Shenzhen Hostels hotel | Places to Stay in Shenzhen

Located in the south of China, the cityscape--Shenzhen-- is home to some of the most modern buildings worldwide. Although this area is largely industrial, it offers many tourist attractions, such as the Chinese folk Culture Village, Safari Park, and beach resorts. Perhaps one of the most frequented tourist attractions is Window of the World, which offers replicas of the Eiffel tower, the pyramids, and Taj Mahal.

Common areas and cafe were great

Reviewed By Rozaine s

Just stayed here over the last weekend. I stayed in a 3-room female dorm. Overall, the room was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room is air-conditioned, there's also a window but no fan. There are lockers downstairs at the lobby which are within sight of the front desk (need to pay a 20yuan deposit and some other cheap fee). You get the key from the front desk for the lockers downstairs. There is also a locker outside the room itself, but you'll need your own lock for this. Each floor has one bathroom and one toilet (separated). Although the toilet is clean, and there's ample toilet paper, there isn't hand soap so oh well, bring your own. Laundry is a little expensive, at 12 yuan per load (and they wash it for you, you just hand the laundry over to them at the front counter). You can dry it (30 yuan) or hang it outside yourself but when I was there it rained almost every 3 days haha. The factor that made me give it 5 stars was the common area, where you can sit until whatever ungodly hour you want for work and is well-ventilated and open. No complaints about the wifi. There are a couple of common areas, but the cafe and the common area just behind the cafe are both open to the garden and the alfresco area. There are plenty of electrical points to plug your stuff in. The cafe is pretty nice too. There is a supermarket just across the road from the hostel, where you can also find an array of restaurants (such as this one Buddhist vegetarian restaurant). There's a halal la mian place somewhere around, and there is a bunch of really nice cafes and an art gallery (the OCT- LOFT area) behind the hostel. The nearest metro stop is Qiao Cheng Dong (侨城东, line 1) which is a ten-minute walk or so from the hostel. Overall would stay here again if I came back to Shenzhen.

Reviewed By 5329988952017

Shabby but cheap

Reviewed By zoneTrippr

Also known as Notting Hill Hostel. This is basically a backpackers hostel. My room did not have a tv but I notice some do (no big problem for me). Pool tables and tv in the common area on 4th floor, plus a kitchen and laundry, so it has everything a backpacker needs, at a decent price. No fridge in the room, which might be an issue in summer time. Room was shabby but equipped with an electric kettle, hairdryer and toiletries, insect repellent, and had its own bathroom. Pro's: good price, staff are generally quite helpful and one of them speaks enough English to communicate easily with. Convenient to some really nice little noodle houses, 24 hour convenience stores, shopping plaza, metro and bars. Con's: 5 flights of stairs to get to the room. Loud out-of-town Chinese guests slamming their door so hard that my window was shaking. Noisy neighbourhood in general. Hard to get a decent night's rest. The mattress was rock hard, but you get that everywhere in China. Drinking water not supplied but available at reception for only 2 RMB per bottle. Hot water takes a few minutes to heat up and wifi often very slow due to high traffic on the network. I put this one in the "you get what you pay for" class but due to the poor quality of sleep I had there I can't give it more than a 2/5. Not bad but not good either. I was in Shenzhen visiting a few buddies so I was just using the place to sleep, and sleep was a bit hard to come by. I don't think I could have lasted another night. Not one I'll return to personally, but I can see it's appeal to the younger traveller on a budget.
