Hotel Rathausglockel

Rathausglockel is a 4-Star family-run hotel. It is located in the heart of the city center, less than a minute walking distance from Friedrichsbad and Caracalla thermal baths. Rathausglockel was fully modernized and restored with attention to historical and architectural accuracy at the beginning of 2009 by the Asel family. Our goal is to provide warm, gracious, genuinely-friendly service in an environment of extraordinary comfort.

Beautiful, charming hotel with very friendly staff. Our favorite hotel!

We recently stayed at Hotel Rathausglöckel for 2 nights. We stayed in one of the triple rooms. This was by far the best place we stayed throughout our entire trip. There is a convenient spot to pull up just outside the front door to unload/load your luggage. Upon check in, Jasmin greeted us with kindness and warmth. She checked us in, gave us our parking pass (only €10 per night), drew on a map of where we needed to go for parking, gave us a city discount card and gave us recommendations for dinner. She even carried one of our very heavy suitcases up the stairs for us. She also called for dinner reservations for us for the next day and helped to find a COVID testing site. She was a shining star for sure. The parking was in a garage and was not far, an easy walk back to the hotel. The hotel itself was beautiful! The rooms were very clean and decor where amazing. The main beds were soft and the 3rd bed was firm. There were 2 bathrooms in our triple room, a very pleasant surprise. There is a quaint reading room and a rooftop terrace, both for guest use. Breakfast was included and delicious, with extensive food selections. The breakfast room itself was inline with the wonderful and charming decor of the rest of the hotel. Zoya, who served us breakfast, was also very kind and friendly. The hotel is located in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood, while being only a short walk to all of Baden-Baden's main attractions. It is literally only a few steps away from Friedrichsbad and only a few more to Caracala. I highly recommend this hotel and would not think of staying anywhere else on my next visit to Baden-Baden. My 2 friends felt the same.

Great place

Reviewed By Sean R

The staff were cool. The hotel had bikes and it was a short cycle into the town through pleasant parks and housing. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the price was great. All the shared facilities were clean. A well stocked supermarket within a couple of hundred meters and the boarding house's modern, well maintained kitchen make this ideal for a self catering stay.

Honestly, maybe my worst tourist experience.

Reviewed By Nurit B

This hotel charged my credit card without my permission for no good reason! There were several incidents that led me to understand that the hotel manager does not care at all about his customers - just about seizing every opportunity to get their money. The worst incident was that they charged me 150 Euros (!!!) just because my room key accidentally stayed with me after checkout. THEY made the mistake of checking me out without asking for the key (they didn't even notice until I called to tell them when I found it with me), THEY told me it was ok to mail it to them on the next day (which I did, on my own expense), and THEY didn't make sure they have a spare key. Still somehow they decided I should pay for this. I RECOMMEND TO STAY AWAY OF THIS HOTEL. You can never know what they will decide to charge you for...

Terrible hotel and definitely not worth 4 stars

Reviewed By Gisella44

Stayed here after reading mostly positive reviews about this hotel. Maybe they had an off-day but the service was not kind at all. It was very busy and maybe that’s why. We booked half pension but should have told them before ordering dinner. The next day we had a big discussion about this when paying the bill. Food was not bad but quite expensive for German standard, nothing special. The room was spacious but beds are small and interior is very outdated. Have stayed in better places for less.

Great little hotel and restaurant

Booked last minute due to change in travel plans. Great service at check in, suite was immaculately clean, comfortable and a good size for our family of four plus our dog. Used the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast both of which were really good. Walking distance to the city centre. Highly recommended.

Super food, friendly service, great pool

Reviewed By Fiona_Mayne

The spa area is very nice with a pool big enough to swim in and saunas. The breakfast had a great choice and fresh fruit. The room was clean and with everything you need. The only downside was that it was in the attic and quite noisy when it rained. The menu in the evenings was very nice, the service friendly and attentive. Drinks a little on the expensive side for the area. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

Amazing weekend break!

Reviewed By jpuhringer

I absolutely loved my stay here. My kids and I spent just 1 night here and we had a wonderful time. The room and bathroom were very neat and clean and my younger daughter had a blast watching all sorts of cartoons on the TV. The minibar wasn’t expensive and it was nice to have a fridge to keep coke and water cold. The ladies at the reception were very friendly and kind and extremely helpful. My kids and I had delicious home made Black Forest cake, eclairs and meringues at tea time outside the hotel’s own cafe, which is also so charming. And of course the service was superb. Even though there was no breakfast buffet this morning, because the hotel isn’t allowed to have one at the moment because of Corona, they really laid a big breakfast out for us at our table. There were warm breads, a big cheese and cold cuts platter, Nutella, juice, eggs and fresh fruit. The hotel is just a few steps away from the Innenstadt (center) and it’s all so charming. Stunning architecture and beautiful cobblestone streets. The hotel is close to the Friedrichsbad (an old Roman bath). There are many places to eat and shop. We also enjoyed a visit to the Lindt store for chocolate of course ? and Lindt ice cream and ice chocolate drinks! We had dinner at Garibaldi’s which I would recommend for their excellent Italian food and wonderful atmosphere and service. All in all a wonderful stay. I would recommend Hotel Beek to anyone visiting Baden-Baden!

An overpriced stay

Reviewed By Gera L

We have stopped at this hotel spontaneously, as we toured the Black Forest on a motorcycle, for one night. Well this is quite quaint hotel, heavy decorations both inside the rooms and public areas aim to create (I guess) a traditional Black-Forest atmosphere, lack coherence and common design, so in the end on my humble opinion this style was nothing but memorably weird. But as beauty is in the eye of the beholder, this is NOT the reason for the low rating. The reason for this rate is the fact that we have being charged 130 EURO for B&B only in the middle of the week not in the high season!! Short review of this hotel website reveals that the highest room rate for Half Board in a high season is 123EURO!! I think, what happened here was very wrong!

Great location, awesome staff, awkward entrance

Reviewed By Oriley2013

This hotel was awesome. The room was large for a German hotel and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I also recommend eating at the restaurant whether you are staying at the hotel or not - the meal we had there was delicious. Our one and only complaint was how awkward it was to get to the room. We had to walk through the full restaurant and through the staff break area to get to the CREAKY stairs. We stayed in a room overlooking the patio which was very busy at times but the noise never bothered us (might bother some people). Overall - the location of the hotel is perfect for exploring Freiburg and we would probably stay here again.
