Charming and quaint

Reviewed By MiaEJ2013

Charming old house a little off the beaten track in Bled. About 10 min walk to lake. Comfortable beds and nice bathroom, good free wifi. Limited free parking outside. No lift and some level differences in the room we stayed in. Very friendly and helpful receptionist. Breakfast was ok, but a little too many plastic containters. Note that there is an excellent restaurant in the hotel, the Old Cellar. Highly recommend eating there.

Tranquil Treat!

The receptionist and staff are full of life and gave a very warm welcome. The hotel itself feels hidden in nature and the natural pool makes what is a fantastically located property feel like it's an isolated oasis. We stayed in the riverfront tents and were delighted by the sounds of the river flowing at night. Grab a bike and go for a quick ride down to the lake.

A very good bed & bteakfast or an average 4 star hotel?

Reviewed By Gilo M

We spent here three nights at the beginning of January.  The location is beautiful as it has a nice view on the lake (even though it is somewhat obstructed by the trees). The town centre is a 15 minutes walk away. One downside of the location is the traffic noise, as the house is right on the road. The windows, although of good quality, are not sound proof and the noise of passing cars may become somewhat bothering at times, although it tends to die down at night. The apartment we were given was very spacious, with two separate bedrooms and a spacious and comfortable living room. All very clean and functional, very well heated, and with characteristically decorated rooms. Breakfast was also very good, with ample choice of cold cuts, croissants, bread, eggs made on order etc. In view of all this I would give it an excellent rating as a b&b.  However the problem is that the establishment categorizes itself as a 4 star hotel. Now, this is a bit of a problem, as the expectations from a 4 star hotel are inevitably much higher than those from a b&b.  First of all, there was a bit of confusion in the booking stage, as they charged me on the card a deposit of 20 per cent while they were supposed to only ask for an authorization from the credit card company. They reversed the charge but then they made 2 authorization requests for the same amount which forced me to a lot of back and forth with my bank to try and clarify what had actually happened. Nothing bad, because I didn't get unduly charged, but it was a bit of a nuissance for which I didn't get a straight apology. This confusion would be acceptable for a b&b but for a 4 star hotel it is a bit annoying. A bit of an issue also as far as the amenities in the room. Good towels and minibar, but no slippers, no shower cap, no bathrobe, no telephone (not even an intercom to communicate with the reception). All these things should be standard features in a 4 star hotel also because the price was indeed that of a 4 star hotel (not of a b&b). Another problem was that while my wife was taking a shower in the morning after our first night, the hot water suddenly disappeared completely while she was all soapy. We asked for an explanation and were told that everything was working ok: the reason for the sudden lack of hot water was that too many guests took a shower at the same time and the tank run out of hot water. Again, this may be acceptable in a b&b but not in a 4 star hotel. A good perk was the free private parking, although it is a bit on the crammed side. So overall a very good, albeit very expensive, bed and breakfast or an average 4 star hotel. Once you know the limitations, at least you know what to expect. Overall, I would give it a (just about) very good rating.

Couldn’t of asked for better help from someone who knows the area well. 10/10 rating, recommend to anyone who enjoys comforting, homely hotel rooms!

Vila Preseren

The Vila Prešeren boutique hotel lies under the castle cliffs right on the shore of Lake Bled. Traditional 19th century Bled villa offers two boutique suites and six contemporary rooms, suitable for those visitors of Bled who wish to stay in a modern guesthouse right in the heart of the town, may their trip be for business or for pleasure. The ground floor of Vila Prešeren houses a trendy café and restaurant, which delights guests with a rich selection of fragrant coffees, mouth-watering desserts, selected dishes and top-quality wines. In nice weather, these treats are served on the sunny terrace overlooking the lake.

Disappointing, how the level of service in the restaurant has fallen!

Reviewed By Jazzie1307

I am from Slovenia and I took out my German friends for dinner to Villa Prešeren, expecting the highest level of service and a great experience! 10 minutes before our reservation, we were "greeted" by a waiter, who told us that the table is just not ready yet as he still has 10 minutes; "you see, it's 18:50, so just wait cause I still have 10 minutes. Not my fault." We were ok with the wait, no problem, but this is just not the way you do things and not the way a waiter behaves in better restaurants (where they charge you 17eur for a plate of primo piatto-sized pasta with tartufata (not real truffles)). Secondly, Vila Prešeren is supposed to be on a higher level, placed in a historical building in a historical place. But sadly they put together a menu, which contains Serbian street food dishes as well. This just does not go in a place like that, where typical Slovenian (also exquisite) dishes should be their main focus. What a poor decision! It drags down the level of service and the overall experience for a couple of notches. As to the Gorenjska region hospitality during the main season, I didn't feel that either. Semi-rudeness all around. Not worth your money.

Central in Bled

Reviewed By CatJ85

The guesthouse has a central location on Bled, only 10 minute walk to the lake. We came late and the reception closed at 20:00, but luckily there were a man there to help us check in. The rooms are simple, but all we needed. Just as pictured on booking.com. The air conditioning was working nice but was a bit noisy. Water pressure in the shower is good. Beds are very firm, pillows are big and not so comfortable but it’s like this all over Slovenia. Internet was working good. Breakfast is simple (I’m from Scandinavia, so I’m spoiled when it comes to breakfast), has the basics.

quiet, pretty village location

Reviewed By Jenny P

Nice quiet location. Parking available in the village square and I also noticed regular buses in/out of the village. Very convenient for lake Bled, 10 minutes by car and Lake Bohinj, 30 minutes by car. Airport just 40 minutes drive. A little supermarket is also available in the village square, open 7am to 2 pm. Walks available from the village. Disliked · The shower head would not stay in place, so one hand had to be used to keep it pointing the right direction all the time. The description said there was a seating area in the room, but one dining chair in a room for 2-3 people does NOT constitute a seating area. The whole building smelt of stale cigar/tobacco smoke.

Good breakfast, just 3min walking distance to the lake, free parking, bikes available and can be used for free, nice and calm location, Brigitta is always ready to help with any matter, good space in the room and bathroom, both were tidy and clean. The external part of the hotel was a bit "messy" with clothes drying, cleaning bucket laying around, ventilators on the corridors... maybe a small thing, but only that avoid me to give a 5.
