room was clean and bed hard, just as I like it. The room had just a bath and in the morning the water was lukewarm. Will add this to my list of options when I am in Essen for business.

The " Hotel Rutherbach " is a small , family-run country house hotel with an intimate atmosphere and is ideally located between Essen-Werden and Essen-Kettwig , directly at the Ruhr . Popular hiking and cycling trails , such as the RuhrtalRadweg , pass by the house . The city center is a short drive away. The connection to the Messe Dusseldorf and Essen exhibition center is convenient and easy . A trip here takes about 20 minutes . An ideal location for discerning business and fair guests , and bicycle and city tourists . The entire hotel was completely renovated of 2010. The rooms are modern and comfortably furnished and offer everything your heart desires . The new bathrooms have shower and toilet each . Parking is available and free in front of the house . Dogs are allowed in the hotel and in front of the house there is a small beer garden for residents

Fairly basic and limited parking
Reviewed By Stuart FArrived at about 8pm and no one at front desk - key under a lamp on an outside table. Room was fairly basic and bed not too comfortable. Staff friendly when we checked out in the morning. Parking is limited in their car park but you can park on the road outside. The small suburb of Essen is quite quiet but there are restaurants and bars 100 meters up the road.

The owner charged me straight away, but when she saw my dog she literally kicked me out, shouting that it's her house, her rules and doesn't care what Booking.com says.(they have advertised themselves as a dog friendly on Booking).Then she grabbed my arm and order me to clean the room, where I spent literally 15 minutes. She cancelled my reservation on Booking.com, so that I couldn't leave my review, but I haven't received the money I paid for that pension (€45) For your own safety avoid that place!

Für mich persönlich passt das nicht zusammen mit den vielen E-Mails die ich erhalten hatte. Wenn ich auf Geschäftsreise bin habe ich keine Zeit mich um gefühlt unzählige Mails vom Hotel zu kümmern. Selber einchecken, meldeschein und was weiß ich nicht noch. Das Hotel soll entspannen nicht nerven für mich. Stellt doch lieber zu Stoßzeiten zwei Leute oder einen Concierge an den Empfang im „Concierge“ Hotel. Ich hab schon B-Deals mit weniger Mails gemacht. Einchecken ect sehe ich nicht als meine Arbeit an sondern die des Hotels. Inkl genug Personal dass es dann schnell geht. Hab genug um die Ohren am B-Trip ohne Hotelmails. Top Bewertung trotzdem wegen tollem Zimmer.

Reviewed By Silly1057Es bestand ein deutlicher Unterschied zwischen dem Bild im Internet und der Wirklichkeit. Die Wände im Flur waren schon sehr verschmutzt und verschrammt, Zimmer und Bad ok. Die Betten hatten allerdings keinen festen Stand, rutschten bei jeder Bewegung hin und her. Trotz 2maliger Bitte an der Rezeption wurde das nicht abgestellt. (angeblich gab es Rollen unter den Betten, die man feststellen konnte, Wir kamen leider nicht dran) . Eine Mitarbeiterin am Empfang war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit, eine andere genau das Gegenteil. Die Kopfkissen waren extrem dünn, so dass wir nicht gut geschlafen haben.

Basic accommodation for a fair price
Reviewed By Miha FI've stayed in this guest house during a trip to the north of Germany and I needed a place to stay overnight, cheap, close to Essen. Rather easy to find but not easy to park the car, the building is very simple and the residents in the area as well, seems to be more of a very basic lodging than anything else. Rooms were kind of clean, but very small and no bathroom. Thin walls, you can hear you neighbours clearly, hoping you won't hear more than the sound of the radio or television. City center was 10 min walking distance. Can complain about anything really, what you pay for is what you get.

Reviewed By jorgeseu... if you from the outside on the hotel as you are looking forward to mining history ... also in the entrance hall everything was decorated charmingly ... the staff very friendly ... it really has something .... when I am in my room came back I was back on the floor of the facts brought back ... little charm ... broken and for the window too short a curtain .. plastic pillows ... plastic sheets ... and on the carpet floor in the room you wanted not really barefoot running ... no free water .. a bathroom which really needs to be reconditioned and is very small ... the breakfast also sobering .. for almost 10 € not even scrambled eggs or something else warm ... Unfortunately it did friendly staff can not save the overall impression ... I find it hard to recommend it ... too bad ..
