If you like history this place has it,if you like quiet night sleeps go elsewhere, one side is on the busy street ,the other side over the kitchen and beer garden. If you like good food and a great dunkel they have one, they also have a good breakfast. There is no a/c so on the warmer nights you must keep the windows open, still a little hot up in the loft rooms.

Inexpensive, but

We chose this motel after reading the ratings and reviews, and it was the least expensive hotel of the 8 we stayed at in Europe. It was also the most basic of them. We reserved our room months in advance, and didn't have to prepay. We did have to pay upon arrival. It is about 800 m from the train station and an easy walk along the Wall Strassen. The motel was very clean with a modern bathroom and lots of hot water in the shower. As is common in Europe, the double bed was two singles, but very comfortable. The TV and free internet worked well. There was no fridge or safe. There is only one bed lamp, plus a ceiling lamp. There was no facial tissue, and only one hair/body wash container, which was in the shower. There is parking available, 3 euros per day, 10 per week. This is a European hotel, so the only cover on the bed is a very good comforter. This can be hot. You might want to bring a sheet and maybe a light blanket with you. Our room was on the ground floor and we couldn't open the window very wide. Also, with only hair/body wash you might want to bring shampoo and conditioner with you. We arrived before 2 and tried to use the automated check in. The machine couldn't process my credit card. At 2 the office opened and we were able to register - no problem with my card. The lady in the office was very friendly but her English was limited. Office hours are 8 - 10 a.m. and 2 - 6 p.m. If there are regular problems with machine registartion, I would be hesitant about arriving after these hours. They did have an arrangement with the hospital cafeteria and a nearby cafe for reduced prices. The hotel is about a 3 minute walk to the Osthofentor and the start of the old city wall. It is a 10 - 15 minutes walk to downtown ending beside the Patrokoli Dom, or to the Pond and tourist office, and about 10 min to the Wiesenkirche.

Very Poor

Reviewed By Monkeynuts65

This is a hotel that has all the appearances of a premises about to close. The decor is shabby and look dirty. Only one item available for evening meals and that was of a very poor standard. The majority of the staff were very poor and customer service didn't seem to be high up on their standards. The bar closes at 10pm and guests are refused further drinks, oh and forget room service. The bar seemed to be run for friends of the staff, who went behind the bar and helped themselves. There are no facilities in the room for making Tea or coffee.

While I have nothing really to complain about this hotel lacked the charm I thought I’d find from the hotel description. My room was simple but clean, unfortunately on the street side so rather noisy . Adequate breakfast but very dark and dreary dining room. It was no doubt my own mistake for not checking but I thought it would have at least a bar, welcome after a 7 hour drive in torrential rain. But unfortunately not.

Nice hotel

Reviewed By LTT319

We recently stayed here for one night. If you arrive after 18:30 on a weekday or after 13:00 on weekends, you have to use the machine to check in. Easy enough, but seems odd there is no one to contact in case of issues like noisy neighbors, etc . For example, we wanted to use the EV charger, but couldn't. I also thought it was incredibly cheap that the bill included surcharges of 1 Euro for internet and 2 Euros for parking. The restaurant was also closed although the web site does not say this. The room was beautiful, but noisy. Be aware also that the hotel is not a "few steps" from the old central area, it is more like 10-15 minutes depending on destination and your walking speed. It is quite close to the railway station though.

Stayed here for four nights. Clean, functional, great choice at buffet breakfast and good quality evening meal in restaurant. Popular overnight stop for business people. Good location for main roads, easy to find. 20 minutes walk from town centre. Nice outside dining area and bar. Do speak English but if you speak to them in German first that will be how they converse.

Centrally Located Pub with Rooms

Reviewed By IanGH

This Hotel, more of a Pub with Rooms, is located on the East Side of Wiesenstraße; not far from Große Teich Lake in the North-East Quarter of the Altstadt. It is therefore conveniently located. There is a Public Car Park nearby at the Lake and a smaller one further up Wiesenstraße beyond the Marienkrankenhaus Hospital. There are very few spaces directly in front of the Hotel in the Street. The Rooms vary in size, but are nicely furnished. Breakfast is included and served at the Table at a pre-agreed time. It is basic, but generous including a boiled egg and hot bread rolls. Payment is on arrival. Free WiFi is available. There is a separate entrance to the Rooms on the side of the Building, so it is not necessary to pass through the Restaurant once keys have been collected. The proximity of the local Churches means the Bells will be heard in the Rooms when they are rung.
