Very good location and staff are great helpful

We stayed here for visiting the Valley of Temples. It's just a few minutes drive distance with a car. Hotel seems also provides shuttle to the site return for a fee of 10 EUR. To the sandy beach just walk five minutes. Hotel has secure and free car parking and a swimming pool. The hotel restaurant also provides delicious local food. Highly recommended. The staff at both reception and restaurant are very friendly and helpful. When we complained about the party noise on the same floor, they immediately changed our room to another floor, a quiet place. THANK YOU! The hotel room is clean and spacious, but the wall's sound isolation needs to be improved.

Leaves a lot to be desired

Reviewed By Adam R

My pregnant wife and I stayed at the Le Dune Resort from 20-Aug to 27-Aug and we found it to be very disappointing and definitely not a 4 star experience. It was a mix of poor service, lack of professionalism, low food quality and lack of cleanliness. WELCOME: There was no greeting from Francorosso at the airport or at the resort. It was very disorganized and the some of the staff did not even know where our room was located. We had called Francorosso in advance telling them that my wife would be 7 months pregnant at the time of the vacation and if there were any accommodations they could make to make it easier for her. Instead they put us in the room furthest from everything. We complained and they moved us to room 105 in front of the pool, so good that they moved us but it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Then when you check-in they also make you pay 10 euros deposit for a crappy old beach towel that is fraying on the edges and you have to keep the same towel for the whole week without it being washed. Every other 4 star resort I've stayed at has a daily towel service by the pool/beach. ROOMS: The rooms are small. You cannot open the wardrobe door fully without it hitting the bed (see photo). On the positive side the bathroom is very large and well appointed, almost as big as the room. However they only provide you with "St.Jane" branded shampoo and no conditioner. Other 4 star resorts provide conditioner to guests, especially at a beach/pool resort. The air conditioner works well but is too noisy to sleep with it on. It constantly makes a noise like a toilet refilling with water after being flushed. We ended up just turning it on only while we were out to get the room cool enough to sleep. Also there was a lack of cleanliness in the bathroom. You can see in the photos that the showerhead is not cleaned and the bath towels, even after being washed, still had stains on them. WI-FI: WiFi does not work at all. I don't know why they advertise as having it when it is impossible to connect. FOOD: We booked the vacation through Francorosso and it was advertised as "Pensione Complete + Bevande" but in reality, only drinks during mealtimes are included. If you want a drink during the afternoon by the pool, you have to pay for it. Also, coffee is not included (only with breakfast). If you want a coffee after your meal as do most Italians, you have to go to the bar and pay for it. Infuriating. The food is pretty much all buffet (only the first dish at dinner is served at the table) and the dishes are out in the open with no glass shields so any insects or items from the guests can fall into them. The meals from the previous night are routinely recycled into the buffet the next day. This is especially disgusting when they refry the fried food and it takes on a lovely radioactive orange colour. Also most of the dishes and cutlery are marked and not well cleaned. One time my wife asked for a spoon and the waiter brought over one with a piece of carrot encrusted on it. He apologized profusely when we pointed it out but it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. Just a general lack of attentiveness as the waiters also often brought the wrong dish or drink. ENTERTAINMENT: Every night there was a guy singing and playing electric keyboard by the pool until 11:30pm at a very loud volume, even if there were only a few tables of guests directly in front of him. Unfortunately, he didn’t have the capability to sing in tune so it was terrible to listen to. We complained a couple of times and they started turning the sound down at 11pm but it was still impossible to relax in your room after dinner with that awful noise. Twice a week they did karaoke so instead of having one person who thought they could sing but couldn’t, you had a whole group! Also, the resort is in the middle of nowhere so you have no other options at night to go anywhere else and are stuck with it. SERVICE: The Francorosso local assistant was useless. She didn’t bother to spend any time to welcome the guests or see them off at the end of the vacation or do anything for them during the trip. We tried to get her to rent a car for us but there was no communication back from her. She would say that she would call back in 30 mins but never did and then finally the night before we needed the car, some guy calls me saying he has a car for me if we want it. So she basically gave out my phone number without asking or informing me. Luckily we were helped by another guest with some local contacts to find a rental car at half the price that she arranged. BEACH/POOL: The beach and pool area were fortunately very nice. The sea was mostly clean and clear. The beach umbrellas are thatched and some had holes in them so they need a bit of work to be repaired for the next season. They charge 20 euros a day for an umbrella in the first row, so of course the first row was empty. The beach is not quite private as there is public access on both sides with many local tourists with umbrellas there. Overall, I expected a lot more from a 4 star resort, especially for the service and cleanliness and the quality of the food and entertainment.

The moment we arrived we wanted to turn back!! Dal primo momento che siamo arrivati volevamo subito andarcene!! How on earth this hotel is 4 star I do not know! The photos and adversities online are all false and looks nothing like it!! Le foto online sono false, non so come questo hotel è di 4 stelle! Non merita di essere neanche mezza stella! VERY VERY old hotel, we didn’t feel comfortable whatsoever, completely ruined our holiday and I felt embarrassed I brought my parents to stay here Mi sono sentita in imbarazzo per aver portato i miei genitori qui, hanno completamente rovinato le nostre vacanze in Sicilia .. Where do I even begin?! Let’s get straight to the point - On arrival our room hadn’t even been cleaned!! This was the first of many problems - Mentioned it to reception and was “cleaned” in 5 minutes - No sleep on the first night, room was next to the lifts and was VERY noisy! Complained the next day and they changed our room - The bathrooms made my skin crawl!! VERY old and some bits dirty, disgusting plastic shutter in the shower, had to bang the door shut and struggled to open toilet door every time - NO HOT WATER FOR 2 days, staff said it happens and we had to have cold showers and couldn’t wash our hair - Toilet paper wasn’t given so had to go down twice to ask - No batteries in air con remote, staff said they would replace them and never did which resulted us in having to stand up on the bed to switch on/off from the main button - WiFi didn’t always work - Pool was spacious and plenty of sun loungers but pool was dirty with hairs and a screaming swimming teacher in his late 50’s shouting at the children distracting the entire pool area, not relaxing whatsoever! - The breakfast was APPAULING, thank goodness for the petrol garage opposite where they served lovely fresh coffee and croissants! Shame the breakfast was paid for but we couldn’t consume the food and drink as it was that poor! - Staff were ok, a part from the false hope in telling us they’d sort things out and then didn’t, not much of a welcoming whatsoever, no leaflets or guidance in where we could visit nearby - The location was fine for us, ten min drive to beaches and the Piazza nearby. Looking outside our balcony window the location wasn’t great. Didn’t make use of our balcony at all it was that poor - General cleanliness was poor, stains on walls and on my bed covers, surfaces were not wiped at all - One evening we could smell burning and informed the staff and they didn’t seem to be fussed about the gas/burning smell - In the room we were moved to there were no plug sockets, one in the bathroom and just one in the bedroom to share between 3. We asked for an extension lead and were reassured we’d have one sent up to us and regardless us mentioning it repeatedly we did not get given one the whole 5 days we were there! - All of this was mentioned to reception on the way out, I THINK we heard a “sorry” from the staff but it seemed to be a daily thing for them as judging by the reviews it happens to them a lot and they didn’t seem that bothered. Please please please stay away, Sicily is beautiful, do not let your holiday get ruined by this horrible hotel Per favore state lontani, la Sicilia è bellissima, non rovinate le vostre vacanze venendo qui in questo hotel orribile !
