Alunan Resort

Alunan Resort is the only contemporary resort on Pulau Perhentian Kecil, Malaysia with 18 spacious, double-story suites furnished with modern architecture. Covered in floor-to-ceiling glass panels designed to capture majestic views of the ocean and rain forest, each suite opens up to a private rooftop sun deck on the top floor where a hammock and sun loungers awaits. Due to the design of our resort which is built on a hill, there are many steps and stairs to consider. We apologize that we are not able to provide wheelchair access and our resort may not be suitable for senior citizens and children under the age of 12.

Iconic vacation

This is our 2nd time coming here for a dreamed vacation. Last time, we were staying on the higher unit facing the ocean view. It was superb experience. This time around, we chose to stay in a garden suite since it’s nearer to the beach and pool. Despite of the late check-in (we had arrived early since our boat reached there around 11.55am, and the room was ready around 1.45pm, note that the normal checkin is 3pm), the rest of the experience was superb. The room was clean. The staffs were very friendly. The food was very delicious. We even got a dinner treat from the hotel for the ‘long waiting time for checkin’. They also included complimentary cocktail in the evening and free kayak session for adult. Kids are very happy to swim at the beach. Water is crystal clean. The view is also breathtaking. We could also watching the tourists releasing the sea turtle into the ocean. There was a fire show at night which were free to all visitors. Overall, this was even better experience than the previous visit during pandemic.

The Staff at The Barat is fantastic.

Reviewed By Jimmikoldenborg

The Staff at The Barat is fantastic. Always smiling staff, and always ready to help you. We joined several snorkelling tours, which were very nice. The food at the restaurant was good, and the prices where reasonable. The room we stayed in was simple but clean. The PIR beach is nearby, and is a more beautiful beach, than the one in front of The Barat. It takes about 8 minutes to walk to PIR beach. We stayed at the resort for 7 days, and the only thing that we can think of could be improved is, Please keep your water, cokes etc cold!! Not just semi cold?. I think it’s because they are turning off the fridge at nighttime?. Compared to the price, this is a very nice place to stay. Don’t expect a 4 star hotel, but the Service is 5 star! Without doubt.

Perhentian Island Resort

Perhentian Island Resort is an ideal beach resort for a leisurely family vacation in Malaysia. Surrounded by lush greenery, facing white sandy beaches and a warm blue sea, Perhentian Island is a holiday paradise not to be missed. Perhentian Island, or Pulau Perhentian as the locals call it, is well known as a marine paradise and forms a parts of the National Marine Park of Malaysia. In the surrounding areas of Perhentian Island Resort, you will find many things to see and do. Take a jungle trek up the hills under a canopy of large trees, and you might see wild magpies, giant fruit bats or the Nicobar pigeon. Perhentian Island lies along the flight path of this migratory bird. You might also see the harmless monitor lizard or even the unique lutong monkey species. The nearest jungle trail is less than 100 metres away from our resort. Or gather your family and head to the inviting sea for a swim. For those who enjoy snorkelling or scuba diving, the Resort is strategically located, fronting a coral-rich bay. The marine ecosystem of this area is well documented and held in high regards by snorkellers and scuba divers. If you come between June and September, you might get lucky and see giant green turtles laying eggs along the beach. Enjoy your next family holiday at this paradise beach resort, where reality is like a dream.

Review of restaurant only Big restaurant that can accommodate large groups of people. We had lunch and found it average. There are enough options on the menu to choose from, including some western ones. Restaurant was under staffed but the waitress was friendly. The overall venue looks nice but has some signs that maintenance is due. No issues with temperature though - enough shade and fans! View from the restaurant is not amazing as it is not very close to the beach… not that this is a hard requirement because after your meal you can simply go to the beach and enjoy. Top tip - do NOT do a snorkeling trip to swim with turtles. It’s like 10 people 1 turtle being desperately chased. If you are a fine swimmer just go from the beach, enjoy some ALONE time with the turtle and go back. Respect nature.

The Bubu Villa is the BEST!! You must come try the Hotel and the Food!

Reviewed By Y1479KSmarkc

Absolutely fantastic stay all around, six years in Malaysia but our first trip for diving and the beach at Perhentian and we'll be back to stay only at the BuBu Villa. Family room was comfortable for 5, well laid out but as many have noted, the service and friendless of staff are just fantastic and made our stay so memorable. Rosie and the whole staff at the desk and facilities are just awesome, and we so loved the free evening cocktails and canopies by the water each day at 5pm! But the standout and the reason we must come back was Claudio, hotel manager, chef extraordinaire and good guy all around. From a little town not far from Rome, Italy but a long time resident of Malaysia, Claudio is a magician in the kitchen and his food added such flavor and fun to our entire experience. We'd return to the Bubu just to have the Veal Milanese with mash potatoes (a special request we so appreciated), the lobster linguine, rigatoni in truffle crème with smoked duck and spaghettini el Nero diseppia! And don't miss out on the amazing pannacotta and chocolate lava cake! Oh, and the trofie pasta Genovese-style....my goodness that was delish! Literally every night was a feast, and we'd eat nowhere else but there at the hotel. Breakfast was great as well, they have a great little spa that we loved and the ambience is just perfect with the collection of Nipah palm umbrellas scattered across their quiet area of beach. Kudos to Yaakub and his team of divers at Turtle Bay Divers as well, we loved our trips out into the beautiful waters of the East Coast Malaysia with their team. In short, come for the sun, diving and beach but stay for the food, friendliness and relaxation beautifully executed by Claudio and his team at the Bubu Villas!

