Les Lezards Bed & Breakfast

A beautiful and romantic colonial guesthouse in Cartagena de Indias, in the vibrant and traditional Getsemani area, one of the last truly exotic places in the Caribbean, the most dynamic downtown location where new boutique hotels, bars and restaurants sprawl. Positioned in a quiet street, away from traffic and commercial activities, and just a few feet away from the Arsenal and the booming Calle del Guerrero and Media Luna night spots and at walking distance from all the best restaurants and attractions. The house designed by award winning architect blends colonial with mediterranean style and is decorated with items and maps collected during worldwide journeys. All rooms are custom designed. The cotto floors with spanish ceramic accents help you cool down and unwind surrounded by an abundant tropical vegetation with adult mango and palm trees. Guests can relax in the patios and enjoy an open air tile jacuzzi on the terrace and a mirador/solarium with views on the Cathedral, the churches of San Pedro and La Trinidad and the Castillo San Felipe. The house is on a north-south axis and enjoys plenty of natural ventilation

Great stay and location

Reviewed By Shevtriz24

I was thoroughly impressed with this b&b. The location itself is reason to stay here. Everyone was welcoming and I was in love with my room. I was in Cartagena for 4 days but could only stay here for 3 as my room was not available on the fourth night. I felt extremely safe as a solo traveler staying here and would definitely recommend anyone else to as well. My room was also extremely clean. Any questions I had were answered by the staff and even though I couldn't partake in the breakfast too much (I left early for tours) it was good to know that it was available.

Beautiful location and great food! My friend and I are very glad we booked this as we had a wonderful time. The food was EXCELLENT, truly some of the best we had in Cartagena. The boat ride was a bit choppy coming back but the only one to blame is mother nature lol

honeymoon

Reviewed By G2338UBmaryj

My husband and I spent two nights in the deluxe sweet for the last two nights of our honeymoon. The location was fantastic in the less posh section of the walled city -- the little plaza with the well that the hotel looks out on is lovely, and nearby Trinidad plaza is really fun as well. We loved the patio area with a jacuzzi tub outside our room -- and used it a lot. Perfect for resting our aching feet after a day strolling the city. The plants in that patio area are especially stunning and make for a romantic and relaxing spot. The rooftop terrace is adorable -- we loved the plants especially (someone really good seems to tend the plants throughout the hotel) and we enjoyed watching hummingbirds and other birds on the room. The service staff were very friendly and helpful and worked with our limited Spanish language skills. One issue is that the room wasn't super clean -- cobwebs on the lamps in the room, lamp fixtures outside the room, under the wardrobe, and grime-encrusted doors (around the doorknob) were not ideal. We also thought the breakfast was okay at best -- I was especially disappointed that the fruit was not fresher (it appeared as though it was cut up one or more days before being served vs. serving very fresh fruit cut just before serving). We did not swim in the pool, which was right beside the reception desk. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much!

Great location, all the basics (but austere)

Reviewed By MidwestBoomer

This is a tourist area—near colonial buildings as well as many restaurants. The hotel is close to a small grocery store in the Éxito chain (their contemporary shopping bags are cheap yet authentic souvenirs); a drugstore; and bookstores with maps and postcards. It’s more of a walk to Las Bóvedas, where souvenirs range from traditional tote bags all the way to Pablo Escobar tee shirts. Men were often wearing shorts—it was hot. Streets are narrow and traffic can be snarled; allow extra time. The hotel lacks an elevator, and one must climb 25 steps to the lobby. However, staff were very eager to help with luggage. The room was clean. I had a flat screen tv and remote. The lobby has computers and a printer. The bathroom seemed tiny. Running water was tepid (no choice of hot or cold). Towels were thin, and there was no face cloth. There was soap but no shampoo. There was no telephone in the room, but I had good cell phone reception. Wi-fi seemed slow at times. A grounded electrical outlet was near the bed. The light switch was not close to either the door or the bed. The air conditioning worked well. However, it was important to close the bathroom door since the bathroom had a roof vent. I did not have a window with an exterior view. This did have an advantage in that there was no problem with street noise. There was no deadbolt lock. There was a metal lock box in which I could place my valuables. I used one of my luggage locks to lock the box. There was no electronic safe.

Most incredible hotel on the islands

Reviewed By 380laurav

Probably the most amazing getaway we've ever been on. This hotel is spectacular- it is on an island with the most beautiful water surrounding it. The staff is delightful- from the moment we arrived, they were attentive to our every need and desire. I mentioned it was my partner's 30th birthday and Carlos, who was managing the hotel during our stay, surprised us with a beautiful setup on the beach- our own dinner table all lit up, even with the number 30 on the sand in lights. They allowed us to check in early and to even choose our room. The food was amazing, the massage was incredible, the excursions were fantastic. We went to the enchanted lagoon at dusk to snorkel with the bioluminescent phytoplankton. We also walked around the island with our amazing masseuse. We took another excursion by boat to go snorkeling and visit some of the other beaches. The hotel only has 5 rooms (I think), so it really is like having your own place. Everything is clean and beautiful, the bathrooms even smelled amazing. The wifi is great despite being on an island. Truly a wonderful stay. We are so appreciative of the hospitality and so look forward to returning. Run, don't walk to book!