Paid RM1800 for these kind of facilities and services. Waited for transportation waited 30-40 minutes at jetty n hotel. I really dont recommend anythg good at yr place. I expect more for this price at least good hospitality and im house food and towels. But all are dispointing!!

WORST STAY EVER

Reviewed By SAAishah95

Sari pacifica review Worst experience ever Price: too expensive for this kind of service. I’ve experience better service and facility with a cheaper price. You would think that with a pricey packaged, the service would be good right? NO Facility: no water for guest, but can switch on fountain and swimming pool. And got water for staff quarters. Food: some are tasteless and bland, some are too salty. No in between one. We rather go out to buy lunch dinner rather eat their food. Staff: Worst front desk staff that they can hire. Im surprised their management hire this kind of people. No hospitality, no manner, no common sense. You should do a re-organisation. No critical thinking, dont know how to handle crisis. Overal experience: Check in and room situation: We arrived at the resort at around 11am. And during the check in, the staff there mention that our room is yet to be ready (and informed that the check in time is actually 3pm) , and they said that they *will inform us by calling my number when the room is ready*. After that, we keep asking them the room status every hour. At our 2nd time asking, they mentioned that there is some maintenance issue that they need to attend to our room, and its not yet ready. So we waited. We waited until 2.30pm, and decided to ask them the room status. And when we asked them for an update at 2.30pm, only they informed us that our room is actually leaking and the maintenance not able to fix it. So they offer us a 2 separate double room (we booked a quad sharing instead of double sharing), they didnt really give us and option, we need to take it because we have been staying outside for almost 4 hours. But even though they offered 2 room, only 1 room is ready, and another room will only be ready at 4 (be mind that the check in time is at 3pm). They didnt even have the courtesy to do as what they say (which is to call me when there is a room or an update about our room), they didnt call me to say oh we have a room ready. So if i didnt go and ask, they will just let us sleep under the sun, in our travel clothing until the sun is set?? 2nd day lunch situation: They refused us our lunch on the second day because quote “oh we will not provide the lunch of the people that go for snorkelling because we have prepared it at Sari Pacifica Lang Tengah. We have prepared the lunch at Sari Pacifica Redang for the exact number of pax that didnt go for snorkelling trip”. Please note ah, the lunch was in a buffet (self service), so how can a 4 person eat until finished everything? At 9.20am the same morning, i already informed the snorkelling centre guy that our group will not join for lunch. And also at 12pm, just before lunch, we took our new room key Winnie, the front desk manager also aware that we didnt go for snorkelling trip. And when we make a complaint through our agent, they defended that we need to inform them (front desk) if we dont want to go for snorkelling. But their management also said that, the snorkelling trip is complimentary, not a compulsory. So by right, the lunch is provided even though you go to snorkelling or not. If they need us to let them know that we will not join for the snorkelling trip, they should have informed this to us during the check in. They never said anything, about lunch arrangements or snorkelling arrangements. All other resorts that i went to before, NEVER has i need to inform the staff that we dont want to go, and the lunch is still provided. After 1.5 hours, only they informed us to go back to resort to eat lunch. 1.5 hours!! By that time we already had our lunch somewhere else. NO WATER?!!! Started at around 7.30pm 5/6, the water pressure was super slow, so we went to the receptionist to ask if is there any problem or is there anything the can do, and they replied with this sarcastic remark “oh you need to understand, there are more guest checked in today, so the water pressure is slow because everyone is using it (please note that all the rooms at that time are dark, so either they were out for dinner and do other things). You need to TOLERATE it a bit, need to wait until the water pressure go back up. If you really want we fix it quickly, you need to pay extra rm200 (wtf, scammer!)”. But even until 12am, there’s no water. So we waited again. In the morning, when i woke up for the subuh prayer, there’s no water yet, and its only enough just for my wudhu. So before going to breakfast on 6/6, we asked them again, what happen, so apparently they said that the water pipe at kampung burst, so it affected our water supply. So we asked if is there any other toilet or shower we can use to shower, and do our business, and WINNIE REPLIED WITH THE SARCASTIC REMARKS AGAIN which is “wow, that is a MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION” what kind of reply is that? Are you not a management position at a resort? You dont know hospitality?? And we also checked with other staff, they do have water! So the resort rather give the water to staff than the guest that paid for their freaking salary. They dont have a crisis management ke??
